Abstract:
A weakening or defect in posterolateral abdominal wall can lead to development of lumbar hernia. These defects are particularly common in Petit's inferior triangle or Grynfeltt-Lesshaft superior triangle. There are very few cases of primary lumbar hernias that have been described in literature till date. As it is a rare entity, it is often misdiagnosed, leading to delay in management. We present a case of a 66-year-old male with no previous surgery who presented with a mass in left lumbar region for last ten years. The mass gradually increased in size and caused vague dragging pain. On Compute

Lumbar hernias are very infrequent posterior abdominal wall defects. They are usually located in the upper lumbar triangle and represent approximately 1.5-2% of all hernias of the abdominal wall. Abstract:
Lumbar hernia is a rare defect of the abdominal wall. It accounts for 2% of all wall hernias. It is divided in two levels: superior lumbar hernia, also known as Grynfeltt’s hernia (GH), and an inferior lumbar hernia or Petit’s hernia. They are in most of the cases secondary to trauma or previous surgery but primary lumbar hernias are rare. Computed tomography (CT) is a very useful tool for the diagnosis of lumbar hernia. It can delineate the neck of the hernia and hernial contents. We reported a case of 60 years old male parient with primary jean louis Petit’s hernia.

Abstract Aim To describe a step by step open surgical technique of a primary left Petit´s hernia in an elderly patient. Introduction Petit's lumbar hernia is a rare defect of the posterior abdominal wall. It appears at the level of the lower lumbar triangle, limited by the iliac crest at the inferior border, the external oblique muscle as the lateral border, and the latissimus dorsi muscle as the medial border. Methods We present the case of an 84-year-old woman who consulted for a mass in the left lumbar region. On physical examination, an increase in volume was appreciated in the left lumbar

Abstract Background Lumbar hernias are an uncommon presentation, with only 300 cases published to date. The aetiology is variable, and they usually present as palpable masses or swellings in the lumbar region. We present a case of successful laparoscopic transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) repair of a lumbar hernia with mesh. Case report A 62-year-old male patient, with a history of sarcoidosis and hypertension, was referred to general surgeons with a symptomatic enlarging swelling in the left lumbar region.
