Full textStaff management in Lithuania's municipalities is a department which has been given little attention. There are a lot of literary sources and treatises about staff management in business management department; however it is hard to find both theoretical and practical analysis about the peculiarities of staff administration in municipalities. The tradition of staff management has not yet been established. The goal of this thesis is to explore the staff management situation in Lithuania's municipalities (as in the case of Municipality of Ukmerge District), to define main problems and to suggest trends of development. To reach this goal a qualitative research has been applied – half structured interview with the employees of Ukmerge District Municipality and with experts of the public sector. The results of the research suggest that the most problematic staff management issues in municipalities are motivation, planning of staff demand, and evaluation of official duties. Staff training and raising qualification are the best organized staff management elements in municipalities. The most effective means of staff recruitment is within the organization. Applying recruitment in higher educational institutions is a method least used in staff management in municipalities practice. Career opportunities, objective results evaluation of competence and official duties are the main motives stimulating municipalities' employees to raise qualifications; however individual employees'... Full textThe object of Master-thesis – the competences of human resources management in respect with knowledge management. The purpose of Master-thesis – to determine the influence of competences of human resources management on the changes occurring inside the environment of knowledge management. Upon the conduction of a theoretical study and empirical research on human resources management functions and competences related thereto, the article presents an analysis of expectations of Lithuanian organizations staff regarding competence of human resources managers, and evaluation of the attitude of the staff towards factual competences of their human resources managers. Results of the empirical research point to the difference between expectations of the staff regarding competences of their human resources manager and the attitude towards the actual competence possessed by a human resources manager of their organization. Human resources managers of the organizations surveyed much less attention than expected pay to get to know and motivate their personnel (the level of expectations circa 80 percent, whereas the factual evaluation – merely 16 percent), to settle conflicts (50 percent and 10 percent respectively). Creativity and an ability to implement innovations are attributable only to 14 percent of human resources managers, which constitutes much less than has been expected (64 percent). Full textSummary There is an increasing understanding that intellectual capital is a key matter for success in today's economic environment. Intellectual capital is not just data or information in files and databases. It embraces all useful knowledge in all forms in the organization. Intellectual capital is vital in knowledge-based organizations and is becoming increasingly important in every other type of organization. Therefore, it is critically important that intellectual assets are well understood and properly managed if organizations want to compete successfully in today's world economy. Effective management of intellectual capital begins with understanding. For this reason, this paper has provided a definition of intellectual capital to help managers understand the breadth of management requirements. Several models for classifying the components of intellectual capital were then presented so management might understand the depth of management requirements. Finally, several measurement schemes were presented showing how intellectual capital can be viewed at both the component-by-component and organization levels. Management of intellectual capital is in its early stage, but interest is growing. Models and measurements are being developed with enthusiastic experimentation. Full textIn the master’s thesis the problem of factors influencing socialization of bank employees having different work experience is risen. Theoretical and practical researches of staff socialization in an organization of both Lithuanian and foreign authors are analyses and systematized, including the essence of staff socialization in organization , its process, factors and main indices. The research, related with the factors influencing socialization of employees with different experience is carried our. Hypothesis, set by the author, was confirmed: both organizational and individual factors make a direct impact on socialization of the employees with different work experience in bank.
