Abstract:
The first part is an analysis of ethno-religious or literary myths, it emphasizes the richness of their symbols, their recurrence and original treating. The second part, in a psychocritical perspective, tries to bring out the main phantasms which wonderlie each of them, and the desires they reveal among the heroes through regressions, identifications and projections. The third part reorganizes these very phantasms to give prominance to the perverse structury which describes the monstrosity shared by all tournirian heroes

Abstract:
In this study the attempt is an updating of psychoanalytic references centring in Freud and the more recent theories of Jacques Lacan. In this conceptual frame, we examine masculine sexuality and the important changes taking place in today's world in the forms of relationship between man and woman. Freud and Lacan's elaborations on sexuality consistently give a privileged place to perversions and it is on this basis that this work analyses masculine desire

McMillen, Tyler K. "Perversions and whips: Static and dynamic problems of elastic filaments." Diss., The University of Arizona, 2003. http://hdl.handle.net/10150/280309.

Full text
Abstract:
Two problems of elastic filaments are considered, one a problem of determining the static shape of a filament with intrinsic curvature tinder constant force, and one a problem of determining the dynamical behavior of a planar rod. In the first problem, examining the phenomenon of perversion, methods of dynamical systems are used to examine the static equations of elastic filaments, in which the arc-length of the filament plays the role of time. The phenomenon of perversion, in which two oppositely handed helices are connected by an inversion of chirality, is represented by a heteroclinic orbit of the dynamical system. The second problem is an examination of a whip wave, the propagation of a loop in a whip as it travels the length of the whip to create a sharp crack as the loop reaches the end of the rod and accelerates to supersonic speeds. This study is undertaken in two stages: first we examine the propagation of the loop as it travels down the rod far from the end of the rod, and then we examine the behavior of the rod as the loop reaches the end of the rod and unfolds, accelerating the tip. In the first stage we use techniques of asymptotic analysis and perturbation methods to determine the relationship of the speed of the loop to the radius of the rod. In the second stage we employ a numerical technique to compute the behavior of the loop as it unfolds to determine the relationship of the maximal speed of the tip of the rod to the characteristics of the rod and the forces applied to the handle.

Thesis (Ph. D.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dept. of Linguistics and Philosophy, 2006.<br>Includes bibliographical references (leaves 74-77).<br>"Selection and Artifacts" is about how artifacts acquire functions. According to Karen Neander, the function of an artifact is the purpose for which it is designed or built. But I argue that in order for an artifact to have some function its parts and properties must also have been properly selected. "Defining 'Disorder"' examines the conceptual analysis of medical disorder. I defend and develop the idea that a medical disorder is a harmful malfunction. "Teleological Theories of Sexual Perversion" examines attempts to analyze sexual perversion in terms of the biological goal of sex or the functions of sexual organs and psychological mechanisms. I argue that teleological theories are false, and defend the view that sexual perversion is excessive, and therefore unwarranted, sexual attraction, especially sexual attraction to that which is disgusting.<br>by Peter Bach-y-Rita.<br>Ph.D.

Abi-Habib, Rudy. Paris 7, 2009. http://www.theses.fr/2009PA070066.

Abstract:
The sexual perversions in the professional field: the violence of the scopic drive deals with the choice of professions, the psychological structures and the fundamental violence. Our hypothesis is based on the idea that the choice of professions is, as almost as ail human choices, in conjunction with the personality structure. We could conclude that the photographers and fashion models can both be fitted into the core of the borderline personality organization regardless of their sex and nationality. We think we can also implement what we have been able to concede from this research on photographers and fashion models to other occupations requiring the usage of the sight as snipers or war photographers and later on to ail professions involving visual art and art in general, which is supposed to mask perverse tendencies under an artistic cover

Abstract:

Olsen, Lee Y. "Imagination and Deformation: Monstrous Maternal Perversions of Natural Reproduction in Early Modern England." Diss., The University of Arizona, 2011. http://hdl.handle.net/10150/203494.

Full text
Abstract:
IMAGINATION AND DEFORMATION: MONSTROUS MATERNAL PERVERSIONS OF NATURAL REPRODUCTION IN EARLY MODERN ENGLAND examines the creation in early modern English reproductive, teratological, wonder, and fictional literature of the "monstrous mother"--a female reproductive figure capable of generating both fetal and non-fetal forms of offspring through the power of her imagination. While earlier critics have identified monstrous mothers in early modern English literature--figures who produce grotesque and/or excessive offspring, deny or obstruct nurture, commit infanticide, and sometimes exhibit their own physical deformities--such mothers require offspring to expose their monstrosity. That is, deformed, numerous, starving, sickly, or slain bodies testify to their mothers' monstrous desires, reproductive natures, and parenting practices. In contrast, I argue that monstrous maternity develops independently of the birth of offspring, and specifically, manifests during conception and pregnancy, before women deliver issue that exposes their monstrous maternal inclinations. While monstrous maternal power primarily develops from women's desires, it also remains embodied within conceiving and pregnant women, and thus permits women to generate not only deformed offspring and power, but also new, monstrous forms of generation. While monstrous mothers exercise powerful imaginative force that permits them to produce numerous types of "monstrous births," they also face antagonistic attempts to suppress their monstrous tendencies. Yet the authors of regulatory imagination texts, particularly sixteenth- and seventeenth-century obstetrical manuals, are repeatedly confounded by the monstrous mother's ability to innovate her imaginative influence when confronted with attempts to limit it. Thus, antagonism actually augments monstrous maternal power. Early modern fictional literature depicts the growth and innovation of monstrous maternity even as practitioners, husbands, and communities attempt to suppress it. Fictional works therefore re-theorize regulatory imagination theory, as they persistently underscore the uncontrollable nature of monstrous mothers and monstrous maternal reproduction.
