Abstract:
In this investigation, thin-walled circular cylindrical specimens fabricated from a low alloy pressure vessel steel (ASTM A-516 Gr. 70) were subjected to various multiaxial loading conditions. The tests were conducted under strain-controlled condition, and loading was provided through an axial actuator and internal and external pressure across the specimen wall. Four in-plane strain ratios (ρ = Δεt/Δεa) were tested, and the most damaging case was the equi-biaxial in-plane straining, ρ = 1. For the latter condition, 90 deg out-of-phase loading was also investigated. These tests indicated a dramatic decrease in the number of cycles to failure, Nf, as a result of out-of-phase loading. The influence of the plastic strain path on life is thus clearly demonstrated. It is shown that the total strain energy density, ΔWt = ΔWe+ + ΔWp, correlates with both the in-phase and out-of-phase cyclic tests, and therefore is a proper damage parameter to be used for life predictions. A brief description of how ΔWt can be calculated is given for the case of proportional loading. The predicted results are compared with the experimental data, and the agreement is found to be very good indeed.

Abstract:
Psychiatric hospital records were used to ascertain whether acting-out behavior increases during the full moon phase. Acting-out behavior is identified as that which was dangerous to self or others to the extent that either seclusion or restraint was deemed necessary by qualified mental health professionals to prevent physical harm. Records in the seclusion/restraint log book of an Alabama hospital for 1982, 1983, and 1984 were used for the study. To ensure confidentiality no identification of subjects was made. This study, like many previous similar studies shows no significant increases during the full moon phase.

Abstract:
Abstract This study investigated the effectiveness of a new method of reducing scour in river bends. In this method, a perforated tube was placed along the bend on the bed and water and air were separately injected into the bend flow from both ends of the tube. The goal was to make a water and air screen to block secondary flows and prevent them from reaching the outer bank. The air jet and water jet injection modes changed the location of maximum scour depth from the outer wall to the middle of the bend, which increased the navigable width. Increasing the spacing between tube ports decreased the maximum scour depth. A port spacing of 5 cm was determined to be the optimal amount. At a bend section of 90°, the decrease in maximum scour depth was estimated to be 85% and 91% under air jet injection (qa/Q = 2.74) and water jet injection (qw/Q = 0.17), respectively. At 170°, the decrease in maximum scour depth was 79% and 86% for the air jet and water jet, respectively. The results show that the optimal effect was obtained by water jet injection.

Abstract:
The data of the Far East Region on the use of new highly effective developments of research institutions in solving problems of import substitution in agricultureare given. As a result of the activity of the five scientific institutions of the region, 162 varieties of various agricultural crops have been introduced in the Register of Selection Achievements, including: 49 – soybean, 40 –fruit and berry crops, 25 – potato and vegetables, 15 – perennial grasses, 33 –cereal and groats crops. All created varieties are resistant to environmental conditions and pests, they have a high potential for productivity, which is implemented in difficult weather and climatic conditions with limited thermal resources. The soybean varieties of the Far Eastern selection are highly yield in the limited heat conditions. In the last five years the variety assortment was renewed by 90 per cent. In this period Far Eastern breeders delivered in to production 25 high yield not transgenic varieties, 17 of them was selected in the all-Russian research organization institute of the soybean (RROI of the soybean) , them also very popular in Krasnoyarsk and Altai territories. The seed treatment by the fertilizers produced on the basis of high-activity stock culture combining with active phosphorus and potassium favors the yield increase to 462.97 …2020.25 pounds hereby increase the payback of 2.20 pounds fertilizers active ingredient to 2,8…12,3 kg of the grain.
