A holoptychiid fish is described from the Lower Devonian of Arctic Canada. The new form is distinct from other holoptychiids by the presence of a large supraorbital bone and a boomerang-shaped tabular. <i>Nasogaluakus</i> n. gen. is the oldest and most primitive holoptychiid based on a phylogenetic analysis of porolepiforms and their closest relatives. The first well preserved, articulated skeleton of a young male deer of <i>Megaloceros verticornis</i> (Dawkins, 1868) was excavated from early Middle Pleistocene sediments of the clay pit of Bilshausen (Unter-Eichsfeld, Lower Saxony). The holotype and only known specimen of the eurypterid (Chelicerata: Eurypterida) <i>Grossopterus overathi</i> (Gross, 1933) from the Early Devonian (Siegennian) of Overath, north-west Germany is redescribed. Hantaviren (Familie Bunyaviridae) sind Erreger, die von Nagetieren auf den Menschen übertragen werden und Hämorrhagische Fieber mit Renalem Syndrom (HFRS) auslösen. Die vorgelegte Arbeit beinhaltet derartige Ergebnisse zu zwei europäischen Hantaviren, dem Dobravavirus (DOBV) und dem Tulavirus (TULV). DOBV ist ein wichtiger HFRS-Erreger in Europa. DOBV Stämme kommen in mindestens zwei Nagerspecies, der Gelbhalsmaus (Apodemus flavicollis) und der Brandmaus (A. agrarius) vor.
