Abstract Born effective charges Zi, β α *, dielectric tensors εα,βand the dynamic stability for AgMgF3 and KMgF3 compounds were treated based on the harmonic and quasi-harmonic theory implemented in phonopy code. The band gap for both compounds as well as the effective masses of electrons and holes are calculated at different pressures using the TB-mBJ (GGA) approximation within the framework of the density functional theory. Furthermore, absorption coefficient, refractive index, extinction coefficient, reflectivity, and optical conductivity, for both compounds were calculated. On the other ha

Abstract This paper examines the structural, mechanical, electronic, optical, and thermal characteristics of A3BF3 perovskite (A = Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba; B = N, Bi) materials through density-functional theory (DFT) computations. The calculations were performed using Quantum ESPRESSO, and the Phonopy and Thermo_pw packages were employed to analyze phonon and thermal properties, respectively. It is found that elastic constants show positive mechanical when these compounds are crystallized in the Pm-3m cubic system. Electronic structure analysis reveals that Mg3NF3 and Mg3BiF3 have high insulating behav

The understanding of the radial distribution of temperature in a fuel pellet, under normal operation and accident conditions, is important for a safe operation of a nuclear reactor. Therefore, in this study, we have solved the steady-state heat conduction equation, to analyze the temperature profiles of a 12 mm diameter cylindrical dispersed nuclear fuels of U3O8-Al, U3Si2-Al, and UN-Al operating at 597 °C. Moreover, we have also derived the thermal conductivity correlations as a function of temperature for U3Si2, uranium mononitride (UN), and Al. To evaluate the thermal conductivity correlati
