Full textThis work aims at presenting a muliperspectival view on Le Moniage Guillaume long, chanson de geste composed in the last quarter of XIIth century and transmitted by seven manuscripts. My work is divided in three main sections: 1) Philological study; 2) Critical edition, annex and glossary; 3) Study of the narrative models and of the cultural models, which emerges in the two main branches of the poem (Moniage ‘proprement dit’ and branche d’Ysoré). The first section is divided in three chapters: In the first chapter, some of the issues related to the connection between Moniage Guillaume long (MGl) and Moniage Guillaume bref (MGb) are studied. The study proceeds with a description of the manuscripts through which the MGl is transimitted, then with a presentation of the recensio, followed by the proposal of a new stemma codicum, rather different from the one provided by the first editor of the chanson (W. Cloetta, 1906-1911). A study of the versification of the poem concludes this chapter. In the second chapter, the critical edition is introduced. I start from the critical discussion of the two previous editions of the MGl (Cloetta 1906-1911, Andrieux-Reix 2004), both methodologically outdated. The principles of my new edition are therefore outlined: I propose a reconstruction of the ‘subarchetype/adaptation’ A. Subsequently, the transcription criteria are exposed as well as the critical apparatus. This apparatus is highly innovative: it is organized in three sections. In the first of them, the corrective interventions on A4 (my manuscript de référence) are pointed out. The second section is divided in a left and a right field: the first one contains the varia lectio of the whole tradition; the second one shows the ‘macro-variants’ (verses belonging to the others subarchetypes, omissions of A and of the others subarchetypes, inversions etc.). Further, the right field is linked to the critical text with a réclames system; in this way the reader will be more easily oriented, in a sort of ‘triangulation’ between text, right field and left field of the apparatus. The exposition of the ratio of the reconstructive interventions concludes the chapter. The third chapter consists in a study of the ms. A4 and it is composed of a codicological paragraph, a study of the enluminures, and a linguistic study. The second section of my work consists in the critical edition of MGl , followed by an annex and a little glossary. The third section consists in the study of the narrative models of the poem’s first and last branches (the two undoubtedly ‘originals’). The analysis relies on a morphological basis: the adhesion of the récits to the meta-plot enucleated by V. Propp in his Morphology of the fairy-tale is certified. I used the Propp’s scheme as a guide for my narrative analysis: whenever I found out a narrative function, I substantiated the study with anthropological dossiers, pointing out the interlink between the historical and historico-literary dimension. Among Propp’s works, my ideal reference of The Historical Roots of the Wonder Tale. In the concluding part, the interweaving of ‘carnival models’ and ‘ritual models’ emerging in the first branche is studied, along with ‘familiarizing’ (Bachtin) indicators in the first and in the last branche. In particular, the main focus is the double-edged role of the representation of food: ‘familiarizing’ element and objectual relais of ideological struggle at the same time. In this regard, certain episodes have been privileged: the analysis of the conventual bagarre, which concludes the first branche, will set the pace of the research. The study is then extended to the meeting between Guillaume and the robbers and to the first experiences of the hero within the abbey (laisses VII-XVII); some class dialectics proper to the Central Middle-Ages (relationship between great aristocracy, monks and sergents) are underlined in this part

Full textThis thesis consists in the redaction of a dictionary about names of places of a gascon territory. This work requires a reflection about the disciplinary practices in Roman microtoponym. After the analysis, the offered models remain not enough. We propose a methodological combination which privileges the acquired tools of lexicography. Our documentary sources put at the same level the two pillars of researches, which are the written documentation and the oral speech gathered by the means of questionnaires given to the speakers. Our questionnaires suffered an unexpected prolongation with the progressive creation of a linguistic and ethnographic research and it diffusion in the Hautes-Pyrénées department.The elaboration of our microtoponym dictionary brought to a nomenclature of 1198 names distributed on adomain of 27,7 km2 which correspond to an average of 43 names/km2 (17 names/km2 are in use in 2009). Eachtime we present that the name of places is possible in given context. The redaction of our dictionary has givenplace to multiple observations under a linguistic order, about the facts of language or about the graph, history,ethnography and sociolinguistic. A data base allows us to understand the nature and function of themicrotoponyms in diachrony and synchrony: motivation, creation and elimination, density, etc. In our thesissome indispensable indexes are confectioned and given in order to allow several types of access to information

Full textIacopone da Todi’s “laudario” is a fundamental text of Medieval Italian literature. Despite its importance, this text hasn’t been published on the basis of objective and systematic criteria so far. The critical edition by F. Ageno (1953) improved Bonaccorsi’s incunable of 1490 (which had been the reference text until then) by means of the so-called “Umbrian laudari” (mss. London, British Library, Additional 16567 = L; Chantilly, Musée Condé, XIV.G.2 = Ch). However, that edition is still too much in Bonaccorsi’s debt as for various "loci" and the Perugian linguistic surface. The lack of explanation of the editorial criteria and the absence of critical apparatus are other evident limits of that edition. G. Contini criticised Ageno’s idea, according to which the entire tradition of the “laudario” stemmed from the so-called “Umbrian archetype”. Contini discovered, in the “Laudario urbinate” (ms. Roma, Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale, V.E. 849 = Urb), a witness independent of the “Umbrian archetype”; afterwards, R. Bettarini’s researches confirmed Contini’s discovery. F. Mancini’s edition (1974) tried to exploit the non-Umbrian sectors of the tradition; it got significant results, but it has many faults. Firstly, as for the “constitutio textus”, there is no precise methodological criterion. Secondly, Mancini doesn’t propose any analysis of Iacopone’s metric. Furthermore, while he believes it’s possible to reconstruct the “original” linguistic surface, his justifications are not convincing. The necessity of a critical edition based upon strong philological criteria and a careful “recensio” is thus clear. L. Leonardi has emphasised that need several times and he has planned and refined a methodological and operational approach. This thesis provides the critical edition of a portion of the “laudario” (eight texts) according to those criteria. It is based on a selection of witnesses, which were transcribed by a team coordinated by Leonardi. That selection represents the four families of Iacopone’s “laudario”, that is the Umbrian, the Tuscan-umbrian, the Venetian and the Tuscan family. In the critical edition, the Umbrian group is taken as reference point, as it preserves a consistent and homogeneous text. Moreover, the text of the Umbrian family is preserved in ancient manuscrits and it is presumably close to the “original” as for the linguistic surface. Alongside that criterion, special attention has been paied to non-Umbrian readings. The thesis is divided into two main sections, in addition to a foreword and the bibliography. Within the first section, chapter I describes the state-of-the-art and defines the methodological approach. Chapter II, first of all, clarifies the goals of the edition; secondly, it offers some notes upon the corpus of edited texts, the manuscripts chart, and a paragraph devoted to the surface manuscript (L). Chapter III is dedicated to the editorial criteria and the critical apparatus. The first paragraph deepens the editorial criteria. The second one firstly contains a retrospective on critical apparatus in previous editions of Iacopone; secondly, it justifies the tripartite structure of the apparatus in the current edition. Chapter IV takes stock of the new discoveries of this edition. The first part underlines the data which allow us to confirm the four families of Iacopone’s “laudario”. The second part points out the textual improvements made by this edition. Chapter V offers some remarks upon Iacopone’s metric by relying on data provided by the edited texts. The second section of the thesis presents the critical edition of the texts with introduction, critical notes and philological commentaries

Full textThe thesis consists of a new critical edition of the eight songs of the Catalan troubadour Pons de la Guardia. First, the edition opens with a brief status quaestionis that summarizes the previous bibliography on the troubadour. Secondly, in an introductory study, I presented the characteristics of the poet’s manuscript tradition illustrating the eight manuscripts (CEJNRSVa) which collect his poems and commenting on material data. It emerged that the tradition of the troubadour is entirely situated in the so-called tradition y, defined by Avalle, and that it proves its relations with Catalan sources. I then dealt with attribution’s problems, distinguishing the texts with unambiguous authorship from those controversial. I dedicated a chapter to the biography of the poet and to the reconstruction of the historical and literary context in which he operated. An in-depth archive research enabled me to find a new document attesting the troubadour. The profile of the poet-knight that emerges from my reconstruction illuminates a dense network of different socio-cultural problems. As for Pons’s poetic culture, he places himself fully in the line of the trobar leu and, as a result of the punctual analysis of the songs in which numerous echoes of Bernart de Ventadorn appear, we can say that the latter was assumed by the Catalan Pons as a stylistic paradigm in order to address an Occitan public. As for the language, Pons, although he was a Catalan native speaker, proves to master the literary language properly. Only a few cases of rhyming Catalanisms are noted where the different results of tonic vocalism cause errors of versification that reveal the poet’s Catalan linguistic homeland. Full textPart of the geste du roi, the Chanson d'Otinel had not been the subject of an edition since the pioneer work of F. Guessard and H. Michelant in 1858. Starting with the tangible objects that manuscripts are, and proceeding to the study of the tradition and work itself, this study aims to provide a new examination of all the available data, in order to enable a restoration of a song that has know an important diffusion in Medieval Europe, but whose scattered remains only are available to us. This study is given a firmly methodological orientation, and searches to apply to the edition the epistemological progresses brought by recent contributions in the field of textual criticism and ecdotics, as well as by what is now called “Digital Humanities”. It aims at overcoming the debate between “New” and Traditional Philology, based on the common errors method or of Bedierist inspiration, to place itself in the perspective of a “Fourth Way” and of an edition “oriented towards the tradition”. Digital scholarly editing and Digital Philology techniques are used in order to provide a full edition of the manuscript corpus, with “layered” transcriptions that give access to different representations and to the graphic system of all witnesses. The edition aims also at the study and description of the links between these witnesses, by suggesting a method of representation of textual variance and by rooting genealogical analysis in a global consideration of the tradition, including medieval translations (in Welsh, Norse, English) and derived versions. The modelling and description of manuscripts and their texts – formalised by an XML/TEI model conceived for this edition but seeking to be of more general interest – is clearly oriented towards data mining, and computational as well as traditional analysis (Palaeography, Scriptometry, Stemmatology). Methods from the fields of mathematical modelling, statistics, algorithmic, and artificial intelligence are put to use, as well as processes seeking to allow interoperability, scalability, and systematisation of editorial work (optical character recognition, linguistic tagging, collation), in a workflow centred on analysis. Full textThis thesis deals with the dialects spoken down to our own day by the descendants of the two historic Jewish populations established in Southern France. The more ancient of these two populations was located in Southeastern France and comprised Jews of the former Papal State of Avignon and the adjacent territories known as le Comtat Venaissin (Carpentras, Cavaillon, l’Isle-sur-Sorgue), and now as the Department of Vaucluse. The second, located in Southwestern France is of more recent vintage, having been founded in the sixteenth century by descendants of fugitives from the Iberian Inquisitions. Today neither of these two groups numbers more than a few dozen individuals and their unique varieties of French, hitherto almost unstudied, are teetering on the verge of extinction. We describe and study these dialects based upon all extant written documents and the results of an ongoing in loco investigation. The thesis opens with a linguistic history of the populations and a critical status questionis concerning the varieties of Gascon and Provençal, which have now died out and been replaced by the above-mentioned French varieties. Their description, then, takes on the form of a lexicographic and lexicological inventory of the two varieties’ differential vocabulary (c. 1500 units), in which each form or word is the subject of an etymological and historical study. The description is followed by a linguistic analysis of the material, taking into account inter alia the phonetics, the phonology and the constructional morphology of it. We examine then the potential impact of the study of this almost neglected linguistic material towards the general understanding of language contact and diastratic variation

Full textIn 1351 Jean le Long d’Ypres, abbot of Saint-Bertin in Saint-Omer, translated six works concerning the East and the knowledge of the Asiatic continent, namely of the Mongol Empire (Hayton, Odorico da Pordenone, Wilhelm von Boldensele, Lettres de Togon Temür, De statu). I studied and published the translation of Riccold de Monte di Croce’s Liber peregrinationis. The Florentine Dominican friar travelled from the Holy Land to Turkey, Armenia and Bagdad (he lived there for ten years) between 1288 and 1300. In the first part, I have studied the Latin text, its manuscript tradition and his reception; I added a study on the two Italian translation made in the 14th century. In the second part, I have studied the French translation. Six manuscript and a 16th century print transmit the six Jean le Long’s translation. The philological study and the manuscript tradition show two ways of circulation: one way concerning the Picard bourgeois, the other one concerning the French aristocrats (Jean the Fearless, Jean duke of Berry, Charles duke of Orleans; one of these manuscripts also contains Jean d’Arras’ Roman de Mélusine). The linguistic analysis, the traductological and the lexicological study (regionalisms, orientalism and rare words) allow me to affirm that Jean le Long has “mis en roman” the six Latin texts, few years before the redaction of Jean de Mandeville’s Livre des merveilles (1356). Finally, I prepared the critical edition of the Latin source and of its French translation, followed by a critical apparatus and a glossary

Full textGautier de Coinci’s Miracles de Nostre Dame are one of the masterpieces of the genre of the miracles of the Virgin in medieval literature. Written between 1215 and 1230 by Gautier de Coinci, a monk from Saint-Médard in Soissons, the Miracles form a symmetrically-organised two-book collection which also includes songs, prayers and two treatises in verse. This thesis opens with an introduction primarily focused at creating a fresh biographical portrait of the author and exploring the connections between the Miracles and the Cantigas of Alfonso X. Nearly a century after A. Ducrot-Granderye’s 1932 book centred on the manuscripts of the Miracles, this dissertation provides a catalogue of the 40 complete manuscripts of the Miracles, including an analytical description of their textual content and a re-assessment of their dating, location, and early owners. The manuscript catalogue is supplemented by tables (Appendix I) containing information (headings, Latin glosses, illustrations) for each text in the collection. This section devoted to the Miracles manuscripts serves as a basis for chapter 3, which revolves around the tradition of the collection. The main contributions of this chapter concern the multiple redactions of the Miracles (with the identification of a new redactional phase attested by manuscripts D and I). The second part of the thesis presents the critical edition of the miracles of Laon (II Mir 14-17 and II Mir 26). It is introduced by a chapter aimed at study all the Latin and Romance versions of the miracles of Laon and is accompanied by a discussion of the relationships between the manuscripts and philological notes. Finally, Appendix II presents the edition of two previously unpublished texts discovered during the preparation of the manuscript catalogue

Full textThe thesis analyses Sidonius Apollinaris' Letters in order to shed light on his perception of the so-called 'Barbarians' during the period of transition from Roman imperial institutions to the Romano-barbarian Kingdoms. In the V century AD, due to imperial central administration's indifference to barbaric incursions and devastations, exponents of ancient senatorial nobilitas stood up for their communities by holding the episcopal seat; by so doing, senatorial bishops kept the authority which traditional political offices could not ensure anymore and defended the needs of their communities. Sidonius Apollinaris is the major symbol of this phenomenon. His letters, addressed to the main personalities of his time, depict a portrait of the social developments occurred in that period and of the approach of Gallo-Roman aristocracy towards the Barbarians; the armed resistance and the study of Roman literary and cultural heritage appear to Gallo-Roman aristocracy the only way to save the principle of identity, which lays under the label of Romanitas. The work determines which literary schemes Sidonius uses to interpretate his political and social environment; his letter collection is examined as a mirror of his time thanks to its literary dimension, not despite it, and the literary filter itself is seen as a primary source. This critical methodological approach has been adopted to answer to all research questions as far as 'Identity' and 'Otherness' are concerned, in order to give a definition of 'Barbarian' and 'Roman Citizen'

As well as making available the text of an important witness, this thesis highlights new links between certain codices of the manuscript tradition, provides additional information on the witnesses used for the collation and sheds light on the history of the manuscript fr. 756 (illuminators, owners, clients, methods and time of production, etc.) and contributes to linguistic work on franco-ltalian and "Naples French". Ali this has been made possible by an interdisciplinary approach combining palaeography, codicology, history, philology, literature and linguistics. ln this way, the thesis opens up new research perspectives about the manuscript tradition of Tristan in prose, which remains an open and promising field of investigation that shows a lively reception of Arthurian literature in ltaly

Full textThe goal of our research is a new edition of the poems of Gautier d'Epinal to replace the old edition Ugo Lindelöf and Axel Wallensköld, published in 1901. Following a fresh and direct study of the complete manuscript tradition, we chose U as the reference text. Among the most ancient songbooks in langue d'oïl, the structure of the U manuscript is complex, consisting of no less than three principle sections, of which the first is very old, dating no later than the 1240s. The introduction provides a description and analysis of the corpus of Gautier d'Epinal contained in the three sections, as well as situating it with the other songbooks of the tradition. Each song is preceded by a description of the metrical and musical schemas, as well as an introductory analysis of the textual tradition of each piece. The lyrics are provided with a negative critical apparatus, distributed on two levels. The upper level deals with the faults and main variations, while the lower level is dedicated to the graphical variations. Papievis Paris - a city of many projections, the city-mirror-maze of the city. According to mythology, phenomenological, topography of the area concept is viewed in the City area. In view of the mythological space description of the novel, a division of the land space of heaven and hell realms. Each sphere corresponds to a particular part of town. The Earth is wandering in the city area, the loft area of the sky, residence, and hell represents subway. Space novel broad limitless, infinite. According to an internal infinity Bachelard description of the character's soul loudly map, discusses the internal space, thoughts, wandering. Current work is the fact that the novel is viewed not only as metaphorical, poetic text, but also as a specific geographic area. The thinking about the narration is basically changed. That is why the most important thing is not what is told but how it is told. This problem has been little investigated, to be more precise, it has not been investigated at all. That is why we decided to choose the following topic of the work: “The Narrator‘s Functions in the Novel “Murmanti siena” by Sigitas Parulskis”. The subject of the work is the narrator’s functions, their change in the novel. The narrator is revealed as an addresser, a preserver of values. He encourages and evaluates the action as well as he gets the appropriate ability, competence to perform one or another action. The narrator performs not only the narrator’s function which is compulsory but at the same time he performs other functions. The first and the most important function is called narrative, the other four functions are called ideological, communicative, operating and the function of witness. Full textMaster’s thesis analyses what victims of the Soviet reality are ironized in the Lithuanian and Czech novels written within 1987-1989. Research material and sources - Milan Kundera’s novel Nepakeliama būties lengvybė (The Unbearable Lightness of Being, 1987) and Ričardas Gavelis’ novel Vilniaus pokeris (Vilnius Poker, 1989), both of which depict the Soviet reality. The choice of novels was determined by plot difference and common political situation. The theoretical part of the paper presents the theory of the possibility of ironization and irony functions. The research part of the paper analyses ironized victims of the Soviet reality in Kundera’s novel Nepakeliama būties lengvybė and Gavelis’ novel Vilniaus pokeris. The paper reveals that different victims of the Soviet reality are ironized in the novels. The Soviet reality in Kundera’s novel is ironized through the choice of depicting life and existence, life and objective reality as irony victims. Each character tries to answer the following questions: whether what is happening in the Soviet reality is correct? Whether betrayal, prison, lie and cheapness are the things which should really prevail in the world? In this Master’s paper, we analyze similarities and differences between autobiographical novel and essay. The goal of this Master’s paper is to overlook theories of autobiography and essay genres, to name the differences and similarities of Miłosz‘s novel The Issa Valley and native essay texts, such like Native Realm (Gimtoji Europa), In search of a Homeland (Tėvynės ieškojimas) and Roadside dog (Pakelės šunytis). The base of an essay is very important. There is no rules to tell, what is a pure essayistic text (sometimes called perfect essay), and what is not. Essayistic and essayistic thinking are not identical concepts. The essayistic thinking is identifiable by value judgment, when the process of thinking is most important. By a philological study of the various Greek recensions (α, β (L, λ), ε, γ) as well as numerous Arabic sources it will be shown how the Alexander Romance, as a special example of the Graeco-Arabic translation movement, was rendered into Arabic. Apart from the written tradition, either in the form of a translation from the Greek or a paraphrase, the oral tradition based on Surah 18 of the Quran plays a central role. The influence of not just one but several recensions (α, β, ε, γ) of the Greek Alexander Romance can be traced in various Arabic sources. Especially the Byzantine β-recension must have played an important part in the East. The aim of the dissertation is to give a detailed overview of those chapters of the Alexander Romance which have been received in the Orient in order to illustrate how ancient Greek literature made its way into the Islamic world

Full textThe aim of this Master work is to provide the analysis and interpretation of Quentin Compson’s self-consciousness in William Faulkner’s famous novel “The Sound and the Fury.” The chosen object, that is, the mentioned novel and character has received a lot of attention from literary scholars and has been approached numerous times from many different angles and various methodological perspectives. Psychoanalytic theories have often been employed to portray the complexity of the human mind and sophisticated workings of its unconscious dimension. Such an approach has produced many valuable and interesting interpretations of Quentin’s psyche and has illuminated the complex relation between the inner and the outer world of the character. The most notable works are John T. Irwin’s “Doubling and Incest/ Repetition and Revenge” and Doreen Fowler’s “The Return of the Repressed” that respectively employ the Freudian and the Lacanian theories in the analysis of many Faulkner’s famous novels. The common feature that the analyses of these scholars share is that in all of them libido and jouissance is elaborated in the context of Oedipal complex. That is to say that John T. Irwin and Doreen Fowler treat libido and jouissance in the strict Freudian way and understand it as primarily and inevitably incestuous. Full textIn the book “Lietuvių literatūra svetur 1945-1967” K. Keblys says, that the novel “Miškais ateina ruduo” (1957) by M. Katiliškis together with the works of such Lithuanian writers as “Mėnesiena” (1957) by A. Baronas and “Balta drobulė” (1958) by Škėma stood out from other works written in 1956-1959. The novels of the first two authors were breath fresh impetus in Lithuanian literature. The biggest contribution was of the novel “Balta drobulė” by A. Škėma and the period of 1956-1959 is associated with the novel “Balta drobulė” by A. Škėma. But M. Katiliškis with this novel stands out from other writers in Lithuanian literature because of its bold spread of eroticism. The topic of the thesis is the spread of eroticism in the novel “Miškais ateina ruduo” by M. Katiliškis. Jung’s theory of archetypes. The sources of research – 8 literary dreams of Herbjørg Wassmo‘s novel „Septintasis susitikimas“ and Leonardas Gutauskas‘ first part of „Vilko dantų karoliai“. The literary dream itself in the creation of its admirers or when it becomes a basis of the composition structure of creation, constantly attracts the attention of people in literature. So the choice of such an object also determines its topicality in the contemporary scientific world. The works of these authors are chosen due to handiness of dreams for the research analysis of this work. In this work it was tryed, according to technics, offered by Prince and Jung, to analyse the literary dreams, by relating it, applying cinematic concepts, conceptions, theories, relating dreams with myths and fairy-tales. Jungin teorioihin arkkityypeistä sekä kollektiivisesta tiedostamattomasta. C. G. Jung on itsekin tulkinnut kirjallisia teoksia, esimerkiksi satuja, omien teorioidensa pohjalta. Työssäni lähdenkin liikkeelle siitä oletuksesta, että kirjallisia teoksia voidaan tulkita Jungin teorioiden pohjalta psyykkisinä prosesseina. Romaanissa Der Vorleser päähenkilöt, Michael Berg ja Hanna Schmitz, aloittavat suhteen keskenään. Yli 30-vuotias Hanna dominoi suhteessa teini-ikäistä Michaelia täysin; Michael joutuu kerta toisensa jälkeen nöyrtymään ja pyytelemään anteeksi turhaan. Hanna hallitsee Michaelia osittain myös seksuaalisuudellaan. Michael tapailee Hannaa salaa. Tapaamisten aikana Hanna velvoittaa pojan lukemaan hänelle ääneen. Full textTutkielmassa tarkastellaan kolmen saksankielisen romaanin avioliittokuvausta pari- ja perheterapian näkökulmasta. Tarkastelun kohteena on kolme samoihin aikoihin (2009–2013) julkaistua romaania (Peter Stamm: Sieben Jahre, Martin Walser: Das dreizehte Kapitel ja Karin Nohr: Vier Paare und ein Ring), joissa kuvataan vähintään yhtä tai useampaa avioliittoa sekä niihin vaikuttavia muita ihmissuhteita. Menetelmänä on käytetty hermeneuttista ja narratiivista tekstianalyysiä. Vielä 1900-luvun alkuun asti avioliitto oli sukujen välinen sopimus. Liiton tarkoituksena oli mm. irtautuminen lapsuuden kodista, suvun jatkaminen ja puolisoiden taloudellinen turva. Palkkatyö, koulutus ja ehkäisymenetelmät muiden muassa ovat vapauttaneet naiset päättämään itsenäisemmin elämästään ja parisuhteistaan. Avioliitto on edelleen kuitenkin tärkeä osa pariskuntien elämää, sillä esimerkiksi Saksassa noin neljä viidestä 1965 syntyneistä avioituu elämässään ainakin kerran ja vain noin 5 % ihmisistä ei koskaan solmi kiinteää liittoa elämässään. Avioliiton solmimisen motiiviksi ovat nousseet tunteet: rakkaus tai paremminkin rakastuminen. Platonin myytin mukaan ihminen on ollut pallonmuotoinen, mutta halkaistiin rangaistukseksi kahtia. Niinpä jokainen ihminen joutuu myytin mukaan etsimään omaa kadonnutta puolikastaan, sitä oikeaa, löytääkseen rakkauden täyttymyksen elämässään. C.G. Jungin mukaan tämä on ikivanha kollektiivinen ilmiö, josta hän käyttää nimitystä numinoosi kokemus. Numinositeetti pysyy tiedostamattomana niin kauan, kunnes yksilö kokee kaipuun henkilökohtaisesti. Tässä tutkimuksessa on selvitetty, minkälaista rakkautta romaanien henkilöt kokevat. Rakkauden kuvaukseksi valikoituivat sosiologien Robert Sternberg (Triangular Theorie of Love) ja John Lee (The Colours of Love) luomat teoreettiset mallit rakkauden luonteesta. Fiktiivisten romaanihenkilöiden tunteita tarkastellaan näiden mallien kautta pari- ja perheterapian näkökulmasta. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena on myös selvittää, millaisia ongelmia romaanihenkilöillä on liitoissaan ja miten he niistä selviävät. Psykologi John Gottman on tutkinut avioliiton päättymistä ennustavia tekijöitä, joihin kuuluvat esimerkiksi toista halventava puhe, ns. mykkäkoulu ja puolustautuminen. Romaaneissa kuvattuja avioliittoja näyttävät uhkaavan samat ilmiöt kuin todellisia avioliittojakin: kommunikaatiovaikeudet ja toisen erilaisuus alkavat ajan myötä rasittaa avioliittoa, syrjähypyt aiheuttavat ongelmia, lapsettomuus kuormittaa, niin myös yksinäisyyden tunne avioliitossa. Myös romaanihenkilöiden avioeroprosentti vastaa reaalimaailman tilannetta. Tämän tutkimuksen mukaan liitot, joissa keskustellaan, jatkuvat todennäköisimmin. Myös sellaiset liitot kestävät paremmin, joissa puolisot oppivat arvostamaan ja kunnioittamaan toistensa erilaisuutta ja antavat tilaa toisen itsenäisyydelle, samoin kuin liitot, joissa on fyysistä läheisyyttä

Full textP. Dirgėla’s „Kingdom” reflects the conversions of a historical novel. P. Dirgėla’s literary images and basis of thinking is related with cyclical processes in the history of the state (when the past returns to the present) as well as the interdependence of processes or phenomenon’s. „The Kingdom”can be understood as the interactive structure of myth and history and the set up of the Kingdom’s space as mitohistorical reality. The symbolic structure of reality presented in the „Kingdom” largely coherent with the mythical, historical, social or other structures of reality. There was selected only one of the most significant works of the symbolic epicenter of the procedure: a mythical marine and the rising image of Lithuania as mythical marine state. The aim of this paper is to identify the reality of Lithuania as the mythical marine state and discuss its relationship with other symbolic structures in P. Dirgėla’s novel „The Kingdom”. The writing of the work is based on modern theories of myth, hermeneutical and psychoanalytical interpretation of myth reality, historical and cultural interpretation of literature as well as on the concept of history and literature body structure which is found in J. Lacan and other author’s works.
