Abstract:
We give the phenomenological constraints for a scheme which was recently proposed to investigate the approximately symmetric KM matrix in relation to the rank-one quark mass matrices. The allowed ranges for the parameters in this scheme are given. It is shown that out of the three interesting solutions of the symmetric KM matrix discussed in this scheme one is inconsistent with experiments, whereas another one requires a very heavy top quark mass (m t ≈255 GeV ) to be consistent.

The plasticity diagram is an experimental dependence of the ultimate deformation on the stiffness index of the stress state. In most works, this dependence is represented by a flat curve. Soot formation processes have been studied for more than 100 years, they include empirical and phenomenological description of conversion of various fuels to soot particles. This article provides an overview of current state of soot formation foundations, including the chemistry of soot nucleation, nucleation, mass growth as well as size of soot particles. Consideration of this issue shows that a great progress has been made, but there is still a lot of ambiguity in many areas of our knowledge. This concerns the role of aromatic molecules and radicals in nucleation and subsequent growth mass i

Recently it has been clarified by Hoang and Regner that the longstanding discrepancy between the CIPT and FOPT expansion approaches in αs determinations from the τ hadronic spectral function moments has been caused by an inconsistency of CIPT with the standard OPE approach. This inconsistency arises in the presence of IR renormalons in the underlying Adler function and is numerically dominated by the dimension-4 gluon condensate renormalon. In this talk we report on an approach to reconcile the CIPT based on a perturbative definition of a renormalon-free and scale-invariant gluon condensate sc

Manic disturbances of temporality are underemphasized in present-day accounts. For example, they are not included among criteria for manic episodes in DSM or ICD. Nonetheless, as already claimed by Binswanger (1964), aberrant temporality is core to the disorder. Persons with mania live almost exclusively in the present and hardly into the future. Especially in the larger scheme of things, their future is already here. There is no “advancing, developing or maturing,” anticipations have been achieved, all that I strive for is present – if you will just get out of my way! A half century ago, Bins

Mixing of the pseudoscalar mesons is discussed in the quark-flavor basis with the hypothesis that the basis decay constants follow the pattern of particle state mixing. The divergences of the axial vector currents which embody the axial vector anomaly, combined with this hypothesis provide a calculational scheme for the parameters describing the mixing of the π0, η and η′ mesons. Phenomenological applications of this mixing scheme are presented with particular interest focussed on isospin symmetry breaking in QCD estimated as η and η′ admixtures to the pion. In cardiac muscle, release of activator calcium from the sarcoplasmic reticulum occurs by calcium- induced calcium release through ryanodine receptors (RyRs), which are clustered in a dense, regular, two-dimensional lattice array at the diad junction. We simulated numerically the stochastic dynamics of RyRs and L-type sarcolemmal calcium channels interacting via calcium nano-domains in the junctional cleft. Four putative RyR gating schemes based on single-channel measurements in lipid bilayers all failed to give stable excitation–contraction coupling, due either to insufficiently strong inacti

AbstractThe Savage-Hutter equations of granular avalanche flows are a hyperbolic system of equations for the distribution of depth and depth-averaged velocity components tangential to the sliding bed. They involve two phenomenological parameters, the internal and the bed friction angles, which together define the earth pressure coefficient which assumes different values depending upon whether the flow is either diverging or contracting. Because of the hyperbolicity of the equations, since velocities may be supercritical, shock waves are often formed in avalanche flows. Numerical schemes solvin

Polymer quantisation is a background independent quantisation scheme inspired by loop quantum gravity. Under this quantisation scheme, it predicts that space is discretised and changes in multiples of a fundamental length scale λ. As a result, the momentum operator is not well-defined. However, a new operator can be defined such that a Schrödinger-like equation can be retrieved. The solutions give rise to eigenspectra which are similar to the standard counterparts, with an additional correction term due to λ. ABSTRACTIn this article, I show and discuss the relevance of Wittgenstein's arguments as to the spatial structure of sight to recent issues in the philosophy of mind. The first, bearing upon the dimensionality of the manifolds at play in depiction, plays a critical role in Clark's attempt to provide an independent account of qualia and of their differentiative properties. The second, pertaining to the properly spatial structure formed by the data of sight, is explicitly appealed to in the debate on the realistic character of any genuinely spatial scheme. Investigations of the mass and decays of the JPC=1-+ hybrid are reviewed, including calculation of the π1(1-+)→ηπ, η′π decay widths within the QCD sum rules technique. In this calculation, the recently-proposed η, η′ quark mixing scheme is employed. The results indicate that the decay width Γπ1→ηπ≈250 MeV is large compared with the decay width Γπ1→η′π≈20 MeV . Inspired by these results, some phenomenological approaches are suggested to gain an understanding of the underlying mechanism of ηπ and η′π hybrid decays.

The article solves the problem of rapid design of optimal stacking of a polymer laminated composite material of the traditional scheme. The existing engineering technique for laying design is based on constructive-force decomposition. However, this approach does not take into account the joint work of the layers. A solution is proposed that is based on the search for phenomenological dependencies for designing optimal styling parameters. The problem is solved by calculating the carrying capacity of a large number of styling options, searching among them for optimal solutions.
