Abstract:
In recent years, with the continuous understanding of pain knowledge and the continuous improvement of quality of life requirements, patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) has been widely used in a variety of pain patients. In this study, text mining technology was used to analyze relevant literature, try to find out the main drugs of PCA, classify the drugs, and dig out the important drug combination rules. PCA studies were retrieved from PubMed database in recent 10 years, and the bibliographic information of the literatures was taken as mining sample. First, the names of the drugs in the sample were identified by MetaMap package; then, Bicomb software was used to extract high-frequency drugs for the word frequency analysis and to construct a drug-sentence matrix. Finally, “hclust” package and “arules” package of R were used for the cluster analysis and association analysis of drugs. 39 main PCA drugs were screened out. Morphine, dexmedetomidine, and fentanyl were the top three drugs. Through cluster analysis, these drugs were divided into two clusters, one containing 26 common drugs and the other containing 13 core drugs. The association analysis of these drugs was carried out, and 22 frequent itemsets and 6 association rules were obtained. The maximum frequent 1-itemset was {Morphine} and the maximum frequent 2-itemset was {Morphine, Ropivacaine}. The research results have certain guidance and reference value for clinicians and researchers. In addition, it provides a way to study the relationship between drugs from the perspective of text mining.

Abstract:
In this article, we offer information about the specific challenges US Latino immigrant children face. We then determine which of these challenges are included in 72 award winning children’s picture books, specifically created for and/or about Latino children. Our analysis offers information to assist school-based mental health professionals, children’s librarians, educators, and parents in prescriptively selecting books that align with Latino children’s social emotional needs. Additionally, we analysed each book’s proportion of Spanish/English text and described the book’s targeted age level and Horn Book Guide rating. From our perspective, books containing colorful illustrations that include Latino children, realistic situations, familiar Spanish words and phrases, and true-to-life characters help Latino children engage and identify with these stories. Children’s book author Pat Mora also explains her perceptions of quality children’s literature. Although this article is specific to Latino children’s literature, implications are offered that generalize to other ethnic and cultural groups that are typically underrepresented in children’s literature.

Abstract:
In the generation and analysis of Big Data following the development of various information devices, the old data processing and management techniques reveal their hardware and software limitations. Their hardware limitations can be overcome by the CPU and GPU advancements, but their software limitations depend on the advancement of hardware. This study thus sets out to address the increasing analysis costs of dense Big Data from a software perspective instead of depending on hardware. An altered [Formula: see text]-means algorithm was proposed with ideal points to address the analysis costs issue of dense Big Data. The proposed algorithm would find an optimal cluster by applying Principal Component Analysis (PCA) in the multi-dimensional structure of dense Big Data and categorize data with the predicted ideal points as the central points of initial clusters. Its clustering validity index and [Formula: see text]-measure results were compared with those of existing algorithms to check its excellence, and it had similar results to them. It was also compared and assessed with some data classification techniques investigated in previous studies and we found that it made a performance improvement of about 3–6% in the analysis costs.

Abstract:
What is meant under the genuine title of Aristotle’s ta Analytika is rarely properly understood. Presumably, his analytics was inspired by the method of geometric analysis. For Aristotle, this was a regressive or heuristic procedure, departing from a proposed conclusion (or problem) and asking which premises could be found in order to syllogize, demonstrate or explain it. The terms that form categorical and modal propositions play a fundamental role in analytics. Aristotle introduces letters in lieu of the triples of terms (major – middle – minor) constituting the propositions and the three syllogistic figures that schematize them. His formulation of the three syllogistic figures refers to a syntactical and predicative order and position of the triples of terms, arranged in some diagrammed schemata, which, regrettably, are missing from the extant text of the Prior Analytics. Considering planar and graphic arrangements, both vertical and horizontal orders as well as the position of the three terms involved, we propose a reconstruction, at least to some extent, of these probable lettered diagrams. In such reconstructed diagrams, we can appropriately capture the definition of syllogism as a predicative connexion of terms, and easier survey a synoptic account of all valid predicative relations and transpositions, and also reduce the imperfect syllogisms into the moods of the first figure. Aristotle’s syllogistic is an analytical calculation of terms, understood as predicates and subjects within the categorical propositions, and more precisely of three terms schematized in three figures in predicative links such that, by means of a middle, follows from necessity a conclusion of the extreme terms. The necessity of the consequence is not based on the implication or inference of the propositions, but on a predictive transitivity through the middle term within the syllogistic figures. Syllogism must draw its conclusion through the way its terms are predicated of one another. Aristotle in his Prior Analytics (I 3, 8–22) developed also a complex account of modal syllogisms within necessity and possibility of belonging (predicating). This account involves also such an analytical reduction to the syllogistic figures. In this analytical perspective, we try to throw some light on his modal syllogisms, although this difficult and nowadays thoroughly discussed topic would require a much wider treatment.

Abstract:
Purpose: Anxiety is the most common and costly mental illness in the United States. Reducing avoidance is a core element of evidence-based treatments. Past research shows readiness to address avoidance affects outcomes. Investigating avoidance from a transtheoretical model (TTM) perspective could facilitate tailored approaches for individuals with low readiness. This study developed and examined psychometric properties of TTM measures for addressing anxiety-based avoidance. Design: Cross-sectional survey. Setting: Community centers, online survey. Participants: Five hundred ninety-four individuals aged 18 to 70 with clinically significant anxiety. Measures: Overall Anxiety Severity Questionnaire, stages of change, decisional balance, and self-efficacy. Analysis: The sample was randomly split into halves for principal component analyses (PCAs) and confirmatory factor analyses (CFAs) to test measurement models. Further analyses examined relationships between constructs. Results: For decisional balance, PCA indicated two 5-item factors (pros and cons). Confirmatory factor analysis supported a 2-factor correlated model, Satorra-Bentler scaled chi-square [Formula: see text], comparative fit index (CFI = 0.94), root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA = 0.07), pros: α = 0.87, ρ = 0.87, cons: α = 0.75, and ρ = 0.75. For self-efficacy, PCA indicated one 6-item factor supported by CFA, [Formula: see text], P < .01, CFI = 0.98, RMSEA = 0.09, α = 0.90, ρ = 0.87. As hypothesized, significant cross-stage differences were observed for pros and self-efficacy, and significant relationships between anxiety severity and pros, cons, and self-efficacy were found. Conclusion: Findings show strong psychometric properties and support the application of a readiness-based model to anxiety. In contrast to findings of other behaviors, cons remain high in action and maintenance. These measures provide a solid empirical foundation to develop TTM-tailored interventions to enhance engagement in treatment.

PurposeThis paper explores how the text complexity and content of management discussion and analysis (MD&A) relate to earnings management in Baltic listed companies.Design/methodology/approachUsing a panel data set of 250 firm-year observations from the Baltic markets in the period 2012–2016, this paper uses linear regression analysis to examine the relation between earnings management and reporting complexity.FindingsThe results show that earnings could be managed in about 6–11% of firm-years, depending on specification, and there is a positive relationship between earnings management and reporting complexity; however, this relationship is confined to more liquid companies. The authors argue that higher scrutiny by market participants in more liquid companies incentivizes managers to obfuscate negative financial results through report complexity.Originality/valueThis paper presents a novel application of the opportunistic perspective of positive accounting theory (PAT) in relation to managers' choice of reporting complexity. The findings of this paper contribute by providing empirical evidence for strategic reporting by managers and can be useful for regulators and investors that should monitor the level of reporting complexity in the listed companies.

Abstract:
Abstract This article presents the findings from a four-year project designed to gather undergraduate Fine Art students' perceptions of replacing an essay with a Patchwork Text Assessment (PTA), a form of assessment in which a series of self-contained, thematically related patches are written at regular intervals over a series of weeks or months and are then stitched together with a final meta-patch exploring the unity and interrelatedness of the individual patches. On completion of the PTA, students were asked a series of questions about their experiences, and analysis of their responses showed that they had found completing the PTA more difficult, more enjoyable and more rewarding than writing an essay. Importantly, there were no suggestions that the PTA had dumbed down assessment practices, nor was there an increase in the workload of the academic staff supporting and assessing the PTA.

Abstract:
e16034 Background: Patients diagnosed with stage IV M1PCa are predisposed to SREs, such as pathologic fracture (PF), spinal cord compression (SCC) and bone surgery (BS). There is limited information in the literature regarding the ICs associated with SREs among stage IV M1 PCa patients. Methods: We analyzed patients aged 66+ yrs diagnosed with incident stage IV M1 PCa between 2000 and 2007 from the linked SEER-Medicare dataset. Five mutually exclusive SRE categories were created: PF only, PF+concurrent surgery (SRG), SCC only, SCC+SRG, and BS only. Patients with multiple SREs were excluded. A propensity score for the incidence of an SRE was estimated using a logistic regression model including baseline demographic and clinical variables, diagnosis year and SEER region. Patients with SREs (cases) were matched to those without SREs (controls), based on the propensity score. The date of SRE of a case was assigned to a matched control, and the 12 month pre- and post-SRE costs were calculated. A difference-in-difference method was used to estimate the ICs (post-pre) for cases vs. controls. The analysis was conducted from a US Medicare perspective. Results: Application of inclusion criteria resulted in 1,131 stage IV M1 PCa patients with SREs. The average age was 78 yrs and 12% were African American. Using the propensity score, 1,031 cases were matched with 1,031 controls and allocated to the following SRE groups: PF+SRG (n=134), PF only (n=143), SCC+SRG (n=40), SCC only (n=538) and BS only (n=176). The average IC per SRE was $30,548 (vs. controls). The most expensive SRE group was SCC+SRG with a total average IC of $62,412, followed by BS only ($37,554), PF+SRG ($35,520), SCC ($28,027), and PF only ($17,839). Inpatient costs were the major driver of ICs followed by physician/non-institutional provider and skilled nursing facility (SNF) costs. Conclusions: The ICs associated with an SRE are significant. The IC of an SRE varies by type of SRE and service category. [Table: see text]

<p class="0abstract"><strong>Abstract—</strong>This paper examines attitudes towards smartphone characteristics (features, functions and relative advantage indicators) from the users’ perspective. A questionnaire survey was conducted among smartphone users (n=486) from different countries, however, most of the respondents were Azerbaijanis or Hungarians. The results of the survey were analyzed using Principal Component Analysis which enables to group the most important variables based on their correlations. Six components were extracted and 65% of the total variance was explained by the components. Surprisingly, Personal Digital Assistant tasks and Technical Features seem to be more important for smartphone users than Relative Advantage indicators (i.e. including the price of the handset). The main purpose of the mobile/smartphones – being in touch – explains less than seven percent of the total variance. Afterward, the respondents were clustered in 5 groups according to Rogers’ [2003. Diffusion of innovations (5th ed.). New York, NY: Free Press] adopter categories, using the results of PCA for K-means cluster analysis. Based on the output of cluster analysis and final cluster centers, the adopter categories were defined. Abstract:
Abstract It is generally presumed that World Trade Organization (WTO) members display a preference for dispute settlement under WTO rules over those provided for in preferential trade agreements (PTAs). This assumption is driven by observations relating to the large number of PTAs, the low number of PTA cases and the large number of WTO cases, including between PTA partners. These observations are challenged by adopting a methodology that has so far seen relatively limited use in the study of international law network analysis. This article finds, first, the network of connections among WTO members formed by PTAs is far less dense than appears to have been assumed. Second, while almost half of all WTO members have participated in WTO proceedings at least once, the vast majority of bilateral relations among WTO members have never been subject to WTO dispute settlement. This puts the perceived idleness of PTA dispute settlement into perspective. Lastly, the share of WTO cases that could have been settled under PTA procedures is far lower than commonly believed. This low share shows that there is no widespread predilection for the WTO, as commonly argued, but, more often than not, a genuine absence of choice. Ultimately, as the PTA network is unable to act as a substitute, WTO dispute settlement continues to hold a central place in the rules-based global trading system.

The purpose with this thesis was to study the special pedagogical perspectives that stood out in documents written by the special teachers in preschool. In order to maintain the thesis research questions a text analysis was carried out on the document “Handledningssamtal” that was used by the special teachers in their contact with the teachers in preschool. The documents were analyzed based in the special educational perspectives and the results and measures from the analysis were divided into three levels; individual, group and organizational level. Finally a study of the connection between the analysis and the measures was carried out and the result was reported in a typology schedule inspired by earlier research. The result of the text analysis indicated that the special educational perspective that dominated was the relational (environmental) perspective. The level that was most frequent in the investigations was the individual level since half of the documents reported that the problems discovered were to be found on this level. The most measures were taken at both the group level and individual level. The most common connection between investigation and measure were individua lneeds/measures belonging to the environment.

Abstract:
The aim of this study is to examine how substance abuse and mental illnesses are portrayed in children’s literature from a child’s perspective. To achieve the aim, text analyses were performed on four selected works of children’s literature. The question asked is: in what way can the selected books function to support pupils in problematic family circumstances? The scientific approach of the study is hermeneutic. Hermeneutics means the theory of interpretation and concerns the creation of meaning and understanding through interpretations of texts. The analyses proceed from a hermeneutic model. The model shows how different components go together in the interpretation of a text. In the analyses the children’s literature is set in relation to the background chapter, which shows what the reality is like. The discussion considers the analyses in greater depth with the aid of the theory in order to investigate how readers with similar experiences can perceive and be affected by literature. We chose to design the study in this way because it reflects the hermeneutics. The results of the study show that the selected literature can affect the reader. The theory shows that people have a tendency to recognize themselves in literature and see their own problems at a distance, which helps the reader in real life. Through the literature the reader’s conceptual world can be expanded by new insights into their surroundings. The conclusions drawn in the study are that it is important to work with the Convention on the Rights of the Child in school, to explain to children that adults are not always in good health, and that children have a right to be children.

Abstract:
In primary school reading-books in Swedish language is something that students come across early in school and have done ever since the 1800s. After World War II there have been major changes in society. 1962 there was a school reform where the school turned into a nine-year system of compulsory education. That is why it is interesting to see what reading books contain with regard to notions of children, family and class and how the developments have been from the 1950s until the present time. This study aims to analyze and compare the different aspects of how notions of children, family and class are produced in the reading books for primary school for pupils in third grade, between 1950 and 2009. The research questions were: What are the notions of children, family and class in the reading-books? What differences/similarities exist in the reading books from the 1950s to the  recent decades? What could be the reason? I have chosen to apply qualitative text analysis originating in idea analysis. Because my focus was based on an attempt to track, analyse and compare the concepts, perceptions and representations of the reading books for third grade. My results shows that the children portrayed in the books from 1950-1965 are well mannered. And their relationships with the adults are strong and they learn from their parents, grandparents and relatives. The study also shows that the children portrayed in the reading books from 1976 and forward, make their own choices and play more major roles in the stories. The results show that the nuclear family is seen as an ideal. The study also shows that there are children in the book from 2009 who are experiencing economic inequalities in the form of clothes and other belongings. Overall, in the books i think that the middle class shows strongest but the markers seen in the stories are relatively vague to be seen in the stories.

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to examine differences and similarities in the news coverage among the presidential candidates Joe Biden and Donald Trump in the presidential election 2020. We also examined how the candidates are framed in the different newspapers. In this study, similarities and differences regarding national variances in news articles from Swedish and American newspapers, also where a important part of the research. We did a qualitative text analysis based on 48 online articles from 6 different newspapers, the 3 largest from each country. The newspapers in question are USA Today, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times from USA and Aftonbladet, Dagens Nyheter and Expressen from Sweden. The result showed that there were more differences between the two candidates than similarities, in the way they were presented in news media. Donald Trump was often portrayed as the president that had a very harsh tone in his statements, and he was throwing out accusations towards Biden and the Democrats without having any facts to back them up. This made him look rather ignorant and sometimes even dumb. Biden, on the other hand, was portrayed as the one who is more fitting for the role as president, based on the writings about his previous experience, and many of the articles in the analysis portrayed him as a friendly family man. The focus point on both candidates during the election was who was leading the election, who was leading in which state, and how much that specific candidate was winning by. This was a topic that frequently showed up in articles from both countries and they often portrayed the whole election as some kind of contest or game, instead of focusing on what the candidates wanted to do and change about the country. The American newspapers more frequently wrote about the statistics when it came to who was leading the election, and their news coverage wasn't as clear as the Swedish news coverage. The Swedish newspaper often used secondary sources, for example from American newspapers, since they weren't able to be where the election takes place, which means they are re-telling the things that happened during the election. Other than that, there weren't that many differences between the news coverage in the US and Sweden.

Wenger, Lisa M. "Unser Satt Leit: Our Sort of People - Health Understandings in the Old Order Mennonite and Amish Community." Thesis, University of Waterloo, 2003. http://hdl.handle.net/10012/723.

Full text
Abstract:
Our cultural orientation informs our fundamental understandings of health. It has the potential to guide how we define health, how we understand the determinants of well-being, and how we respond to illness. For researchers, the recognition of this reality is central to not only how we interpret our findings, but also to the ways in which we develop the approach, questions, and methods central to our research. The Old Order Mennonites and Amish are a culturally, ethnically, and religiously distinct population existing within the North American society. This thesis sought to improve upon previous health-related research on this population by asking several basic questions: Among Old Order Mennonites and Amish, how is health perceived and 'good health' understood? What are the perceptions of the determinants of health? How is illness perceived? What is the response to illness? And how does culture relate to health in the Old Order community? A hermeneutical approach was adopted to address these questions and a qualitative textual analysis of an Old Order magazine, Family Life, completed. To allow the voices of community members to guide understandings, a broad approach to health was adopted throughout the examination of two years of the publication (2001, 2000). Findings indicate that in the Family Life writings health is primarily defined by an individual's ability to fulfill his or her role. A focus on nutrition and reproduction dominated discussions of the determinants of physical health and an individual's relationship with God was viewed by many as the central source of mental health or illness. Emotionally, analysis suggests that individuals may have a range of responses to illness including a desire to accept the experience of illness as a part of God's plan, a struggle to find this acceptance, and the incorporation of community and Divine support throughout this pursuit. Behaviourally, health information appears to be transferred through a variety of mediums including health practitioners, community members, and advertisements. Individuals expressed concern with appearing too quick to seek professional medical care and may incorporate a range of considerations into the decision of whether to begin, continue, or end medical treatments. The textual analysis indicated that a mixture of methods may be adopted for achieving health. Individuals appear to care for themselves through home remedies or non-medical measures (including alternative treatments) for as long as possible. In situations of acute physical illness, however, there appears to be comfort with seeking formal medical care. Amidst limited discussion of a physiological root of mental illness, analysis suggested that the main method of treating mental illness is refocusing concentration toward God rather than the self. In consideration of the cultural understandings guiding these submissions related to health and illness, there were two primary themes. The first is that God determines life and is an active and present force in the lives of individuals. The second theme is that the community responds to this belief in God's defining role in particular ways. More specifically, the Old Order orientation to life which includes a deferment of individual will to that of the authority of God and Community (Gelassenheit) and appreciation for a set of rules guiding behaviour (Ordnung), directs discussions and understandings of health in culturally-unique ways. Overall, this study highlighted the distinct ways in which cultural perspective guides understandings of health and illness within the Old Order community.

Abstract:
The goal of this study is to analyze a number of IEP: s in order to determine how these are constructed for students with read and write difficulties. In order to do so, I am going to analyze some action programs to determine which special educational theory that is the most common, based on the theories of Claes Nilholm. My questions are as follows: How the needs of the students receiving support are described, from a certain theoretical perspective and finally, is there an overall view that can be derived from this. For this study, I used qualitative content analysis when analyzing the IEP: s. The research showed that the most common theory used, describing both different actions and different needs, was the Categorical Perspective. A Perspective which puts the problem within the pupil itself and not as an environmental or social issue. Overall, the Categorical Perspective was also the most common perspective that could be seen throughout the action programs. Does this mean that the Categorical Perspective is generally used within schools? The study shows that there seems to be a semantic mix-up where the authors of action programs sometimes describe special adaptations, not actions, within the action programs, using a Categorical Perspective. Furthermore, there is The Dilemma Perspective that describes when there is a conflict between The Categorical and it´s counterpart, The Critical Perspective. Although this Dilemma Perspective does not show as much in the analysis, One can argue that there is always a dilemma when conflicts over resources arise.

This study takes its point of departure in the ongoing debate on how upper secondary schools use marketing and information to attract future students. Career guidance is a profession that includes considerations about how information in schools’ brochures can relate to guidance support regarding educational choice. The aim of the study is, from a discourse-theoretical perspective, to illuminate how information in upper secondary school brochures of 2011 relates to educational choice, and also how upper secondary schools market themselves. By applying a text analysis model that focused on ideational and interpersonal structure, 52 brochures from schools in ‘Stockholms Län’ about the programme ‘Economics’ were analysed. Results show that not all upper secondary schools follow the national guidelines for how ‘Economics’ should be described in the brochures and that the descriptions of the programme varies. Conclusions of this study were that brochures of upper secondary schools appeal to different educational aspirations, and that students are seen as consumers to whom different intangibles are offered.

English Tourism information text plays an important role in publicizing tourism industry. Due to the importance of English Tourism information text, it has drawn the attention and interest to linguists. Nevertheless, there is still a surprising lack of studies of tourism information text on linguistic perspectives. The previous studies mainly focused on cultural perspective, rhetoric device, and especially translation theories, only a few studies were conducted from discourse analysis. Systemic functional linguistic is both theoretical and practical and can be applied to any text analysis either written or spoken. On this theoretical framework, the present study takes a tentative study on tourist information text selected from Conde Nast Traveler magazine; it aims to analyze the stylistic features from lexico-grammatical level of process type, circumstance, mood structure, modality, thematic structure respectively to realize the functions of the tourism information text. The results indicated that (1) material process are dominate in preset study; (2) location circumstance type distributes most; (3) declarative mood is prominence; (4) only a few modalities are expressed and they are realized as medium tone value; (5) unmarked theme is utilized most; and (6) textual theme is utilized more than interpersonal theme. It is hoped that the results of the study could provide useful guidelines for travel writers to produce effective tourist information text. Further, it expects to raise learners’ conscious awareness and to enhance their language competence of this type of genre.

This thesis employs the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) methodology proposed by Norman Fairclough to examine the colonial text, ‘Account of the Inhabitants’, written in 1628 by the Dutch missionary, Georgius Candidius (1597-1647), focusing, in particular, on narratives related to women’s marriage and abortions customs. The aim of the research is to identify the problematic usage of language and to trace the development of the written text and the accompanying discourse, showing how this was produced and practiced, as well as how it influenced Formosa’s Aboriginal society. Candidius’ written words influenced the Western world’s perception of Formosa’s Aboriginal people and have generated a series of historical representations since the seventeenth century. In Taiwan itself, after the lifting of martial law in 1987 and the transformation of political power, the so-called “Pingpu Studies” became, for a while, a main strand of academic research: Dutch-Formosan archival material was drawn upon and the phenomenon of textualization and reproduction emerged on the island. CDA is employed as a linguistic and sociological research method for the historical text and for its later usage in the Western and Taiwanese context. Based on the results of this analysis, the author highlights the ideology implicit in the account provided by Candidius, revealing the structures of power relations and the social inequality. Ultimately, the research doubts that the unchallenged legitimacy of Candidius’ text as a first-hand resource in Taiwan historical studies by a perspective of Postmodern.

This literature study consists of a qualitative text analysis of selected course literature within a preschool teacher education. The results of our study show a gap between what preschool teacher students get from the course literature in relation to how they should practice and thus realize this knowledge in the preschool's activities. Opportunities for conversation and reflection are needed to be able to bridge this gap that arises, and thereby alleviate the uncertainty that exists for the performance of the complex task that the preschool teaching profession entails. Conversation and exchange of experiences can act as a bridge between theory and practice, and thus this is a necessary element in preschool teacher education but also in bu

Abstract:
A late medieval Icelandic romance about the ‘maiden-king’ of France, Nítída saga generated interest in its day and grew in popularity in post-Reformation Iceland, yet until now it has not received the comprehensive scholarly analysis that it much deserves. Analysing this saga from a variety of perspectives, this book sheds light on the manner in which Nítída saga explores and negotiates the romance genre from an Icelandic perspective, showcasing this exciting saga’s strong female characters, worldviews, and long manuscript tradition. Beginning with Nítída saga’s manuscript context, including its reception and transformation in early modern Iceland, this study also discusses how Nítída saga was influenced by, and also later influenced, other Icelandic romances. Considering the text as literature, discussion of its unusual depiction of world geography, as well as the various characters and their relationships, provides insights into medieval Icelanders’ ideas about themselves and the world they lived in, including questions about Icelandic identity, gender, female solidarity, and the literary genre of romance itself. The book also includes a newly revised reading edition and translation of Nítída saga.

Abstract:
Political discourse is the verbal interaction among political actors, who make normative claims about policies conditional on each other, rendering discourse a dynamic network phenomenon. The structure and dynamics of policy debates can be analyzed by combining content and dynamic network analysis. After annotating statements of actors in text sources, networks can be created from these structured data, such as congruence or conflict networks at the actor or concept level, affiliation networks of actors and concept stances, and longitudinal versions of these networks. The resulting network data reveal important properties, such as the structure of advocacy coalitions or discourse coalitions; polarization and consensus formation; and underlying endogenous processes like popularity, reciprocity, or social balance. The advantage of discourse network analysis over survey-based policy network research is that policy processes can be analyzed from a longitudinal perspective. Inferential techniques for understanding the micro-level processes governing political discourse are being developed.

Abstract:
This chapter takes a broader approach to the analysis of subjective temporal experience. It explores the ways in which particular images that have symbolic value or motifs that gain additional significance through their repetition further the sense of temporal movement across a text. The analysis focuses on Buddenbrooks, The Magic Mountain, Tonio Kröger, and includes a comparative analysis with Theodor Storm’s Immensee, which served as an inspiration for Mann. It builds on Genette’s terminology to suggest that there is a difference between shifts in temporal perspective and shifts in temporal location, both of which, it is argued, can be prompted by or encapsulated through symbolic images. The chapter also proposes the concept of ‘meta-muthos’ whereby a single image may contain the overall plot structure of a narrative in miniature and thereby have multidirectional temporal power, which complicates the reader’s sense of narrative time.

This chapter focuses on a Samaritan version of Esther, in which the story is rewritten to bring it in line with the Samaritan perspective on history. The author of this Arabic text replaces the Jews in Esther with Samaritans, while portraying the evil vizier as a Jew. The ways in which the author has adapted Esther for his purposes bring to mind the acculturation of the story within Islamic historiography (as described earlier in the book). Additionally, based on our analysis of the “plot of the eunuchs” in this Samaritan text, it is argued that its author used a rendition of Esther that was based on the Septuagint’s version of the story.

Semantic analysis is the process of extracting meaning of the sentence, from a given language. From the perspective of computer processing, challenge lies in making computer understand the meaning of the given sentence. Understandability depends upon the grammar, syntactic and semantic representation of the language and methods employed for extracting these parameters. Semantics interpretation methods of natural language varies from language to language, as grammatical structure and morphological representation of one language may be different from another. One ancient Indian language, Sanskrit, has its own unique way of embedding syntactic information within words of relevance in a sentence. Sanskrit grammar is defined in 4000 rules by PaninI reveals the mechanism of adding suffixes to words according to its use in sentence. Through this article, a method of extracting meaningful information through suffixes and classifying the word into a defined semantic category is presented. It covers the economic effects of PTAs, political and security effects of PTAs, PTAs in historical perspective, and the effects of domestic politics on PTAs. It then sets out the book's central argument, that trade agreements are often motivated by domestic political conditions. The book seeks to explain why leaders choose to enter these agreements. The next section discusses how the present analysis of the domestic sources of PTA formation bears on a host of important theoretical issues in the fields of international relations and political economy. Abstract:
The chapter tackles youth bulge according to a number of scholars. The analysis aims at bringing forth understanding of the concept from a linguistic perspective. In linguistics, any text can be analyzed using linguistic tools to unearth context, syntax, and semantics, pragmatic and socio-linguistic elements that inform it. Analysis of the likes of Callick, Hendrixson, Fantorpe, Collier, and others on youth bulge is done. Critical discourse analysis is used for analysis. CDA observes that texts are manifestations of politics. Texts are sites for struggle to maintain, influence, and persuade the general to respect the social order of the day. Thus, texts are replication of the society that reproduce them. Texts serve to maintain the powerful in their esteemed positions. Thus, texts are ideological and hegemonic in nature. Text reveals in language and visuals as signs, dress and artifacts. Thus, the chapter avails a number of standpoints of what youth bulge entails and institutes CDA to unravel politically and ideological permeated aspects of the concept.

Abstract:
In this chapter we shall look at methods of statistical analysis used in psychiatric epidemiology. We shall focus on the issues which arise in trying to make sense of a small real dataset. We assume that readers are already familiar with the concepts of confidence interval, means, correlations, and odds ratios. What makes statistical analysis in psychiatric epidemiology different? We have given more space to methods dealing with measures than would be usual in a general text on epidemiology. This is quite deliberate. What makes psychiatric epidemiology different is the emphasis on measurement. By contrast most outcomes in medical statistics were historically binary (usually dead vs. alive). This is beginning to change (note for instance the increased interest in measuring quality of life almost everywhere). Of course psychiatry as a branch of medicine has used the concept of diagnosis freely, and so naturally we also include methods for handling such binary outcomes. We start by discussing methods for predicting an outcome, whether a measurement or a binary outcome. We then discuss a group of methods used for exploring the relationship between groups of variables where there is no single outcome.

Abstract:
This study investigates the timing of replies to mobile phone text messages focusing especially on the timing of replies from the perspective of the “recipient” of the message. In a previous study, the authors evaluated the timing of replies and the emotional strategies associated with such timing from the perspective of the “sender” and found they employed an emotional strategy whereby they “waited” before responding to mobile text messages in order to continue positive communication. In the present study, they examine if the same strategy is as effective from the perspective of recipients of the messages. Specifically, study participants were asked by questionnaire to rate what emotions they would feel and to what degree when the other party waited before replying to the mobile text messages the participants had sent, where the message sent had conveyed one of four emotions: happiness, sadness, anger, or guilt. These four emotional scenarios are the same as used in the previous study to allow for comparative analysis of the two studies. Additionally, participants in the present study were asked to provide freeform responses for scenarios where they felt it was desirable to wait before replying themselves. The results show differences between the emotional strategic intent of senders for waiting before replying, as determined in the previous study, and how this is perceived by the recipients. The results suggest that there are gaps in perception between senders and recipients regarding the intentional manipulation of reply timing (especially waiting before replying). One suggested gap is that senders that intentionally manipulate the timing of replies for negative or hostile emotions, such as sadness, anger, or guilt, run the risk of making the recipient feel the opposite of the sender’s intended outcome.

Abstract:
The Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery (KDD) process focuses on extracting useful information from large datasets. To support analysts in making decisions, a relevant research effort has been devoted to visualizing the extracted data mining models effectively. A particular attention has been paid to the discovery of strong association rules from textual data coming from social networks, which represent potentially relevant correlations among document terms. However, state-of-the-art rule visualization tools do not allow experts to visualize data correlations at different abstraction levels. Hence, the effectiveness of the proposed approaches is limited, especially when dealing with fairly sparse data. This chapter presents Twitter Generalized Rule Visualizer (TGRV), a novel text mining and visualization tool. It aims at supporting analysts in looking into the results of the generalized association rule mining process from textual data coming from Twitter supplied with WordNet taxonomies. Taxonomies are used for aggregating document terms into higher-level concepts. Generalized rules represent high-level associations among document terms. By exploiting taxonomy-based models, experts may look into the discovered data correlations from different perspectives and figure out interesting knowledge. Changing the perspective from which data correlations are visualized is shown to improve the readability and the usability of the generated rule-based model. The experimental results show the applicability and the usefulness of the proposed visualization tool on real textual data coming from Twitter. The visualized data correlations are shown to be valuable for advanced analysis, such as topic trend and user behavior analysis.

Abstract:
Twitter has become a powerful tool of political communication, that now plays a significant role during elections, especially in countries such as Spain, where use of digital media is extended widely throughout society. Digital democracy is based to a significant extent on the quality of public discourse and persuasion implemented in the digital messages contained in tweets. Text mining methods applied to tweets during the 2019 European elections made it possible to examine content, frequently used keywords and expressions, sentiment and tone of the political discourse of the main Spanish political parties. The objective of the analysis is to determine the scope and thematic focus of the political discourse on Twitter and make an inter-party comparison. The results reveal that Spanish politics were a much bigger focus than the European perspective and the social outlook pursued by the left wing turned out to be more visible than other proposals. Fragmentised discourse in the case of the populist parties focused on concrete problems to be resolved, whereas the main approach of Twitter politics was the fight against right-wing rivals. It is possible to conclude rather low maturity in terms of democratic public discourse with the high persuasive components integrated within tweets and a self-appraising attitude.

Abstract:
This study aims to provide a roadmap for research dealing with the tourism sector. In this context, by conducting a study in the form of a literature review, researchers are informed about what has been done and what is missing. In the study, articles that have been accepted from scientific journals indexed in the SCOPUS database before January 18, 2021 and dealing with COVID-19 and tourism issues are examined. The study was carried out in two stages. In the first stage, descriptive statistics were given in terms of the region studied in the articles, the journal in which the articles were published, and the methods used in the articles from a general perspective. In the second stage, articles are divided into sections such as title, keywords, abstract, and conclusion. Each article section has been analyzed separately with text mining and clustering analysis, taking into account both single and double-word groups. As a result of analysis, it was determined that theoretical studies were carried out and quantitative methods were used in most of the studies.
