Abstract Background Increased CMV reactivation is observed following discontinuation of letermovir prophylaxis after hematopoietic cellular transplantation (HCT) and decreased CMV-specific polyfunctional T-cell immunity has been proposed as a possible mechanism (BBMT 2020;26:S68). COMPASS is a novel analytical tool that integrates polyfunctional T-cell cytokine responses into a single score value (Nat Biotechnol 2015;33:610). We employed COMPASS for the first time in the HCT setting to determine if CMV-specific immunodeficiency is associated with late CMV events in a prospective cohort of allo

Abstract Abstract 393 Epigenetic modifications influence cell fate decisions, such as stem cell self-renewal and differentiation, both in normal and leukemic stem cells (LSC). On this premise, an expression profile study of the emerging class of histone demethylating enzymes (HDE) in stem cell enriched populations was designed. Transcripts of all these enzymes (n=27) were detected in isolated HSC populations (frequency 1:2) from fetal liver and bone marrow. Similar results were obtained in HoxA9-Meis1 induced leukemia, with an inverse correlation between LSC content and the HDE Jarid1b express

Abstract Background In 2017, the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices preferentially recommended adjuvanted recombinant zoster vaccine (RZV) for adults ≥ 50 years as a two-dose series 2–6 months apart.1 We evaluated two-dose RZV completion and factors associated with completion. Methods The study included Kaiser Permanente Southern California members ≥ 50 years who received an RZV dose during April-November 2018 and had continuous membership 12 months before to 9 months after the 1st RZV dose (RZV1). Completion was defined as receipt of the 2nd dose ≥4 weeks to 9 months after RZV1 (all

While women form about half of PhD students in Western countries, previous studies have shown that female doctoral graduates are underrepresented in senior positions and have lower earnings compared to their male counterparts within and outside academia. Less is known however about the role of gender in determining the odds of securing a permanent position among doctorate recipients. In this study, we use data from the UK Doctoral Impact and Career Tracking Survey from 2013 to explore the career trajectories of doctoral graduates within seven to nine years after earning their degree. Abstract Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) possess the ability to maintain the entire population of blood cells throughout life and to replenish the hematopoietic system after transplantation into marrow-ablated recipients. In mammalian adults, HSCs predominantly reside in the bone marrow to generate and maintain all blood cell types. HSCs, however, retain their ability to migrate to ectopic niches via the bloodstream, and traffic back to the bone marrow microenvironment via in part the interactions of alpha4 integrins with Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule-1 (Vcam1, also known as CD106), constitu

METHODS All double-lung recipients transplanted at our institution from 2002 to 2018 were included in our study.
