Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to explore the impact of how ubiquitous computing would affect an elementary teacher's ability to more fully operationalize her existing constructivist teaching philosophy.Research on computing technologies in K-12 schools has documented that there are numerous important barriers to technology integration in the classroom, one of which is access to computer technologies. In addition, the research documents that new technologies can act as a catalyst toward teacher change of instructional practices over time when using such technologies for teaching and learning. T

Abstract:
We have developed a new cluster parallel graphics architecture that improves upon prior cluster parallel graphics systems for high performance supergraphics – the Vortex deferred sort-last parallel graphics architecture based on global Zspace paradigm. The new architecture bypasses limitations of screen-space based parallelization paradigms, solves known Z-space parallelization inefficiencies and problems. Vortex addresses the lack of global Z buffer awareness between GPUs and prevents artifacts in globally order-dependent blending on multiple GPUs. The new paradigm allows for full 1-1 process

Abstract:
The term patina refers to a particular quality of decay in material objects, where the decay is both a physical and symbolic property of the object. As a physical property patina is an expression of the passage of time, a visual marker of the object's timeboundedness reflected in signs of ageing and/or use. This thesis considers the implications of a digital patina, including its relevance for an analysis of the relationship between things and time or timeboundedness.

Abstract:
The 21st century is an age of conducting business electronically. The benefits of dealing electronically with customers, suppliers, government and others is a fact that will continue the push towards further use of digital technology. This research work aims to address the following research question. How can a small to medium size enterprise (SME)etransform to be competitive in a globalised, rapidly changing, digital world? There are two components to this question; firstly the nature of competitiveness in a globalised environment, and secondly, the issue of how an orgaisation can etransform.

Artificial Neural Networks have been widely probed by worldwide researchers to cope with the problems such as function approximation and data simulation. This thesis deals with Feed-forward Neural Networks (FNN's) with a new neuron activation function called Neuron-adaptive Activation Function (NAF), and Feed-forward Higher Order Neural Networks (HONN's) with this new neuron activation function. We have designed a new neural network model, the Neuron-Adaptive Neural Network (NANN), and mathematically proved that one NANN can approximate any piecewise continuous function to any desired accuracy

The semantic web aims to make the meaning of data on the web explicit and machine processable. Harking back to Leibniz in its vision, it imagines a world of interlinked information that computers `understand' and `know' how to process based on its meaning. Spearheaded by the World Wide Web Consortium, ontology languages OWL and RDF form the core of the current technical offerings. RDF has successfully enabled the construction of virtually unlimited webs of data, whilst OWL gives the ability to express complex relationships between RDF data triples. However, the formal semantics of these lan

Organisations have processes to manage their business activities, often referred to as business processes. In today’s competitive global economy, automation of processes with appropriate technology is advantageous. However, the paradox of processes automation is the continuous evolution and change that occurs in business processes. As the business processes evolve and change, the underpinning automated systems need to reflect those changes. This dissertation details a framework for providing knowledge-based temporal reasoning and data analysis within a complex and high frequency data environment. The process of Temporal Abstraction (TA) involves a transformation from raw quantitative time-stamped data to a qualitative interval-based representation which can be matched directly to the domain expert’s knowledge. Clinical data analysis involves a high degree of both contextual and temporal information.
