Al-Mg-Si alloys are usually applied a T4 temper as the plate material for automobile bodies due to the necessity of a high bake hardening property. Many reports about the improvement in the bendability of Al-Mg-Si alloys applied a T4 temper have been published, because they easily crack during the hemming process. On the other hand, Al-Mg-Si alloys applied T6 and T7 tempers are used as the material of wiring plates and heat radiation devices. A high electrical conductivity and good bendability are necessary for these devices. In this study, the effect of the aging conditions on the bendability

The corrosion resistance (exfoliation corrosion and inter-granular corrosion) and mechanical properties (strength and hardness) of a high-alloying Al-Zn-Mg-Cu-Zr alloy were improved by the synergistic effect of Ce addition and aging treatment. Ce addition promotes the morphology change of grain boundary precipitates from continuous form to discontinuous form at T6 temper. But the Cu content in grain boundary precipitates became much lower than that in Ce-free alloy, owing to a large amount of Cu being trapped in AlCuCe phase. Hence retrogression and re-aging (RRA) treatment were then adopted.

Radiocarbon dates from the lowermost levels in midden excavations suggest that people began to live at Crystal River sometime in the first century AD, during the Middle Woodland period. Phase 1 was relatively short, probably lasting only a century or two. Evidence from features and GPR suggest that the village was comprised of a scatter of small houses. Isotopic analysis of the shells of oysters suggest that the settlement was impermanent. Ceramics (including Deptford pottery) from this interval show disparity in temper suggestive of two communities of practice. It would thus seem that the dispersed groups that had congregated at the site to participate in ceremonies for hundreds of years began residing for longer intervals.

This chapter presents an analysis of ceramic artifacts collected during recent Audrey site excavations. Jar rims are seriated using established chronological sequences from Cahokia; these patterns are considered in conjunction with AMS dates from four features to date the site to Cahokia’s early Stirling phase (AD 1100–1150). An interregional comparative analysis of ceramic temper, surface finish, orifice diameter, and vessel class from the Audrey site, Greater Cahokia, and northern hinterland regions is conducted to determine the degree to which Audrey inhabitants adopted Cahokian potting practices and/or retained traditional Woodland-era potting techniques and foodways. Finally, the presence of exotic, non-Cahokian pottery at Audrey and northern hinterland sites is considered as potential evidence for interregional exchange and interaction among northern groups.

“That’s disgusting!” “His voice is so obnoxious!” “She is totally ineffective.” Each of these opinions has something in common: the statements are absolute, the opinions are delivered as universal truths. When we speak like this, we announce our feelings and beliefs as if there could be no reasonable disagreement. We skew the very real probability of multiple opinions, and we convince ourselves of our “rightness.” Are we all prone to treating opinion, especially ours, as fact? Maybe. What would change for us if we habitually acknowledge that our opinion simply represents “I?” The quotes above do little to elicit communication or invite conversation. “I” in those statements is just “I.” But the “I” seems to imply, “I don’t like it, and you shouldn’t either!” Are we interested in the response of the listener? Do we ask? When we accept that “I is just I,” we humble ourselves to acknowledge we are sharing a perspective, not a decree. Then our language changes. Our perspectives change. We open ourselves to alternative ways of seeing and appreciating co- workers and students. • “She is hopeless” becomes “She seems to struggle with these assignments.” • “He is a bully” becomes “He has some social issues going on.” • “She is a loser” becomes “She is struggling, and I hope she moves past this phase.” Those of us willing to acknowledge that “I is just I” temper our pronouncements about others. That softening of self can be felt inside our skin. We feel it in our eyes. We feel it in our breathing. We feel it in our spirit. And when we feel that softening, our vitality returns.
