Abstract:
In Vietnam, Cinnamomum cassia is widely utilized not only as a spice but also as a key ingredient in medicine, cosmetics, and the processing industry. The varying climatic conditions across different geographic regions where cinnamon is cultivated significantly influence its quality, often leading to the unintentional mixing of cinnamon from multiple sources. To analyze cinnamon samples, Attenuated Total Reflectance-Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) was employed to measure 139 samples collected from four distinct provinces in Vietnam – Yen Bai, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, and Quang Nam – each representing unique climatic conditions. To enhance data quality, the second derivative Savitzky-Golay smoothing method was applied, improving spectral resolution and reducing noise. Unsupervised chemometric techniques, including Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and Hierarchical Cluster Analysis (HCA), were used to assess classification potential. Additionally, supervised machine learning models, such as Support Vector Machine (SVM), Decision Tree (DT), Random Forest (RF), GausianNB, BernoulliNB, AdaBoost, and Gradient Boosting were combined with PCA results and trained using first derivative Savitzky-Golay smoothed spectra for classification. The results demonstrated that the PCA-SVM model achieved the highest classification accuracy (96.88%) with the second derivative spectra, whereas first derivative and raw data exhibited lower performance. This study underscores that ATR-FTIR spectroscopy, when combined with second-derivative preprocessing and PCA-SVM, provides a simple, rapid, non-destructive, and cost-effective approach for distinguishing cinnamon bark samples based on their geographical origin, offering valuable insights for quality assessment. Abstract:
In this paper, seismic activity characteristics in the East Sea area was analyzed by authors on the base of the unified earthquake catalog (1900-2017), including 131505 events with magnitude 3 ≤ Mw ≤ 8.4. The seismic intensity in the East Sea during the period 1900-2017 is characterized by the earthquake representative level Mw = 4.7. The strong earthquake activity in the East Sea area clearly shows the regularity in each stage. In the period from 1900 to 2017, the East Sea area has four periods of strong earthquake activity, each stage is nearly 30 years with particular characteristics. The distribution of the maximum earthquake quantities by years has a cyclicity in all four periods. In each stage there are 1-2 strong earthquakes with Mmax ≥ 8.0. The strong earthquakes with Mmax ≥ 7.5 have occurred by a repeatable rule of 3-5 years in all four stages. This allows the prediction of the maximum earthquake repeat cycle of Mmax ≥ 7.5 in the study area is 3-5 years. In other hand, the maximum magnitude values for the East Sea region has assessed by GEV method with several different predict periods (20, 40, 60, 80, 100 years), with predicted probability 80%. We concluded that it is possible that earthquake have Mmax = 8.7 will occur in next 100 years.ReferencesBautista C.B., Bautista M.L.P., Oike K., Wu F.T., Punongbayan R.S., 2001. Abstract:
This study investigates the factors influencing compulsory tax compliance behavior among digital content creators in Vietnam, a sector experiencing rapid growth amid evolving digital tax regulations. A quantitative approach was used to collect data from Google Forms sent via email and social media, receiving 282 participant responses. The SmartPLS 3.0 software was used to analyze the data collected through the survey process. The results of the study indicate that four factors influence compulsory tax compliance of content creators in Vietnam: Tax fairness, the power of tax authorities, tax awareness, and tax complexity. Policy recommendations are proposed to improve tax administration and support digital content creators to effectively meet their tax obligations in Vietnam’s dynamic digital economy.

Abstract:
Nickel (Ni) laterites are regolith materials derived from ultramafic rocks and play an important role in the world's Ni production. Ni-laterite deposits are the supergene enrichment of Ni formed from the intense chemical and mechanical weathering of ultramafic parental rocks. In Vietnam, the weathering profile containing Ni laterite was first discovered in the Ha Tri massive (Cao Bang). This profile develops on the Ha Tri serpentinized peridotite rocks classified to the Cao Bang mafic-ultramafic complex (North Vietnam) and exhibits thick weathered zone (10 - 15m). This work carried out a detailed study of the weathering profile at the center of Ha Tri massive. Samples from different horizons of the profile were collected and analyzed in detail by XRF, XRD and SEM-EDX methods to establish the relationship between the Ni-rich supergene products and the parental peridotites (lherzolite) rocks in Ha Tri massive. The results show that the saprolite horizon is most Ni-rich in the weathering profile in Ha Tri. In this horizon, Ni-silicate minerals of garnierite group such as pimelite, nepouite and other Mg-Ni silicates have been found. The appearance of minerals of garnierite group is due to the exchange of Mg by Ni during weathering of peridotite minerals, especially olivine, which leads to the enrichment of the supergene Ni. The occurrence of Ni silicates suggests the existence of the supergene Ni ore in the weathering profile of the Ha Tri massive.References Bosio N.J., Hurst J.V., Smith R.L., 1975. Abstract:
This paper presents some results of rainfall forecast in the monsoon onset period in South Vietnam, with the use of ensemble Kalman filter to assimilate observation data into the initial field of the model. The study of rainfall forecasts are experimented at the time of Southern monsoon outbreaks for 3 years (2005, 2008 and 2009), corresponding to 18 cases. In each case, there are five trials, including satellite wind data assimilation, upper-air sounding data assimilation, mixed data (satellite wind+upper-air sounding data) assimilation and two controlled trials (one single predictive test and one multi-physical ensemble prediction), which is equivalent to 85 forecasts for one trial. Based on the statistical evaluation of 36 samples (18 meteorological stations and 18 trials), the results show that Kalman filter assimilates satellite wind data to forecast well rainfall at 48 hours and 72 hours ranges. With 24 hour forecasting period, upper-air sounding data assimilation and mixed data assimilation experiments predicted better rainfall than non-assimilation tests. The results of the assessment based on the phase prediction indicators also show that the ensemble Kalman filter assimilating satellite wind data and mixed data sets improve the rain forecasting capability of the model at 48 hours and 72 hour ranges, while the upper-air sounding data assimilation test produces satisfactory results at the 72 hour forecast range, and the multi-physical ensemble test predicted good rainfall at 24 hour and 48 hour forecasts. The results of this research initially lead to a new research approach, Kalman Filter Application that assimilates the existing observation data into input data of the model that can improve the quality of rainfall forecast in Southern Vietnam and overall country in general.References Bui Minh Tuan, Nguyen Minh Truong, 2013.
