The genre commonly labelled “gospel” is probably the most lucrative music business in Kenya. Its popularity is facilitated in part by the propensity of musicians to draw on diverse resources for Christian religious songs. Musicians further invoke indigenous Kenyan and contemporary popular music genres in local and international languages for national distinctiveness and global inclusiveness. Top-of-the-line recording facilities in Kenya enable artists to produce a broad spectrum of music at a pace comparable to anywhere in the world. Specifically, I look at the rogue taxidermy of Sarina Brewer, an artist who utilizes sensationalist aesthetics and representations found in historical sideshows alongside unconventional forms of taxidermy to critique historical and contemporary forms of body display. I discuss the material histories that informed and shaped the practice of taxidermy and how taxidermy was (and continues to be) bound up with a complex history of human and nonhuman animal exploitation. There Lord Denning said obiter that an alien who had been given leave to enter the United Kingdom for a limited period had a “legitimate expectation of being allowed to stay for the permitted time” and, hence, if that permission was “revoked before the time limit expires, [the alien] ought to be given an opportunity of making representations [to the Home Secretary]”. In response to these challenges, we introduce a novel watermark scheme, Diffusion Shield, against GDMs. It protects images from infringement by encoding the ownership message into an imperceptible watermark and injecting it into images.
