Abstract:
This material is the first article of a sequence of fifty materials, which will have as main objective the construction of theoretical knowledge about refinement and personal development, and its pragmatic feasibility through the help of various meditative practices. Obeying the systematization of scientific rigor, each material will be organized based on a guiding question that will bring meaning to each material individually, even if it is part of a sequence. This time, the question highlighted here will be: what are the conceptual approaches and epistemes that make up refinement, personal development, and how do meditative practices help this process? In general, it is possible to observe that the human being is an individual in constant metamorphosis, who must always seek to develop themselves in order to act more effectively both in the personal and social spheres. Theoretical concepts are important as they support this process; however, meditative practices can be strategic tools to effectively execute this process, producing mental, social and physiological effects.

Abstract:
The ePortfolio—love it or loathe it—is an integral part of the workplace-based assessment, it is now a fact of life for general practice trainees. It is also preparation for the appraisal system for qualified GPs, which is heavily reliant upon portfolios of evidence and the creation of personal development plans (or PDPs). Such reliance is only likely to increase with the proposed new revalidation system, which is currently expected to be introduced in 2010–11. Given this context, it is wise for GP trainees to learn how to use these tools to best effect, not only to provide robust evidence of good practice but also to aid personal development. This article aims to describe the way in which PDPs and portfolios can be best employed during your years as a trainee, equipping you with useful skills for a career in general practice. Although the use of tools such as significant event analysis, audit and the consultation observation tool (COT) and case-based discussion, assessments are all important reflective components of the ePortfolio, they will not be discussed in depth in this article.

Abstract:
This study aims to explore the effects of a personal development program based on the technique of therapeutic metaphor on adolescent anxiety. The unique experiences that fill the adolescent period produce sudden changes in emotions and give rise to emotional patterns that can deeply affect the personality that begins to take shape, mainly due to anxiety. The applicative objective of this paper is to implement a personal development program, based on the technique of therapeutic metaphor, to help the adolescent to access emotions in an empathic way, to know his own self, to discover resources, in order to reduce anxiety. The personal development program includes techniques such as creative meditation, role play, art therapy, drama therapy, Dixit cards and storytelling, applied to an experiential group of 12 teenagers and the psychological effects of this program will be evaluated both quantitatively and qualitatively.
