European travelers in the 15th and 16th century begin to embark on series of explorations of the New World. This period is well known as the “Age of exploration” where many figures such as Ferdinand Magellan, explore the Atlantic road and the Pacific Ocean. Not only the American literature if full of such explorations, but also the Arabic one as well. By the year 1905, Antun Rabbat, a well-known Jesuit scholar of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, discovers a manuscript of the first eastern travel to Americas, in the library of the Suryan bishopric in Aleppo. Most of the texts on Peru were written in the years 1928–1933 and were related to the idea of creating Polish colonies for emigrants in this country. The books of Kazimierz Warchałowski, Michał Pankiewicz and Mieczysław Lepecki were propaganda works. Their goal was to encourage Polish farmers to leave, which is why they depicted Peru in an idealized way. Abstract:
Abstract Neusticomys peruviensis is a poorly known sigmodontine rodent of the tribe Ichthyomyini, represented in collections by only five specimens collected in five localities from lowland forests of central and southern Peru. Recent expeditions in Llanchama, in northern Peru, north of the Río Amazonas, and near Allpahuayo Mishana Natural Reserve (Loreto, Peru), were successful in obtaining three specimens of Neusticomys. Based on morphological and meristic data, we found the population at Llanchama is distinct from the allopatric populations of N. peruviensis, and other species of Neusticomy

Abstract:
"Nueva Corónica y Buen Gobierno" by Felipe Guarnan Poma de Ayala is not only a chronicle dedicated to the description of the grandeur of the Andean pre-Columbian societies and denouncing the abuses of the Spanish invaders. The "Nueva Corónica" also proposes a new socio-political model for Peru which is the subject of the article. Such proposals have a distinctly Andean background, as the proposed changes relate to Andean ideals. There is however an important European element: it is proposed that in the future Peru should follow the Christian religion. According to Marta Mróz, the proposal was

The distinct genitalia and wing venation separate this taxon from other genera of Hepialidae although four derived characters states are shared in common with the cibyrine clade. The holotype male is deposited in the collection of the Museo de Historia Natural, Lima, Peru.

AbstractNumerous scholars have sought to locate the origins of social scientific research in the late-sixteenth-century ars apodemica, the northern European body of literature dedicated to methodizing educational travel. Little attention has been paid, however, to the earlier model of educational travel that emerged from sixteenth-century Venetian diplomatic culture. For many Venetian citizens and patricians, accompanying an ambassador on a foreign mission served as a cornerstone of their political education. Diplomatic travelers were encouraged to keep written accounts of their voyage. Numero

Two new species of Begonia from montane forests in Andean Peru are described and illustrated as B. lamolina and B. amoeboides. These two species are placed within B. section Cyathocnemis and are morphologically most similar to B. lophoptera, which is lectotypified, and a new description is provided. Preliminary IUCN Red List assessments are provided for all three species.

Furuncular myiasis is a parasitosis of the skin that is commonly reported in the tropical areas and is caused by various agents including Dermatobia hominis. Knowledge of myiasis is limited in Italy, resulting in difficulties in its diagnosis and treatment. We report a case of imported furuncular myiasis in a 48 year old Italian patient who returned from Peru. A third stage larva of D. hominis was identified and the diagnosis of myiasis was confirmed.

Abstract. The theory of travel time and residence time distributions is reworked from the point of view of the hydrological storages and fluxes involved. The forward and backward travel time distribution functions are defined in terms of conditional probabilities. Previous approaches that used fixed travel time distributions are not consistent with our new derivation. We explain Niemi's formula and show how it can be interpreted as an expression of the Bayes theorem. Some connections between this theory and population theory are identified by introducing an expression which connects life expec

Episodic memory (memories of the personal past) and prospecting the future (anticipating events) are often described as mental time travel (MTT). While most use this description metaphorically, we argue that episodic memory may allow for MTT in at least some robust sense. While episodic memory experiences may not allow us to literally travel through time, they do afford genuine awareness of past-perceived events. This is in contrast to an alternative view on which episodic memory experiences present past-perceived events as mere intentional contents. Hence, episodic memory is a way of coming i

Heinrich Witt, born in 1799 in Altona into a protestant merchant family, emigrated in his twenties to Peru where he spent most of his lifetime until his death in 1892. After school, the young Witt started a career as a merchant in Altona and was sent to England by his father in 1823, then left Europe to travel to Peru in 1824. First he acted for a trading company in London which started a new branch in Arequipa, Peru. In 1842 he went into business for himself, f
