<p>This paper presents a new switched z-source multilevel inverter powered from a photovoltaic source. Addition of a power electronic switch in conventional z-source network provides excellent voltage boosting capability with moderate power rating which makes it suitable for low voltage photo voltaic applications. Proposed topology consists of single dc source, six power switches, two diodes, four capacitors and two inductors comparing to conventional five level schemes proposed topology contains less number of switches and passive elements. This scheme produces voltage waveform with les

Azobenzene derivatives are a unique class of photo-switch molecules with promising potential for nanoscale optical applications. We have studied the self-assembly and photo-induced mechanical switching of azobenzene derivatives on Au(111) at the single-molecule level by using scanning tunneling microscope (STM). 4,4′-Dibromo-azobenzene (Br-AB) molecules are assembled into two types of well-ordered structures on Au(111) surfaces in the trans-isomer configuration. In this article, a new conceptual design of light-sensitive switches made of a soft bilayer is introduced. The bilayer structure consists of a photothermal-sensitive hydrogel strip attached to another neutral incompressible elastomeric layer. The bilayer is assumed to be initially flat under a uniform light irradiation. Decreasing the light intensity causes the bilayer to bend due to the inhomogeneous swelling of hydrogel layer and results in the switch actuation. To enlighten the actuation mechanism and investigate the influence of various parameters on the switch’s photomechanical response,

However, the photocurrent reduces at high RH, yielding a typical negative photoconductivity (NPC). The dynamics of the free carriers generated by the laser pulses that induce the switching therefore determine the speed of response. Since the generation of carriers is instantaneous, the rise time of the switch is of the order of the laser pulse width. However, the recover
