The adsorption properties of benzene, p-dichlorobenzene and nitrobenzene on polymer nanofibers were studied. Compared with polyacrylonitrile nanofiber, polystyrene (PS) nanofiber presented better adsorption performance. Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption models were used for the mathematical description of adsorption equilibria, and Freundlich isotherms fitted better. Kinetic studies showed that the adsorption of PS nanofiber followed pseudo first-order model. In this chapter it is shown that the differences between solids, liquids, and gases have to be explained at the level of the molecular structure. The continuum hypothesis makes it possible to characterise any fluid and ultimately analyse its response to pressure difference Δ‎p and shear stress τ‎ through macroscopic physical properties, dependent only upon absolute temperature T and pressure p, which can be defined at any point in a fluid. The most important of these physical properties are density ρ‎ and viscosity μ‎, while some problems are also influenced by compressibility, vapour pressure

Abstract:
<p>In this paper, a new physical parameter identification method in the time domain utilizing the Single- Input-Single-Output Auto Regressive eXogenous (SISO-ARX) model has been developed for an initial assessment of damage, and its fundamental characteristics are discussed. The theoretical validity of the proposed method is demonstrated through numerical examples for the linear SDOF/MDOF shear building model. Furthermore, we have confirmed that the presence/degree of plasticization is roughly detected story-by-story, and introducing a forgetting factor improves the detection sensitivity

Abstract:
Fluid is a substance that can flow and conform to its container. Any substance or material that experiences movement or moves from one place to another will produce energy and this energy is strongly influenced by the physical properties of the fluid which is the source of this energy. Because of the same fluid properties, Savonius can also be applied to water flows. The Savonius waterwheel is a simple water-wheel that works because of the different forces on each blade. The concave blade (concave) facing the direction of the water will catch the water and force the blade to rotate on its axis

Full text
Abstract:
Methods to quantify soil conditions of pore connectivity, tortuosity, and pore size as altered by compaction were done. Air-dry soil cores were scanned at the GeoSoilEnviroCARS sector at the Advanced Photon Source for x-ray computed microtomography of the Argonne facility. Data was collected on the APS bending magnet Sector 13. Soil sample cores 5- by 5-mm were studied. Skeletonization algorithms in the 3DMA-Rock software of Lindquist et al. were used to extract pore structure. We have numerically investigated the spatial distribution for 6 geometrical characteristics of the pore structure of

Full text
Abstract:
Recently, natural rubber has been used in several medical products. The purpose of this study was to develop a soft lining material from natural latex which had been improved its physical, mechanical and biological properties. Initially, natural latex was vulcanized by gamma irradiation. The vulcanized latex was then grafted with ethyl methacrylate using gamma irradiation also. The grafted vulcanized rubber, so-called graft copolymer, was evaluated for its physical and mechanical properties as well as the cellular biocompatibility. Coe Supersoft, the commercial soft lining material, was used a

Abstract:
The specific objectives of this research were the study of the physical and nutritional properties of the In Ovo Feeding (IOF) solution (i.e. theosmostic properties and the carbohydrate: protein ratio composition). Then, using the optimal solution for determining its effect on hatchability, early nutritional status and intestinal development of broilers and turkey during the last quarter of incubation through to 7 days post-hatch (i.e. pre-post hatch period) by using molecular, biochemical and histological tools. The objective for the last research phase was the determination of the effect of

Hypothesis and Objectives: We hypothesized that coal combustion products (CCPs), including those created during scrubbing of sulfur dioxide from flue gases, can be used alone or mixed with composted animal manures as effective growth media for plants. Our specific objectives were, therefore, to (1) measure the chemical, physical and hydraulic properties of source materials and prepared mixes, (2) determine the optimum design mix of CCPs and composted animal manures for growth of plants, (3) evaluate the leachate water quality and plant uptake of selected elements from prepared mixes, (4) quant

Abstract:
Part I: The purpose of the investigation was to develop the extraction process that was simple, practical and giving high yield. The maceration of dried powder of Garcinia mangostana fruit husk with ethyl acetate gave yellow crystalline powder of mangostin. The yield was calculated as 7.47%. The identification of the Garcinia mangostanahusk extract was carried out by thin-layer chromatography (TLC) and differential scanning calorimetry. The TLC of mangostin was done by using the alumina sheet and ethyl acetate: hexane (3:1) as mobile phase. The Rf value as compared with standard mangostin was
