Abstract:
According to Ancient Indian philospers all matter of this universe is made up of five basic constituents commonly called panch tatavas. Indian philospher Maharishi Kanad around 500 BC postulated that matter is divisible. The smallest indivisible matter were named as parmanu. Greek philosphers named this indivisible particles atoms. In 1808 John Dalton suggest that the atom was indivisible and industructible. After the discovery of electron and proton inside the atom, led to the failure of Daltons theory. In the thirty years between the discovery of neutron in 1932 to the middle of 1962, more than thirty new particles were found, which were thought to be the builders of matter in the universe. Therefore it was established beyond doubt that all the particles discovered are not fundamental but have complex nature. In 1964 Gell-Mann and Zweing proposed that most of these particles called Quarks. Nearly 200 elementary particles were discovered so far. It appears that our search for the ultimate builder is not in a concluding stage but we are reaching towards the goal in stages. In this way we can say that the mysterious world of elementary particles and Quark is still mysterious. The same is written in Vedas and Purana that the search of ultimate particle will go on and on.

Abstract:
Invisibility might be described as the state of inability to be seen of an object. Many philosphers have been focused on the concept of invisibility. According to Maurice Merleau-Ponty, who has taken up the concept of invisibility, the gaze is bound to movement and we see the things that we direct our gaze to. Our body is both the one that is seen and the one that sees. The site-specific performance project “Invisible” which combines different points of view, had taken three hours on per three consequtive days, has been finalized as an installation on the site following a series of transformations and change. This research focuses on the perception of the concept of invisibility while associating the references of this particular performance. Within this context, the performance rendered it possible to rethink and contemplate the act of seeing. The stories of the unseen, the invisible are displayed in a shop window (vitrine) where the things that are chosen to be shown, and thus, the concepts of visible and invisible are discussed.

Abstract:
The Philosophy of Hans-Georg Gadamer, edited by Lewis Edwin Hahn, the twenty-fourth volume in the “Library of Living Philosophers”—a series founded in 1938 by Paul Arthur Schlipp, the aim of which has been to represent some of the world's greatest living philosphers. In keeping with this tradition, the 600-page Gadamer volume contains an invaluable and lengthy autobiographical sketch by Gadamer himself, long with wide-ranging critical and interpretive essays by twenty-nine scholars. The essays address the foundations of philosophical hermeneutics, the significance of beauty, art, and aesthetics to hermeneutic theory, theSocratic-Platonic sources of Gadamer's outlook, the relationship between Gadamer's hermeneutics and the characteristic perspectives of the Renaissance and the Enlightenment, questions concerning Gadamer'sconnection to political affairs in twentieth-century Germany, and the nuances of Martin Heidegger's profound influence on Gadamer's thought. The essays divide evenly into those which take issue with Gadamer and those which interpretively and sympathetically elaborate on Gadamerian themes. Of the twenty-nine authors, twenty-six were teaching at North American colleges and universities at the time of writing.

Abstract:
AbstractThe aim of this research was to describe the evidence examining the approaches taken by mental health providers (MHPs) and chaplains to address symptoms related to moral injury (MI) or exposure to potentially morally injurious events (PMIEs). This research also considers the implications for a holistic approach to address symptoms related to MI that combines mental health and chaplaincy work. A scoping review of literature was conducted using Medline, PsycINFO, Embase, Central Register of Controlled Trials, Proquest, Philosphers Index, CINAHL, SocINDEX, Academic Search Complete, Web of Science and Scopus databases using search terms related to MI and chaplaincy approaches or psychological approaches to MI. The search identified 35 eligible studies: 26 quantitative studies and nine qualitative studies. Most quantitative studies (n = 33) were conducted in military samples. The studies examined interventions delivered by chaplains (n = 5), MHPs (n = 23) and combined approaches (n = 7). Most studies used symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and/or depression as primary outcomes. Various approaches to addressing MI have been reported in the literature, including MHP, chaplaincy and combined approaches, however, there is currently limited evidence to support the effectiveness of any approach. There is a need for high quality empirical studies assessing the effectiveness of interventions designed to address MI-related symptoms. Outcome measures should include the breadth of psychosocial and spiritual impacts of MI if we are to establish the benefits of MHP and chaplaincy approaches and the potential incremental value of combining both approaches into a holistic model of care.

Abstract:
Philosophers of mind typically conduct their discussions in terms of mental events, mental processes, mental properties, mental states—but rarely in terms of minds themselves. Sometimes this neglect is explicity acknowledged. Donald Davidson, for example, writes that ‘there are no such things as minds, but people have mental properties, which is to say that certain psychological predicates are true of them. These properties are constantly changing, and such changes are mental events’. Hilary Putnam agrees, though for somewhat different reasons:The view I have long defended is that the mind is not a thing, talk of our minds is talk of World-involving capabilities that we have and activities that we engage in. As Dewey succinctly put it, ‘Mind is primarily a verb. It denotes all the ways in which we deal consciously and expressly with the situation in which we find ourseleves. Unfortunately, an influential manner of thinking has changed modes of action into an underlying substance that performs the activities in question. It has treated mind as an independent entity which attends, purposes, cares and remembers’. But the traditional view, by treating mental states as states of the ‘underlying substance’, makes them properties of something ‘inside’, and, if one is a materialist philosopher, that means properties of our brains. So the next problem naturally seems to be: ‘Which neurological properties of our brains do these mental properties “reduce” to?’ For how could our brains have properties that aren't neurological? And this is how materialist philosphers saw the problem until the advent of such new alternatives in the philosophy of mind and philosophy of language as Functionalism and Semantic Externalism.

Abstract:
During its long history, the rapids section of the large river the Dnipro not only posed a problem for navigation, but also attracted people with its picturesque rocky landscapes unusual for the Steppe Prydniprovie. Nobody who had saw their beauty was left indifferent. History has preserved lots of recorded impressions from various visits to the Rapids from the Ancient Greek philosphers to exceptional works of Dmitro Yavornytsky. However, the geological studies were fragmented and there is no integrated source focussing on the geological structure of the Dnipro Rapids. We analyzed the results of the explorations of Valerian Domger, a famous researcher of the geology of Middle Prydniprovie. His routes investigated almost every corner of the then Katerynoslav governorate. After the creation of the Prydriprovie Regional Landscape Park (PRLP) in 2008 within the territory of part of the Dnipro Rapids, a question of restoration of its geological history should have emerged, but that has not happened. The year 2017 became the year of rebirth of the PRLP andrecognition of geological component as the key feature of its restoration. The Pre-Cambrian stage of the geological history of the Naddniprovia Rapids is described in the author`s publication in early 2018, which focused on the most ancient history of the Rapids. The Phanerozoic Eon is analyzed in this work and focuses on the lithogical-facial peculiarities of the sedimentary rocks from Paleogene to Quaternary rocks on the basis of stratigraphic and paleontological data, according to which they have beendivided in detail. We determined the patterns in the structure of Quaternary deposits, the correlation of subaerial and subaquaticformations of different genetic types was made according to the use of the climatic-stratigraphic or paleoclimatic principle of division. Thepossibilities of creating a geological park on the basis of the“Dnipro Rapids” Regional Landscape Park ( "Dniprovi Porohy' RLP) areexplored and substantiated.

Abstract:
In a field experiment, the dying off of sanitary-indicative bacteria in grasses when irrigating them with wastewater of a pig breeding complex was assessed. Watering was carried out with norms of 270, 180 and 90 m3/ha. Bacterial contamination of herbs was directly dependent on the rate of irrigation with wastewater. E. coli 10 days after watering with a wastewater norm of 270 m3/ha was preserved in plants, while at a rate of 180 and 90 m3/ha it was absent. After 21 days, this microorganism was absent in plants with all types of irrigation wastewater. For indicators of E. coli, the total microbial count (TBC), enterococci is adequate model of the exponential dying of bacteria in plants, depending on the time after watering wastewater. Microorganisms were distributed according to the rate of dying down as follows (in decreasing direction): E. coli (k = 0.48 day–1), TBC (k = 0.089–0.17 day–1), enterococci (k = 0.086–0.10 day–1). The time of a 10-fold reduction in the number of bacteria was smaller for E. coli – 4.76 days, for enterococci it varied from 22.91 to 26.69, for TBC – from 13.37 to 25.77 days. The obtained equations of multiple regression allowed to identify the most significant factors influencing the number of bacteria, as well as to predict it within the framework of the models created.

Abstract:
In this article, nonhuman poetry is explored. Departing from an autoethnographic project based on audio recordings made while running on revetments, and which discussed how to give voice to nonhuman actors the possibilities of nonhuman poetry, this text aims at taking it one step further by extracting poetry from the material. Ethnographically, this is discussed in terms of affect, and an 'ethnography to be'. Theoretically, the study has a posthumanist approach, with a specific focus on the econarratology of philosopher Michel Serres. The method and theory are are discussed in tandem in relation to what philospher Peter Sloterdijk has coined 'amphibian anthropology'. By stacking the bracketed words in my transcriptions, four poems emerge in which background sounds, contextual descriptions, corrections and bodily sounds form the content. Each poem is accompanied by a map made from smartphone screenshots. The prose is found to be evocative of the surroundings of the recording, and also resonating with the ideas of human language as derivative of what Serres calls the Great narrative, the story of universe and nature themselves. The proximity to water and rocks discernible in the experiment is seen as a result stemming from practicing the hope-oriented 'ethnography to be'.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Palabras clave: “Feminized man”, amante apasionado, matrimonio, poder, fantasía.AbstractOne way in which eighteenth-century women writers subvert the discourse of the sentimental novel is by creating an alternative model of love and a hero who proves to be an exception to the patriarchal rule. This ideal lover shows the tenderness, sensibility, kindness and self-control that we usually associate with women and is willing to curtail his power and rights in order to sanction the heroine’s independence and autonomy. Thus the stereotype of the aggressive and dominant male which prevailed in the novels and conduct books of the age is avoided: he represents a threat to women, since he invades their space, encroaching on their freedom of action and thought. Behind the creation of this new hero is, of course, the desire to bring about a change in the power relations between the sexes. Both the passionate lover and the new “feminized man” are present in Memoirs of Modern Philosphers, thus showing that the novel cannot be merely classifi ed as anti-jacobin or conservative, but clearly contains subversive elements.Key words: “Feminized man”, passionate lover, marriage, power, fantasy.

Abstract:
Editors' Preface When Ulf Wilhelmsson first contacted us about including his "Dialogue on Film and Philosophy" in the M/C 'chat' issue, we were initially taken aback. True, the notion of chat surely must include that of 'dialogue', but Wilhelmsson's idea, as he put it to us, was that of a Socratic dialogue about film. The dialogue "Film och Filosofi" already existed in Swedish, but he had done an initial rough translation of the dialogue on his Website. Since Wilhelmsson put this to us in the very early days of the submission period, we decided to have a look. Wilhelmsson had omitted to mention the fact that his dialogue was amusing as well as informative. Playing Socrates was ... Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino was not just discussing film, but he was moderating a hefty grab-bag of influential philosphers, film-makers, film-scholars and the odd Beatle (John Lennon). Furthermore, creeping in to many of the utterances in the discussion was Wilhelmsson's take on Tarantino's vernacular -- keep an eye out for "Bada boom bada boom, get it?" and "Oh Sartre. Dude, I would also like to provide a similar example". The philosphers sometimes also get a chance to break out of their linguistic bonds, such as Herakleit, who tells us that "War is the primogenitor of the whole shebang". Occasionally, Wilhelmsson lets his conversants get rowdy (St Thomas of Aquinas and Aristotle yell "Tabula Rasa!" in unison), put on accents (Michel Chion with French accent: "Merci merci. Je vous en pris that you are recognising tse sound"), be "dead sure of themselves" (George Lakoff and Mark Johnson; Noam Chomsky thanks us for our attention) and wander in and out of the dialogue's virtual space (at the end, Immanuel Kant returns to us after his daily walk around town). Unfortunately, due to its length, the dialogue can not be supplied in regular M/C 'bits', and so we have made it available as a downloadable Rich Text Format file. Felicity Meakins & E. Abstract:
On 4 March 1660—61 ‘glass bubbles’ were first introduced to a meeting of the Royal Society. According to the minutes, ‘The King sent by Sir Paul Neile five little glass bubbles, two with liquor in them, and the other three solid, in order to have the judgement of the society concerning them’ (1). The Royal Society responded with remarkable celerity: its amanuensis produced some more drops two days later, which ‘succeeded in the same manner with those sent by the king’ (2). A very full report of the experiments performed was given to the Royal Society on 14 August 1661 by the President, Sir Robert Moray (3). As the Royal Society did not at this time have a normal publication series the report was recorded in the Register Book (4) and first published by Merret as an appendix to his translation of Neri’s Art of Glass (5). Henry Oldenburg lent Sir Robert’s account to the French traveller Monconys in 1663 who made his own translation into French of the prescription for making the drops. Monconys published this prescription in the second part of his Voyages (6). The ‘bubbles’— the solid ones, at least— were what were later to be called ‘Prince Rupert’s drops’. (Those said to contain ‘liquor’ could have been something different, but were probably the same containing vacuoles and no actual liquid.) These objects, glass beads with the form of a tear-drop tapering to a fine tail, made (though that was not generally known at the time) by dripping molten glass into cold water, exhibited a paradoxical combination of strength and fragility not without interest to the materials scientist of the present day, and which could not fail to excite the imagination of natural (and not so natural) philosphers of the 17th century. The head withstands hammering on an anvil, or, as a more modern test, squeezing in a vice, indenting its steel jaws, without fracture: yet breaking the tail with finger pressure caused the whole to explode into powder.

Charles Babbage, Passages from the Life of a Philosopher (ed. M. CampbellKelly). London. Pickering and Chatto, 1994. Pp. 392, £12.95. ISBN 185196 040 6 The text for this new edition of Passages from the Life of a Philospher was first prepared by Dr Campbell- Kelly for the monumental edition of the complete works of Charles Babbage which he edited and which appeared in 1988 under the imprint of Pickering Masters. Its publication as a separate volume is said to be much welcomed as making the work readily available to the growing circle of those interested in the history of computing and in science in the 19th century. Campbell-Kelly has written, specially for this edition, an excellent introduction running to some 12,000 words and containing a critical survey of Babbage’s career and achievements. He points out that Babbage would not be today celebrated as the ‘Pioneer of the Computer’ were it not for the enormous importance that computers have assumed in the second half of this century. However, he goes on to say that Babbage, even by the standards of his day, was a considerable polymath, and that there is much of interest in his life apart from computing machines. During the last decade or two, Babbage scholarship has begun to illuminate his full intellectual range. His most positive achievement was to put together a book entitled On the Economy of Machinery and Manufactures . This was quoted by various writers, including Karl Marx and J.S. Mill, and gives him a modest but secure place in the history of economics.

Abstract:
To determine the harmfulness of the causative agent of bacterial wilt Burkholderia caryophylli for floriculture in Ukraine, to analyze the possibility and ways of getting this pathogen into our country. In preparing the article, general scientific methods were used: generalization, comparison, system analysis. The material for the analytical study was the data of the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organizations (EOPR), as well as data from the phytosanitary services of the EU and Ukraine, scientific literature. B. caryophylli causes bacterial wilt or bacterial cracking of stems on carnations, eustoma and pottery. This is a fairly heat- and cold-resistant bacterium (capable of actively infecting plants in the temperature range 17-33˚C) and can infect and stay in both the philosphere and rhizosphere of the plant. Cells are straight or slightly curved rods with rounded ends, single or paired cells. Aerobic, does not form disputes. Cells are motile with one or more flagella, gram negative. Oxidase-positive, do not form indole, H2S. Restores nitrates. Ferment glucose, inositol, argenin, xylose, ribose, rhamnose, sudan, dilute gelatin, do not hydrolyze starch. The main methods of research and identification are: visual, cultural-morphological and biochemical methods, IF, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and BOX-PCR. To date, there are no effective pesticides to kill B. caryophylli, so the only possible way to stop the spread of bacterial wilt is to remove and destroy infected plants, as well as to comply with phytosanitary measures. Thus, the causative agent of bacterial wilt of the carnation B. caryophylli is a quarantine object of the A-1 list in Ukraine and A-2 in the European and Mediterranean Plant Quarantine and Protection Organization. When imported into our country has a high probability of acclimatization and spread in floriculture in Ukraine

Abstract:
This research is proposed to study and understand more deeply and comprehensively about the philosphy’s values of Sunan Gunung Jati’s leadership, chiefly occurred in his ‘petatah-petitih’. And also, his leadership’s attitude, thereby forming its possibility and its relevance for ethic and moral leadership building in Indonesia recently, for at least it’s able to form a new spirit to construct the future of nation, which has higher moral and dignity. The essence of this research is to understand the characteristic of Sunan Gunung Jati’s leadership, also as a leader of saints, ruler of nation and leader of politic. This research is library research, the points are Sunan Gunung Jati’s leadership values which were written in any ancients’s manuscript and researches that existed before. Related with specific problems to reach philosophical understanding, the researchers conducted various interviews with figures who have capabilities on understanding the figure of Sunan Gunung Jati. In this case, the study involved the officers of Keraton Kasepuhan, Kanoman and Kacirebonan. For reaching comprehensive understanding and clearly, the study used trough analysis philosophical methods with perennial apporoaches. The result of this research is to explain the leadership figure of Sunan Gunung Jati. He was a leader who transcended and immanent. In his hands, they combined between political and spiritual powers. The combination political and spiritual power made him not only capable to control things that were related with spiritual and religious ceremony, but also capable to control things that were related with social and cultural fields, like economy, education, defense and security and public policies as well. This unique capability made him a successful leader, this occured by the construction of two Islamic civilization such as Cirebon and Banten. Most importantly are Sunan Gunung Jati’s leadership system, mostly found stature of models as a wise leader, and also moral messages in form of ‘petatah-petitih’, which is related with moral values and essential philosophy. Thereby those values chiefly formed in four principal teachings, like the teachings of faith and piety, discipline, wisdom, and about ethic. These four teachings besides having universal ethic, also has similarity with Pancasila’s values. Therefore, it is expected to provide strong foundation for Indonesian moral and leadership ethic based on national cultures and local wisdom.
