Tabet, Pascale. "Amour et donation dans la phénoménologie de Jean-Luc Marion." Caen, 2015. http://www.theses.fr/2015CAEN1017.
Full textTo Jean-Luc Marion’s phenomenology belongs the largest possible horizon: his intuitive and prereflexive philosophy widens the field of phenomenology. The author of this book plans to explain how the erotic phenomenon as a phenomenon of saturation. A fondamental affective tonality of existence which is at the same time a border phenomenon, an excess of sense exceeding any representation of an intentionnal and reflexive consciousness, for it carries the phenomenological weight of the origin. Love demands a reduction, which cannot be understood but by a radical phenomenology of excessive donation. It is in this sense that the datum “reduced” by phenomenology must be understood – which datum is neither a being nor an object, but the sole donation which constitues the absolute immanent essence of manifestation. This research shows that the phenomenological reduction according to j. -l. Marion implies the reversal and the radicalisation of the classical phenomenology of prior thinkers such as Husserl and Heidegger. Indeed, they only focus on the essence of being, and their phenomenology remains a captive of metaphysics, inasmuch as its only horizon is still the horizon of being. The phenomenological method of Jean-Luc Marion is therefore interpreted here as a counter-method which is given to me as a counter-experience before any attempt to give it a meaning: it overcomes me with a flood of intuitions far above the concept, because it gives itself so generously. This phenomenological paradox, which Jean-Luc Marion calls “saturated phenomenon”, drives phenomenology away from transcendental ego and the intentional object, to replace them by a given ego, which receives itself from all it receives. This paradox happens with love, the ultimate condition for the possibility of the self, away from all ontic and transcendental requirement, in the sole horizon of a radical excessive donation

Full textThe present work aims to examine Marion’s phenomenological project by characterizing it as a hermeneutics of love. In doing so, I will try to find within the possibilities of the phenomenology of donation an answer to the two main objections it has received: the hermeneutic objection (Greisch, Grondin, and others) and the theological objection (Janicaud, Benoist, and others). Following the young Heidegger’s phenomenology, the phenomenology of givenness operates as a hermeneutics insofar as it must decipher the enigmatic sense of the saturated phenomenon and it does so only by philosophically appropriating a theological

Full textBetween phenomenology and apophatism : starting from Jean-Luc Marion « Poet and not honest man. We consult only the ear, because we lack heart ». There is perhaps a great proximity between this thought of Pascal and the inspiration of Marion's thought. In the article « De la “mort de dieu” aux noms divins » he alludes to a logic of charity to develop, as a task for thought. What we have tried to reconstruct is the development of this inspiration, having as a starting point the concept of negation, as it emerges in certain Certitudes négatives. Negation constitutes in this text, by the concept of negative certainty, a third enlargement of phenomenality - after the givenness and saturated phenomena - which captures not only the excess of intuition in relation to concepts, but the impossibility that excess imposes on concepts. Marion presents a discourse on the transcendental limit, to be understood as the place where a redoubled degree of reality is given. This advance, which shows that the negation belongs to the givenness, must be put into perspective with the finding, which characterizes the end of Reduction and givenness, that negation, through boredom, is the condition for accessing the donation. We tried to analyze this crux by reconstructing the emergence of negation in Marion's thought and its characters, with particular attention to the concept of distance and its genesis. In this way it has been possible to highlight the concrete articulation and centrality in Marion's work of the relationship between phenomenology and apophatism, and the way in which it can develop into a logic of charity

Full textIn response to the question of the status of hermeneutics (philosophical interpretation) within a phenomenological scheme(system) of pure givenness [J. -L. Marion], two complementary and exemplary strategies of articulation between phenomenology and hermeneutics will be examined. It concerns the direct strategy of M. Heidegger in the ontology of the finite understanding of the Dasein and the indirect strategy of P. Ricoeur in the shattered ontology of the weakened Cogito. With regard to the first individual [M. Heidegger] the phenomenon par excellence is the withdrawal of the Being from the Dasein whichs remains in the dissimulation. The task of hermeneutics is to uveil phenomenologically the original layers of the Being of the Dasein. In the second case [ P. Ricoeur], the task of hermeneutics is to reach the identity (Ipseity) of the weakened Cogito by the interpretation of the signs and texts of its traditions and cultures. The weakened Cogito is the result of a deconstruction of transcendantal Ego which arises in existence through thought. Access to the identity (Ipseity) from the weakened Cogito can only occur indirectly through the interpretation of the signs and texts, in view of a good action, in fair institutions. The question concerning the relationship between phenomenology and hermeneutics in M. Heidegger and P. Ricoeur, will give us a certain number of parameters, criteria, rules, in order to explain the specificity of hermeneutics in the phenomenological scheme of pure givenness or of reduction to the pure form of appeal [J. -L. Marion]. If comprehension occupies a primordial place in the hermeneutic phenomenology of M. Heidegger and P. Ricoeur, then what is the status of the comprehension in the paradigm of the saturated phenomenon [J. -L. Marion] ?

Full textThe Becoming-other of the Existence, Essay on Contemporary Phenomenology, is both a systematic and a historical study of phenomenology. By choosing a systematic problem of becoming-other of the existence it attempts to present and to confront five major contemporary phenomenologists in France within a single phenomenological field: Henri Maldiney, Claude Romano, Jean-Luc Marion, Renaud Barbaras, and Marc Richir. The study enters phenomenology with Edmund Husserl and presents some key original concepts invented by two generations of post-husserlian authors who marked out the road to contemporary phenomenology: Martin Heidegger, Erwin Straus, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Jan Patočka, Emmanuel Lévinas. Then it turns to “evential empiricism” in the work of Maldiney and Romano who consider the existent and the world in their belonging-together: the event is thus understood as co-birth of the subject and the world. Nevertheless, because of the fact that the existence that “becomes-other” is necessarily a finite existence, a radically separated existence from the metaphysical transcendence of the world, three other authors must become involved in the discussion: Marion, whose adonné is a limit of the givenness, and then Barbaras and Richir who explore the most archaic layers of the subjectivity within a phenomenological metaphysics. Finally, all the contours of the single phenomenal field are presented synthetically which allows to see some tasks for an actual phenomenological analysis, including one major problem of Husserl: that of the phenomenological ethics
Dění existence, esej o současné fenomenologii, je současně systematická i historická fenomenologická studie. Jejím cílem je – prostřednictvím volby systematického problému dění existence jako hlavního tématu – na pozadí jediného fenomenologického pole představit a konfrontovat pět význačných představitelů současné fenomenologie ve Francii: Henriho Maldineye, Clauda Romana, Jeana-Luca Mariona, Renauda Barbarase a Marca Richira. Studie vstupuje do fenomenologie spolu s Edmundem Husserlem a poté představuje některé klíčové originální pojmy dvou generací po-husserlovských autorů, již současné fenomenologii připravují cestu (Martin Heidegger, Erwin Straus, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Jan Patočka, Emmanuel Lévinas).

Full textEnomenalisation » in Michel Henry’s and Jean-Luc Marion’s thoughts means respectively auto-affection and saturation, two concepts that implicate some difficults : this is threatened with omission of the pathetico-extatical difference ; that by pathetic monism. In order to overcome these problems, we elaborate a phenomenological construction – the auto-hetero-donation – that synthetizes these two fundamental propositions : in the one hand, the absolute primacy of donation on objectity and etantity; in the other hand, the duality of manifestation that is compounded of immanency and transcendency. We get thus a co-donation, whose “co- ” is defined by reference to the heideggerian pattern of the “originary struggle” (Urstreit) that, in The origin of the work of art, opposes the earth (Erde) and the world (Welt). However, to be more than a pure speculation, our construction has to be confronted to the things themselves et to attest its operative fecundity in the practical, theorical, erotic and ethic dimensions of experience. Finally, phenomenalisation reveals itself a monadisation that could give us a chance to put in a new way the question of God

Full textMeister Eckhart gave to think of three big tenors of the phenomenology: Martin Heidegger, Jacques Derrida and Michel Henry. This presence of a medieval thinker, at the same time a philosopher and a theologian, is not without asking question in a contemporary context. A review of all the eckhartian occurences in phenomenology led to a double observation. On one hand, his influence is decisive and on the other hand, it is divergent. Far from being trivial, the recourse to Eckhart concerns the phenomenological method itself. It appears where the constituent power of the ego makes problem, that where the husserlian phenomenology becomes problematic. However, the solutions brought by Heidegger and by Henry are paradoxical, whereas Derrida stays in a deliberate ambiguity. Alternative or non-alternative: either let go itself in the temporality by deconstructing the ego, either get loose from the world to establish the subjectivity; either do not choose between the temporality and the ego. This conflict of interpretations can be solved only by returning to the hermeneutic principles which the Thuringian operates himself. It follows itself an opening of the ego in an athematic transcendental alterity. Because Meister Eckhart develops a real « mystic speculative », it is possible to think a theologal repercussion on the phenomenology of Husserl. The approach of formidable questions of the transcendental intersubjectivity is renewed there. Still it is necessary to accept the breakthrough of the ego

Why is it interesting to open—in 2013—this old dossier of criticisms of the given in german philosophy at the turn of the XXth. Century? First, it is shown that critiques of the given have played an essential role in the genesis of the three most important movements of german and austrian philosophy at the end of the XIXth century, namely, positivism, phenomenology, and neo-kantianism. Century. Second, this work contributes to live discussion because it is an exploration of the historical background in continental philosophy of the « Myth of the Given » introduced by Wilfrid Sellars in 1956, which still occupies a central place in contemporary debates about perception in philosophy of mind

Full textThis researh highlights a phenomenon that is the common bakground of the various modes of manifestation analysed by the french contemporary phenomenology. That phenomenon is highlighted by the analysis of the works of Jean-LucMarion, Mihel Henry and Emmanuel Levinas. The analysis of the works of Marion brings us to a definition of the metaphysics : it considers that the manifestation is always the prerogative of a subject. Against this idea, the phenomenology highlights a phenomenon that appears before any subject. The phenomenon that shows itself that way is the phenomenal. It’s on that that the donation spreads, and if that donation does not give its content to the manifestation, it is the deployment of the phases that structure the phenomenality. The analysis of the works of Henry brings us to a distinction between the way that the phenomenal appears and the way that the ego appears. The contents of the manifestation of the phenomenal is also its way of appearance, and in that sense, the phenomenal is affectivity. But that kind of affectivity is impersonal, and concerns an abundance of affective qualities. It must be distinguish from the fact to feel itself considered in itself whih is that essence of affectivity on whih the self seize its selfhood. The analysis of the works of Levinas allows a description of the deployment of the phases of the phenomenality in two movements. By a movement of enstasis, the essence of affectivity gets distilled from the phenomenal. By a movement of extasis, the gulf of the « there is », the idea of infinity, and the phenomenological distance, evaporates from the phenomenal. The unity of these two movements is called diastasis
Vinolo, Stéphane. "Jean-Luc Marion : apologie de l'inexistence." Thesis, Strasbourg, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017STRAK007.
Full textThe phenomenology of givenness is presented in the form of a project of radical opening of the field of phenomenality. After having shown that modernity has enclosed phenomena under conditions of possibility dictated by a Subject, and that German phenomenology has pursued this gesture by indexing phenomena in the horizon of objectivity or of beingness, Marion proposes to reestablish the gesture of phenomenological reduction to single donation. In so doing, he reintroduces into phenomenology some paradoxical phenomena —saturated phenomena— which violate, by excess, the receptive capacities of the Subject. Marion thus introduces into phenomenology a new modality of invisibility (and thus of visibility) which we call "inexistance" (equally opposed to non-being as to non-existence), whose structure is paradoxically founded on that of writting, since it is neither more nor less, for inexistence, than to present in a positive way an absence according to the logic of meaning. In so doing, and through this discursive structure of visibility, all Marion's phenomenology can be read as a true apology for existence

Full textThe transplant bases of the donation of an organ which, within the framework of the deathly donation, arises from a donor who is not conscious to give. The donor and recipient will never know each other, and this donation takes the senses of a reduction in the donation. It’s as if the donor gave a thing which he didn’t own ; this process takes from then on the form of a sacrifice or a redundancy of the donation, meaning that the one who received becomes the one to give, with no return expectations. It also illustrates the concept of hospitality which can be mobilized by the transplanted and the caregiver. During this interval required by the transplant, within this symbolic and technical rite, the transplante is subjected to an inconceivable and unpredictable chaotic reality. The transplanted can be wordless, and the writing, for example, can mitigate this deficiency, in the form of workshops. Such an experience was carried out during this research and will be pursued.Without opposing the approach of workshops and besides the advantage of a simpler implementation, the narrative was imperative for three reasons :- it is the first possible form of action after a long period of inactivity.- It helps the transplanted to give a coherence to the tranplantation. Even if it is narrative construction, it participates in the individuation of the transplanted, a precondition to envisage new actions.- Finally, this narrative can be restored to the doctor who experienced the act to tranplant, contrary to the sick person. The hypothesis is that this hospitality made for the narrative allows on one hand, to reverse the ususal plan – the caregiver is in the position of the one who receives, not of the one who gives - , on the other hand, to give credit to the narrative. And, to propose that the rehabilitation phase, related to the heavy therapeutic acts, begins with this type of narrative where the sick person speaks and the caregiver listen to, without no other purpose, for the latter, than to accept and receive

Full textAbandonment is viewed as a major kind of helplessness and child's rejection by parents, opening a specific and original field to rebuilding of social link. The reconstruction is centered in the second family myth and social working. Substitute family and social workers are mediators between the first family which is incestuous and violent -unable to create psychically- and the quest for a state-guaranteed social acknowledgment. Such a delegation realises a vicarious mission, the goal of which being to reconcile the family law and the city law, about a child's personalization: it is a sublimatory aim. It takes root in guilt and rivalry; but the deadly and symptomatic side of them may be perceived when vicarious action is likely to spoil. As a rule guilt and rivalry are appearing outside a therapeutic and transference settle, since they are displaying as veiled through new substitute parenthood and social organisation so as to screen their own pathologic features. Thus the matter consists of binding such an experience of vicarious action to the genesis of categories that frame and organize it in the social field. Therefore that connection deals with phenomenology and not only with clinical psychopathology. Those categories are the following: artificial parental link and public education. This collective awareness of abandonment and rebuilding of social link is typified in two shapes: firstly vicarious foster working, secondly vicarious adoptive action. The former shows a relation to state power regarding an actual kind of universality; but that sublimation most often finds out an incompleteness through its common and narcissic features with perversion. The latter reveals how the state is giving up its own power and how the adoptive family may recover the common status of basic family. So this analysis brings to light a correspondence between a process of socialization and a psychological organization. Showing sociability strata and their mutations may contribute to an anthropology of some cultural changes and enlighten the practitioner's behaviour as well as ethics

Full textThis thesis concerns E. Fink's phenomenology of phenomenology, witch the “Sixth Cartesian meditation” (1932) is the main document. The research is focussed to address it in its basic issue and to analyse it in its different forms. To reach this result a series of investigations both in Finkian phenomenology of phenomenology and in Husserl's phenomenology were performed. In the last one we find the methodological problem that Fink explored in the “Sixth meditation”: the phenomenalizing of original temporality. This item was elaborated by Fink as the problem of unity between the transcendental reduction and the return of the phenomenological onlooker into the natural attitude. In this work we highlight the importance of concept of Schwingung to think these double movements of phenomenalizing: this does not consist for the phenomenological onlooker to put himself in the constitutive level of original temporality, bur to oscillate [schwingen] between it and the constitutive level of immanent time

With a global and national shortage in the number of registered organ donors, this study analyzed thirteen episodes from popular medical dramas that aired between 2016-2020 to determine what themes were present amongst the analyzed shows. The analyzed shows included in this study were: Grey's Anatomy, The Good Doctor, New Amsterdam, Chicago Med, and The Resident. The aim of this study was to allow for a better understanding of how the media utilized entertainment television to portray storylines related to organ donation. From the analysis, six major themes emerged: Urgency of Transplant, Ethical Decision-Making, Emotional Impacts of Organ Donation on Patient and Families, Familial Relationships Impacting Donation, Viewer Education via Vicarious Learning, and Excitement Surrounding Surgery. In addition to the emergence of these themes, the analysis revealed both favorable and unfavorable cues related to organ donation were present in these entertainment storylines. This study illuminated the ongoing efforts made by the entertainment television industry to portray organ donation in a factual manner and to provide the viewing public with opportunities for organ donation education.

Full textFirst, I compare Descartes' and Spinoza's theories of passions and I evaluate the impact of those theories on the traditionnal body-mind problem. I analyze in detail Descartes' hesitation between two accounts of emotions : on one hand, Descartes explained emotions as psychological states having their reasons; on the other, he accounted for them by their physiological causes. In Spinoza's naturalistic approach, emotions are analyzed in their own terms, neither specifically material. But the problem for Spinoza remains the same and its is the one we are still facing nowadays : we can causally connect emotions with other cognitive states such as believes, desires and judgments, or we can explain them in terms of bodily processes. It seems thus necessary to bridge the explanatory gap between the psychological and physiological accounts of emotions. I resist the reductionist approach of contemporary "affective neuroscience" since objective differences on the physiological level cannot explain the qualitative discrepancy between more sensations (e. G. Headache or hunger) and emotions that can be evaluated according to their appropriatieness or (ir)rationality. This is because emotions, unlike feelings, involve implicit judgments of the changes in one's relationship to the environment. But, I also resist the cognitive approaches to emotions according to which emotions consist mostly in "propositional attitues". Finally, I present my own "somatic appraisail theory" inspired by phenomenology that should provide a reconciliation of the two approaches. I argue that through emotions, we are bodily evaluating the relationship between our goals and our environment

OD rates for each measure were calculated for 10 countries for the years 2001--2004. Relative rates were calculated using Spain as the standard.
Results. We found variations in relative rates across the proposed measures. Regardless of the measure used Spain excelled.
Conclusion. If the purpose of the OD rate is to identify the top performer internationally, it may not matter which measure is used providing this is done with an understanding of its limitations.

Full text"The phenomenology of seduction" is viewed according to Gaston Bachelard’s philosophy. The categories of seducer and seduction, which are usually derived from psychology, have been overtaken by the concept of seduction which is present at the individual levels of immanent reality. This phenomenology describes the essence of attraction and its various expressions : love, eroticism, desire, perversion, rhetoric and politics. But seduction is an intuition that becomes an additional source of joy and produces an overabundant being in the world because it holds in itself the power that is the distinctive feature of attraction. The Subject must have an emotional structure that enables him or her to bring about new forms of seduction because the latter is a political entity which everyone fashions in himself or herself. We offer an new aesthetic reason that transcends the notions of the beautiful, of art and of the sublime and put it at the heart of the being so that, with his or her will of power and imagination, he or she may develop new values to assert life and the sacred in the world of imagination

Full textThe thesis provides an analysis of photography from a phenomenological perspective. The aim is to establish a phenomenology of the photographic image by means of a hermeneutical approach to the "perception" of the object (as "object of the experience"). My argument draws on a corpus of relevant theoretical responses to the status of the image and associated processes of imagination. The main topics of discussion are: (1) the specificity of the photographic image (which inevitably implies the couple index-icon) within the framework of a general typology of the image, (2) the relationship of photography to reality, (3) the phenomenological constitution of the photographic image and its reception, (4) the problem of the meaning, (5) the problem of truth in the photography, (6) the question of temporality and the related issues of memory and documentary evidence, (7) the postmodern discourse on photography and its proclamation of the death of photography

Full textWondering about the increasing use of the word « mediation », I reviewed some of the most common practices referring to this word which was, in some cases, misused. On this basis, I strived to draw the outline of a concept in need of definition. In doing so, I identified two characteristics of mediation, namely the triangularity and the non-directivity, as well as its two prerequisites, i.e. the consent of the participants and the recognition of the mediator. Moreover, I noted that mediation does not apply only to situations of conflict and that its stake is not exclusively emotional. It could be material, leading to a negotiating mediation. Crossing these two variables, I then propose a typology of mediation practices. In a second part of my thesis, I set up a phenomenological analysis of mediation, using video recordings of role playing. This analysis led me to broaden my own perspective, from a mediation as « mediator’s action » to a more complex scenario that I called « mediative situation », where the mediator influences the participants and is in turn influenced by them. This situation, far from being restricted to an established practice, is indeed a social and frequent phenomenon. The confidence the participants have in the mediator, the role they give him/her as a “secure base” and as an alternative to the face to face situation, and his function in supporting communication, lay the basic condition of the mediative situation, a long way ahead of mediations techniques

Full textBackground: Donation of organic tissue and/or organs is crucial in the transplantation network. Transplantation has existed for a long time but it has grown substantially during the last few years. Despite of this there is a shortage of donors and knowledge of the subject. Aim: The aim was to examine the nursing student’s knowledge and attitudes towards donation and transplantation and examine if there are any differences between men and women in knowledge and attitudes. Method: Eighty four out of 439 participants responded to an internet survey, 22 men and 62 women from 1st – 6th semester in the nursing program. Results: The major reasons stated not to donate were ethical reasons 17%, (n=14) and lack of information 17%, (n=14). The results could not show any relevant differences between the genders when it came to attitudes, tendencies or reasons to donate or not donate. The attitudes towards transplantation and donation of tissue were entirely positive 100% (n=84) despite the fact that only 48% (n=40) of the participators were registered donors. Ninety-six percent (n=81) of the studied group would consider receiving a transplant if it could save their lives or enhance their quality of life. Blood components 78%, (n=66) and organs/other tissue 70%, (n=59) were the most common choices to donate and the reason seemed to be altruism. Conclusion: To conclude, more knowledge is needed for the general public to make well-grounded decisions concerning donations and also more research and studies are needed to be conducted in the field of transplantation.

Various human activities and constant changing in the climate have contributed to the occurrence of disasters in various regions of the globe, enhancing the natural and socio-economic vulnerability in these regions. Scholars, government agencies and non-governmental institutions have concentrated efforts to create new procedures to mitigate disasters and promote humanitarian assistance. The need to effectively provide humanitarian relief to victims of disaster in the shortest possible time introduced a new area of knowledge, the humanitarian logistics. Combining knowledge of logistics and supply chain management business, humanitarian logistics is to apply those theory and corresponding practices in support of people affected by disaster events. This dissertation aims to contribute to the improvement of the procedure of collecting donations, avoiding the detour and streamlining the purchasing process and delivery of materials to the needy population. For this, we created a computer system that, through a website, receives donations and redirects them to a bank account to be determined, with the interface of a virtual store that will show first the supply needs in the disaster area (food, medicine, clothing, etc.) and then the total monetary value of the items and quantities chosen by the donor, which may be paid by the principal means available (credit card, debit card, transfer, billet). In particular, the proposed system takes into account the displacement of material, the existing deposits of materials and the price of the materials from suppliers to obtain the lowest total cost, that is, the total amount donated corresponding to the lowest prices of materials and the smallest displacements to the location of disaster, considering the capacity the deposits.

Full textThe smile is a distinctive funny face (grimace) appearing on a human face, with several dimensions: physiological , psychological and social. The descriptive analysis of the smile, its distinction from laughter, but also what characterizes it as a specific and expressive sign language, with respect to animal expression, make it possible to establish that the one who smiles places himself in a situation of openness to others and to the world, and in a state of non-coincidence to oneself which is a characteristic of humanity. That's why, seeing someone smile is not only about recognizing an emotion, or even sharing it. It is experiencing the way an individual inhabits the world and finds his bearings. It is to sense the possibility of a new kind of relationships between human beings, a shift to an open society and morality. Lastly, thanks to the irony and charm of some smiles, seeing someone smile is the opportunity to feel the almost imperceptible presence of a Je-ne-sais-quoi (I don't know what) which is able to fulfill our lives. Such subtle qualities of the smile have never been ignored by religious spiritualities. Within each of them, the smile has a place identifiable from writings or iconographic documents. Nevertheless this place is hardly ever highlighted. The smile, perhaps because of its openness that characterizes it, can be a threat to all the thoughts that become rigid

Full textAt the heart of phenomenology lies a metaphysical claim according to which the phenomenal stream of lived experience (Erlebnisstrom) derives its meaning and its being from itself, rather than from some external or underlying reality. Moreover, this claim of the existential autonomy of the phenomenal stream, or of the equivalence of being and appearing, can only be verified through a complete transformation of our relationship to the world, where we seek to become mindful of things, and of the mystery in which they are steeped, rather than seeking to master them. Taken together, this metaphysical claim and this attitude of letting-be (Seinlassen) constitute the two pillars of phenomenology as a way of life, which the present thesis proposes to describe in broad outline. To do so, we focus our research on the work of the founder of phenomenology, Edmund Husserl, which we submit however to an internal critique; it is Husserl who both allows us to contemplate the idea of phenomenology as a way of life and at the same time poses the greatest obstacle to it. This tension within Husserlian thought can be seen in the two imperatives that define it: that of the “return to the things themselves”, on the one hand, and that of eidetic description, on the other. With the help of various interlocutors – who allow us to interrogate Husserl retrospectively (Pyrrho), contemporaneously (James, Bergson) and prospectively (Heidegger) – we show that these two imperatives are in fact incompatible, and propose in order to lift this contradiction to eliminate one of its terms, namely the imperative of eidetic description. Thus a path is cleared for a phenomenology that fully commits itself to its existential vocation. Finally, in parallel to this internal critique of Husserl, and to better support it, we develop a genetic explanation of the transcendental ἐποχή, where it is characterized as a conversion from the natural attitude to a post-reflective, that is mystical, form of consciousness

Full textThe imagination is an originary act of conscience that creates a multiplicity of imaginary worlds, based on the distinction between the different types of intentional constitution of images. Opposed to the perception that requires a sensible saturation of the intentional act, the image has no intuitive appearance and supposes an intentional conflict. The traditional concept of image has no meaning anymore, the image is understood as a dynamic reality that requires a triple intentional constitution as a physical object a "Bildoject" and a "Bildsubject". Husserl makes a difference between the images that suppose the simultaneous constitution of all three objects (photography and memories as images created by association and art as a symbolic image) and images that require the simultaneous constitution of two objects (the theater as perceptive and symbolic fictum, the fiction as action fictum, and the dream as pure fictum)

Full textOur purpose in this work is to build a phenomenological description of human love through three ways of investigation. First, we describe love as a mode of intentionnality, with Scheler's and Husserl's analysis, in order to elucidate how love reveals or constitutes values. Then, in the second part, we approach the phenomenological problem of love as configuration of a new world, by reconsidering the debate between Heidegger and Binswanger about his function within the Dasein existential analysis. By doing so, the problem of love appears in his connection with ontology. In the third part of this work, we finally try to expose the human meaning of love, which appears in Sartre's phenomenology. By including love in a phenomenology of existence, Sartre allows us to understand how it must be described with the opposition of authenticity and inauthenticity, that is to say without including any theological presupposition in the phenomenological description

Full textPsychiatric phenomenology is an ambiguous object, whose status is difficult to clarify. Fundamentally, our goal is to contribute to define what is psychiatric phenomenology and to clarify its range of validity. For that purpose, we focus our study on three major authors : Heidegger, Binswanger and Maldiney. At first, we study why and how phenomenology and psychiatry were brought together by Binswanger, and why he favoured phenomenology to the detriment of others theories which were contemporary. Then we compare the different models of existence developped by each of the three autors within the framework of the psychiatric problematics. We finally rule on the relationship and the interest of psychiatric phenomenology for psychiatric pratical tasks, and on how we can conceive of the relationship between phenomenolgy and psychiatry within psychiatric phenomenology
