A specimen of Neostethus bicornis was collected on 8 April 2018 in Musi River, South Sumatra Province, Indonesia. The specimen was identified, photographed and preserved. No scientific publication has previously reported N. bicornis in the South Sumatran waters, nor in any other areas in Sumatra. Recent finding of N. bicornis in South Sumatran waters is a first providing evidence to confirm its presence in Sumatra.

A new species of priapiumfish, Phallostethus cuulong, is described based on nine specimens collected from the Vietnam-ese Mekong. This is the third species of the genus, following the type species P. dunckeri (from Malay peninsula) and P.lehi (from northwestern Borneo), and distinguished from them by having: seven serrae on the second ctenactinium in adultmales (vs. five in P. dunckeri and eight in P. lehi); 25–26 caudal vertebrae (vs. 27 in P. dunckeri and 28 in P. lehi); approx-imately 5–19 teeth on paradentary (vs. 15–20 and 28 or more in P. dunckeri and P. lehi, respectively). Dong Nai biosphere reserve (DNBR) is well known for its high level of biodiversity and of global meaningful ecosystem. The fauna includes 84 species of mammals belonging to 28 families, 10 orders; 407 bird species; 141 reptile and amphibian species; 175 fish species; 2,017 insect species. The fish fauna of DNBR maintains many rare and endangered fish species recorded in the Vietnam red book and international union for conservation of nature red list (IUCN's red list) such as Scleropages formosus and many other rare fish species, such as Morulius chrysophekadion, Chitala ornata, Probarbus julli

Reproduction in the family Phallostethidae is an area that has long been of interest especially in gonadal structure and gametogenesis. However, no published data concerning as mentioned above in Neostethus lankesteri Regan, 1916 from Thailand is noted. This fish is important for rural livelihood in the estuarine fisheries of Pranburi River estuary, Thailand. The construction of the female reproductive system of N. lankesteri composed of the ovary and short oviduct. The mature ovarian morphology is a single organ, which is histologically considered to be an asynchronous development ovary. The
