Abstract:
The article investigates an important stage in the development of Azerbaijan bibliography at the end of XIX - the beginning of XX century. It was a period of rapid development of book publishing, periodicals issuing, development of scientific and professional societies in Azerbaijan. All that processes were accompanied by the development of bibliographic activities. In the latter half of the XIX century there took place intensive accumulation of Oriental manuscripts and printed sources in the Russian cultural centers, particularly in St. Peterburg, Moscow and Kazan. A lot of valuable culture and art objects came to Russia from Azerbaijan. Despite the significant advance in the development of bibliographic resources of Azerbaijan, the work on their formation did not become a systematic activity. It was caused primarily by the lack of state policy in that area. There was also lack of the potential personnel, engaged in library and bibliografic activities at the professional level.

Abstract:
Pietų Afrikos rašytojo, Nobelio premijos laureato J. M. Coetzee (Kūcė) romano Peterburgo šeimininkas(The Master of Petersburg) (1994) pagrindinis herojus Fiodoras Dostojevskis 1869 m. atvyksta į Peterburgą, siekdamas išsiaiškinti savo posūnio žuvimo aplinkybes.

Abstract:
The paper deals with the diplomatic, political, trade and cultural activity of the well-known man from Herzegovina, count Sava Vladislavic, born in Dubrovnik. It provides a short review of his trading activities in Venice, Spain and France, and then in greater detail sheds light on his business and his political-intelligence work in Constantinople at the end of the 17th and the beginning of the 18th century for the state interests of the czarist Russia. Gifted and educated, tactful, with good knowledge of west and east languages, Vladislavic gained an excellent insight into the circumstances in the Ottoman Empire. From 1705 to 1738 he lived mostly in Russia, becoming one of the most accomplished Russian diplomats and one of the richest persons in the czarist Russia. During his stay in Venice in 1716-1722, he did several different tasks (trading, negotiations with the Pope Clement XI about the concordat); in these activities, he left a deep trace collecting statues, busts and other works of art for the decoration of the newly-founded Russian capital Sankt Peterburg. The peak of his diplomatic state activity was his diplomatic mission in China in 1725-1728.
