<strong>Purpose:</strong><em> The purpose of this article is to i) explain every step of the Ph.D. journey along with their importance, priority, and weightage, ii) provide a Ph.D. planner template, iii) introduce a self-evaluation calculator to understand scholars&rsquo; Ph.D. progress, iv) throw some light on career opportunities for the Ph.D. holders, and v) Ph.D. holder&rsquo;s responsibilities.</em> <strong>Design/Methodology/Approach: </strong><em>Postmodernism philosophical paradigm; Inductive research approach; Observation data collection method; Longitudinal data collection time frame; Qualitative data analysis. </em> <strong>Findings/Result:</strong><em> As long as the Ph.D. scholars can understand i) which step of the Ph.D. journey is important?; ii) which step needs scholars&rsquo; efforts?; iii) which steps require external support?; iv) what are the career prospects of a Ph.D. holder; v) what are the responsibilities of a Ph.D. scholar? They will be able to complete their Ph.D. journey in time and without complications.</em> <strong>Originality/Value:</strong><em> There is a vast literature about research methodology and other aspects of the research. Abstract:
The current work focuses on using Schiff base ligand a tetra-dentate (cipro-p-phd) made from Ciprofloxacin and p-phenylenediamine. UV-visible spectroscopy, 1H-NMR, FT-IR, TGA, (C.H.N), as well as measuring magnetic susceptibilities, fusion point and molar conductivity were used to examine the compounds. The physical measurement showed that the ligand was linked to the central atoms by oxygen atoms from carboxylate groups and nitrogen atoms from azomethine groups. Based on the measurements all compounds have tetrahedral structure, with the exception of the nickel (II) complex, which has a square planner configuration. Computer simulations and experimental data utilizing Density Functional Theory (DFT) provided additional support. Their radical scavenge activities were evaluated using the (DPPH) 2,2-Diphenyl1-picrylhydazyl assessment in comparison to ascorbic acid. Additionally, both Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria were included in the antibacterial evaluation. The ligand was tested as a ligand with DNA gyrase employing molecular docking studies with S. aurous and E. coli.

Dr Petsimeris studied architecture at the Technical University of Turin, town planning at the Technical University of Milan, and Urban Social Geography at the University of Caen where he received his PhD in 1987 and his Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches in 1992. He worked as an architect and planner at the Collettivo di Archittetura with Professor Biagio Garzena. He has been Visiting Professor at the Universities of Pisa, Trento, Udine, Turin, Naples (Istituto Universitario Orientale) and has lectured at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris(1992-1996) and at the Universities of Rome (La Sapienza), Barcelona, Florence, Milan, Bologna and Joensuu. Since 1994 he has been Professor at the University of Caen and a member of the Centre de Recherche sur les Espaces et les Sociétés (CRESO) of the CNRS. He has published extensively on urbanization, settlement systems, housing and residential segregation in international journals, and edited two books in Italian on urban networks and the social division of urban space in Europe. The journal Urban Studies offered him the Urban Studies Research Fellowship at the University of Glasgow for 1997 and 2003. In this context he is now carrying out research on urban diffusion in Southern Europe. Dr Petsimeris is a member of the World Society for Ekistics (WSE). The text that follows is a slightly edited and revised version of a paper presented at the WSE Symposion "Defining Success of the City in the 21st Century," Berlin, 24-28 October, 2001.

Abstract BACKGROUND Recurrent glioblastoma (rGBM) is rapidly fatal (median overall survival [mOS] of ~9 months; OS at 12 months [OS12] &amp;lt; 35%) with approved therapies (lomustine±bevacizumab). PVSRIPO is an intratumoral immunotherapy targeting CD155 on antigen-presenting and malignant cells of solid tumors. Preclinically, PVSRIPO delivers a systemic, tumor antigen-specific, polyfunctional T-cell mediated anti-tumor response. Interim, single-center, phase (Ph) 1 results showed greater long-term survival with PVSRIPO vs. criteria-matched external control rGBM patients (Desjardins 2018). Updates to Ph1 safety (at the Ph2 dose) and efficacy and interim multicenter (Ph2) results are presented. METHODS Adults with histologically-confirmed rGBM, Karnofsky performance status ≥ 70, and an active, supratentorial, contrast-enhancing lesion (1-5.5cm) received PVSRIPO (5x107 TCID50) intratumorally via convection-enhanced delivery on Day 1, with a planned follow-up of 24 months. Safety (treatment-emergent adverse events [TEAEs]), efficacy (reported as OS12, OS24, mOS), and blood/tissue were assessed. RESULTS 149 patients (&amp;gt;90% with 1-2 prior progressions, including failure of SOC and patients with prior bevacizumab failure) received the Ph2 dose of PVSRIPO (n=30 received other doses in Ph1 with safety summarized previously). Follow-up durations for surviving patients were 51-74 months (Ph1) and 10-44 months (Ph2). No dose-limiting toxicities occurred; up to 97% of patients experienced mostly grade 1-2 related TEAEs; ≤ 23% patients experienced grade ≥ 3 related events. Neurologic symptoms related to peritumoral edema were most common ( &amp;gt; 90% patients) and were effectively managed with low-dose bevacizumab/corticosteroids. Survival estimates were: OS12: 54%, 50%; OS24: 18%, 17%; mOS: 12.3 (95% CI 10,15.3), 12 (10.6,13.7) months, for the Ph1 and Ph2 trials, respectively. Baseline correlates of longer survival included smaller lesions and methylated MGMT-promoter status. CONCLUSIONS The multicenter/Ph2 study replicated the single-center/Ph1 results. Relative to published data with approved therapies, PVSRIPO was associated with greater long-term survival and mOS in patients with rGBM and was generally well-tolerated.

Introduction: Nursing in Bhutan had its beginning in the early 1960s, approximately 20 years prior to the Alma Ata Conference. From basic nursing care and housekeeping roles, Bhutanese nurses have now occupied central place in nursing service, administration and management and education. Nursing education has progressed from certificate level in the 1960s to bachelor, master and PhD levels in 2014. Although nurses have been closely associated with Primary Health Care development in Bhutan, apart from the role of the Auxiliary Nurse Midwives, nurses have rarely been explicitly associated with this area of practice. Therefore, the objective of this study was to find out the role of Bhutanese Nurses in PHC.&#x0D; Methods: qualitative case study method was used to carry out focus group and in-depth interviews with 66 respondents that included policy makers, planners, educators, regulators and implementers. Data were analyzed through manifest and latent content analysis.&#x0D; Results: The centrality of the nursing role in the area of PHC has not been realized. Discharge of the PHC role was identified more in terms of the place of work and by title or designation of the nurses. Primary Health Care momentum appeared to have slowed down and nurses differed in their understanding of PHC concept.&#x0D; Conclusion: Although Nursing in Bhutan has made much progress, the uneven development of the nurses’ role in PHC in Bhutan and globally suggests a need to identify and implement strategies such as standardizing, role profiling, curricula review and leadership improvement to ensure progress in this area.

Introduction: Prolonged phenytoin (PHD) therapy in epileptics predisposes patients to deleterious effects on bone health causing osteoporosis; however, despite its known effect on wound healing, collagen and fibroblast proliferation, and osteogenic differentiation, its impact on fracture healing remains poorly researched, we, report two cases of early exuberant callus formation in long bone fractures in patients undergoing long-term PHD therapy. Case Report: Two female patients with known seizure disorder on long-term PHD therapy experienced proximal humerus fractures after trivial trauma. Metabolic work-up revealed low serum calcium and Vitamin D3 levels with elevated ALP, serum osteocalcin, and iPTH. Despite planned surgery, both patients showed early exuberant callus formation post-trauma, leading to conservative management with successful outcomes. Conclusion: Regular bone health monitoring is crucial for patients on long-term antiepileptic therapy, especially PHD users, to enhance treatment outcomes and address potential complications. Although the influence of PHD on fracture healing is uncertain, the cases presented hint at a potential beneficial correlation, indicating a need for more research in this domain. I am a PhD candidate in the ESRC Doctoral Training Partnership at the University of Leicester and my research is focused on how perfectionism and self-compassion affect the health and quality of life of people living with a successful kidney transplant. In March 2020, I was in the process of designing my PhD studies and applying for ethical approval when the pandemic hit, plunging the UK into a national lockdown which Leicester, in particular, did not emerge from for over a year. I have written this article to talk about the changes that this meant I had to make to my research, both in terms of the studies that I planned and the recruitment and data collection methods I employed.My PhD consists of three studies: 1) A validation of a scale of intuitive eating for use with kidney transplant recipients; 2) A systematic review of the psychometric properties of that scale; and 3) A quantitative test of a theoretical model of perfectionism in illness within the context of kidney transplant recipients. The systematic review is the only planned study that was not affected by the pandemic; the other studies required significant changes to ensure they remained feasible.

Abstract Background Casirivimab and imdevimab (CAS/IMDEV) is authorized for emergency use in the US for outpatients with COVID-19. We present results from patient cohorts receiving low flow or no supplemental oxygen at baseline from a phase 1/2/3, randomized, double-blinded, placebo (PBO)-controlled trial of CAS/IMDEV in hospitalized patients (pts) with COVID-19. Methods Hospitalized COVID-19 pts were randomized 1:1:1 to 2.4 g or 8.0 g of IV CAS/IMDEV (co-administered) or PBO. Primary endpoints were time-weighted average (TWA) change in viral load from baseline (Day 1) to Day 7; proportion of pts who died or went on mechanical ventilation (MV) through Day 29. Safety was evaluated through Day 57. The study was terminated early due to low enrollment (no safety concerns). Results Analysis was performed in pooled cohorts (low flow or no supplemental oxygen) as well as combined treatment doses (2.4 g and 8.0 g). The prespecified primary virologic analysis was in seronegative (seroneg) pts (combined dose group n=360; PBO n=160), where treatment with CAS/IMDEV led to a significant reduction in viral load from Day 1–7 (TWA change: LS mean (SE): -0.28 (0.12); 95% CI: -0.51, -0.05; P=0.0172; Fig. 1). The primary clinical analysis had a strong positive trend, though it did not reach statistical significance (P=0.2048), and 4/6 clinical endpoints prespecified for hypothesis testing were nominally significant (Table 1). In seroneg pts, there was a 47.0% relative risk reduction (RRR) in the proportion of pts who died or went on MV from Day 1–29 (10.3% treated vs 19.4% PBO; nominal P=0.0061; Fig. 2). There was a 55.6% (6.7% treated vs 15.0% PBO; nominal P=0.0032) and 35.9% (7.3% treated vs 11.5% PBO; nominal P=0.0178) RRR in the prespecified secondary endpoint of mortality by Day 29 in seroneg pts and the overall population, respectively (Fig. 2). No harm was seen in seropositive patients, and no safety events of concern were identified.
