Objective To examine patterns in relocation of maternal–fetal medicine (MFM) specialists during the recent 10 years. Study Design This descriptive study analyzed the migration of MFM specialists between 2006 and 2016 based on county locations. Year-to-year comparisons of physicians in active clinical practice were performed. Demographic and county characteristics were gathered from three data resources. A multivariable logistic regression model was used to identify factors associated with relocation. Results An average of 7.4% (5.5–10.8%) of all 1,104 (1,103–1,115) MFM specialists moved per ye

Chapter 5 of this book looks at how the DuSable Museum conducted its expansion and physical development in the Black Power era. The museum’s relocation to Washington Park, next to the University of Chicago, reimagined a historically African American social space and neighborhood in the city’s geography and can be considered alongside the highly diverse engagements of Black Power and black arts movement activists around the country with civic-level politics. The politics this expansion effort brought into play also demonstrate how museum work became a significant part of local movements for urban racial equality through the 1960s and early 1970s, a process that further reflected growing interest in African American history.

Abstract:
Pāli is not typically considered a language that allows for much literary flourish, but literary moves are made nonetheless: patterns and rhetorical structures introduced in the first chapter determine how the rest of the historical narrative is literarily conveyed. This chapter argues that structurally significant patterns manifest in the proem itself are what determine the narrative arc of the text, and further explores the metaphor of light as it is employed in the story, paying attention to the way the proems had set up the reader to perceive the transformative richness and practical potential of such metaphors. By exploring this metaphor of light we will see how a certain pattern is developed whereby the physical space of Laṅkā is transformed to a lamp of the dhamma, a cetiya for the future remembrance and representation of the Buddha through relic veneration, while individual hearers are transformed ethically, resulting in the moral community primed for the responsibility of the dhamma. Just as a lamp is primed with oil to effectively receive the flame, so the reader of the Mahāvaṃsa is primed for the full, transformative force of the text by the proem and by the narrative strategies employed.

With evidence from Chapter 4 that residential relocation is associated with a lower likelihood of reincarceration, Chapter 5 examines whether the magnitude of the association is dependent upon an individual’s incarceration history, age, substance abuse problems, gender, or race. With very few exceptions, evidence reveals that most formerly incarcerated individuals reap some benefit from living in a new physical and social environment. However, some groups benefit far more than others from a fresh start in a new location. The effect of residential change on reincarceration is substantially larger for first-releases from imprisonment relative to repeat offenders. Similarly, formerly incarcerated women benefit more than men, as do Whites relative to Blacks. The only subgroup analysis that did not reveal much difference in the magnitude of the effect of residential relocation was related to substance abuse. Individuals with and without a history of substance abuse each benefitted similarly from a residential change.

This chapter discusses how Studio Desire's relocation contingently brought about the revitalization of Game City's downtown. This revitalization was possible as discourses, imaginaries, and alliances at the local level converged around neoliberal public–private partnerships that fetishized creativity, privileged middle-class values, and promoted art as the engine of economic growth. The chapter also unravels how geography, materiality, and space in the digital economy are far from being dead and are, in fact, indispensable to the reproduction of life. Even in the context of globalization, how workers exercise their labor power depends on the physical features, affordances, design logic, and limitations of a particular workplace. Space also matters as it casts social reproduction as a frame.

Despite the general decline in the number of suicides in the world, suicide rates among older adults remain the highest in most countries. Unfortunately, suicide in late life also remains a somewhat neglected topic, and ageistic visions of age-related problems often make suicidal behaviour a justifiable choice. This chapter examines the most important clinical aspects of suicidal behaviours among older adults, offering an overview of the many risk factors: from the role of depression and other mental disorders to the frequent physical diseases that accumulate at advanced age, plus a number of conditions typical of old age such as retirement or relocation to a nursing home. Main therapeutic approaches and elements of prevention at various levels (universal, selective, indicated) are also presented and discussed.

This chapter presents a case study of two English literature courses (one graduate course taught in the Spring 2010 semester and one undergraduate course in the Fall 2011 semester) at Troy University's Dothan, AL, campus analyzing student engagement in relation to the learning environment. Both of these courses presented challenges in facilitating classroom discussion inhibited by the physical design of the learning space. To compensate for these physical limitations, both courses incorporated blended learning. One course was moved outdoors, thereby blending the traditional classroom with a non-traditional learning space, while the other incorporated a blended learning approach that used an online discussion board. Although such “relocations” of the learning space overcame initial barriers to student engagement and success, even the blended approach suggests that further research and investment in classroom design would improve student engagement in both traditional and blended classes by promoting dialogism in the classroom.
