Abstract:
In this article, local varieties of cocoons are studied for factors affecting physicochemical properties. The results of the research work on the topic are presented. Within the framework of the research, the linear density of cocoon threads and the live and dry technological indicators of cocoons were studied by single unwinding of cocoon threads on the laboratory single-opening machine of Ozttiti. According to the results of the cocoon study, the number of cocoons was determined, silkworm breeds and hybrids with large cocoon sizes and high silk yield were selected, and specific recommendations were developed for the multiplication of industrial seeds and specialization in cocoon cultivation in the regions of silkworm production and sericulture clusters, as well as the introduction of its technology.

Abstract:
The purpose of the work was to experimentally substantiate the composition and study the stability of extemporal suppositories with Echinacea, intended for use in complex therapy and prevention of genitourinary diseases.
 Materials and methods. The object of the study was samples of suppositories made by pouring using liquid Echinacea extract as an active pharmaceutical ingredient. Cocoa butter, Witepsol H15 and Witepsol W35 were used as suppository bases. The study was carried out using modern physicochemical, pharmaco-technological and microbiological methods.
 Results. On the basis of the carried out physicochemical and pharmaco-technological studies, it was found that in the manufacture of suppositories using liquid Echinacea extract, Cocoa butter or Witepsol can be used as a suppository bases. The main indicators of the quality of suppository samples were also studied: organoleptic characteristics, average weight, melting point, time of complete deformation, microbiological purity, meeting the requirements of the State Pharmacopoeia.
 Conclusions. As a result of the carried out physicochemical, pharmaco-technological and microbiological studies, a suppository base was selected for the creation of extemporal suppositories for the treatment and prevention of genitourinary diseases, the main quality indicators were established that meet the requirements of the State Pharmacopoeia of Ukraine, and the shelf life of the suppositories is 10 days.

Abstract:
This study aimed to determine the effect of technological parameters of the production of horse meat minces with the addition of protein-oil emulsion from chicken combs on the functional, technological and physicochemical indicators. Chicken combs were pre-treated with bacterial concentrate to improve their properties. Experimental approach: The ultimate shear stress and technological indicators – water holding capacity and oil holding capacity – were determined to set the optimal time for cutting raw materials. Physicochemical analyses of the meat minces were conducted. Results and conclusions: The research results have shown that the cutting time significantly affects the meat minces' rheological, functional and technological indicators. The optimum mixing time for meat minces is 6 min. Adding a protein-oil emulsion from biotechnologically processed chicken combs, cottonseed oil, and water into the minced horse meat does not significantly affect the nutritional value. Adding 15 – 20% protein-oil emulsion (POE) is recommended to get minced meat with optimal rheological parameters. Novelty and scientific contribution: The research results allow the rational use of poultry by-products.

Abstract:
Compositions of artificial soil mixtures, including sand, clay, defecation mud, waste from wet magnetic separation and plant residues in different proportions have been developed. The components were preliminarily comminuted by an auger-drill in order to obtain a homogeneous composition with subsequent granulation, stored in natural conditions in the autumn-winter period, followed by filling in experimental vessels. No any phytotoxic effect for the initial components and for all analyzed samples of the obtained artificial soil mixtures was detected. The chemical composition and some physicochemical properties of artificial soil mixtures, such as density, deposit of moisture and humus content, were determined. It was shown that the samples of the obtained soil mixtures are close to the control (dark gray forest soil of the Belgorod region) and can be recommended for further use in creating cultural landscapes as a substitute for natural soil. The developed type of artificial soil mixtures is suitable for the cultivation of bulbous crops; moreover, a large increase in yield in comparison with the control for some compositions was found. Artificially created soil mixtures reduce the harmful effect on the environment by eliminating the storage of industrial waste such as iron ore and food, plant residues used in the composition of the artificial soil mixture. Artificial soil mixture can be used for remediation of technologically disrupted areas, which will allow restoring disturbed lands and reducing man-caused impact on solid waste landfills. The addition of industrial waste allows them to be re-involved in the technological cycle, which contributes to the development of low-waste and waste-free technologies. The results obtained indicate the possibility of using the studied soil mixtures for cultivation of the decorative bulbous plants. To recommend the developed compositions for the use in agriculture, it is necessary to assess the possibility of impurity translocation from soil samples into cultivated crops.

Abstract:
It is shown that the use of transfer criteria for analysis of the formation processes of structures and phases significantly reduces the amount of experimental research in the design of technological process and equipment using fields and energy flows. It is proposed to use the ratios proportional to the criteria of heat and mass transfer, physicochemical interaction when controlling energy sources. It is shown that the modeling of the combined electromagnetic and thermomechanical effects in the design of technological process and equipment is based on the criteria of heat and mass transfer, electrical and physicochemical interaction, determines the main technological factors, and relates geometric and physical parameters, as well as mechanical quality parameters with the processing performance.

Abstract:
The management practices used by farmers in cassava crops and the relationship with the sensory quality and physicochemical characteristics of cassava roots are still incipient. The objective of this work was to evaluate the productivity, sensory quality and physicochemical properties of cassava roots at harvest times and technological management levels. The study was conducted in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, and the management practices employed in the field experiment corresponded to low, medium and high technological levels used by farmers in southern Brazil. The cultivar “Vassourinha” was used and the roots were harvested in the sixth, the seventh, and the eighth month after planting. The productivity, the physicochemical composition of the roots (dry matter, protein, lipid, ash, total fiber, resistant starch, and total starch) were determined, and the sensory analysis of the roots was performed. Technological levels did not influence the root productivity and it increased with the delay in the harvest season. There was an increase in protein at the high technological level and the highest content of starch was found in the roots harvested in the seventh month. Sensory acceptance of the roots showed greater acceptability in the sixth and seventh months after planting, with roots of a high technological level being preferred. Based on the results, the influence of management practices in the nutritional composition of the roots represents an important aspect for assessing the potential of the roots to be consumed or used in industrial processes.

Abstract:
This research paper addresses the increasing demand for ammonium perrhenate and pure metallic rhenium, emphasizing the importance of developing effective methods for extracting these valuable components from technological waste. The authors detail the processes involved in sorption and leaching of rhenium from molybdenum production waste using various sorbents under static and dynamic conditions. Experiments reveal that new granulated sorbents, particularly P-MDA-6, exhibit superior extraction capabilities compared to traditional methods. The paper also discusses the chemical mechanisms behind rhenium and molybdenum leaching and highlights the role of environmental considerations in developing sustainable extraction technologies. The findings contribute to advancements in metallurgical processes and waste management strategies in Uzbekistan’s industry. In global practice, the demand for ammonium perrhenate and chemically pure metallic rhenium is increasing every day. In this regard, the development of new methods for obtaining metallic rhenium and its chemically pure compounds by processing technogenic waste, improving existing technological processes, obtaining high-quality products from mineral raw materials, as well as comprehensively studying their physicochemical and technological properties and developing an environmentally friendly technology for extracting rare metals, is of great importance.

Abstract:
This study examined the qualitative indicators and physicochemical characteristics of cottonseed, soybean, and linseed oils, as well as their processed products, with the aim of developing new types of shortening fats. The research established that to achieve the required quality and physicochemical characteristics in shortenings from vegetable oils, the following parameters must be observed: phospholipid content (0.97-2.35%), tocopherol content (0.57-1.69 mg/kg), acidity (0.17-0.35 mg·KOH 1 g), and peroxide number (3.1-4.6 mol/kg). Based on these findings, new formulations for shortening fats were proposed using hydrogenated cottonseed (10-90%) and soybean (40-60%) oils, as well as linseed oil (5- 10%). The effective and rational use of local fat sources resulted in improved quality and a minimum content of trans acids, ensuring the food safety of the shortenings. The study also established the role and significance of the quantitative content (15–95%) of hydrogenated fatty acids (Tm=30.7-31.4°C, Tw=180-200 g/cm) and trans-isomerized fatty acids (3.1-4.7%) in the formation of quality indicators and physical and chemical characteristics of the developed shortenings.

Abstract:
The article presents an analysis of reserves and processing of heavy high-viscosity crude oils in Ukraine and the world. A study of the physicochemical properties of heavy high-viscosity oils from the Yablunivske field, Poltava region of Ukraine, taken from various wells was conducted. For further research in order to develop a basic manufacturing scheme for the processing of heavy high-viscosity oils, a mixture of heavy high-viscosity oils from the Yablunivske field was used in certain ratios and its physicochemical properties were determined. As a result of the vacuum distillation of a mixture of heavy high-viscosity oils, the following products were obtained: broad gasoline fraction (fraction boiled up to 2000C), broad diesel fraction (fraction 200–3600C) and the rest of the process (fraction >3600C). An analysis of the physicochemical properties of the prepared fractions was also carried out. It was established that the products obtained from the mixture of heavy high-viscosity oils of the Yablunivske field can be used as raw materials for the production of commercial gasoline and diesel fuels. The rest of the process can serve as raw materials for the production of road bitumen. According to the analysis of the physicochemical properties of the products obtained by vacuum distillation of a mixture of heavy high-viscosity oils, the basics of the processing technology of a mixture of heavy high-viscosity oils of the Yablunivske field were developed. In particular, a manufacturing scheme and a flow chart of the process were proposed, and the material balance was calculated.

Abstract:
The article presents the results of research on the development of a cranberry powder-enriched curd paste technology aimed at improving the nutritional and biological value of the product. Various amounts of cranberry powder (4%, 8%, 12%) were used in the study, allowing the evaluation of their impact on the organoleptic and physicochemical properties of the curd paste. The optimal amount was found to be 8% cranberry powder, which improved the taste, texture, and nutritional value of the product without negatively affecting its physical stability. Organoleptic evaluation showed that the product with 8% cranberry powder had the best flavor and aroma characteristics. Physicochemical analysis revealed that cranberry enrichment increased the carbohydrate and dietary fiber content, enhancing the product's functional properties. Cranberry, as a plant-based component, contributes to increasing the antioxidant activity of the product, making it more beneficial for health. The results of the study can be applied to the development of new types of fortified products based on dairy raw materials with low technological properties and expand the range of functional products in the market.

Abstract:
The present study aimed at characterizing pineapple, apple and melon by-products and evaluating their potential as an ingredient for the partial substitution of wheat flour in cookie formulations. The addition of fruit by-products contributed to rise the cookies fiber content. Melon by-product was prominent for its mineral content, whereas apple by-product presented more relevant results for phenolic compounds and antioxidant capacity (DPPH and ABTS). Such behaviors reflected in the cookie formulations. Eight phenolic compounds (vanillic acid, gallic acid, sinapic acid, salicylic acid, p-coumaric acid, catechin, epicatechin and rutin) were identified and quantified by HPLC in both the by-products and cookies. Regarding the antinutritional factors and mineral bioavailability, it was observed that the addition of fruit by-products in cookies reduced the contents of phytate and oxalate and promoted changes in calcium, iron and zinc bioavailability. Facing the technological aspects, it was observed that the use of by-products interfered in the color of the cookies, making them slightly darker and also weakened the gluten formed, promoting variations in diameter and expansion factor. On the other hand, it was observed that increasing concentrations of by-products led to higher values of hardness, making the cookies firmer and crunchier. In the sensory point of view, it was verified that the cookie with 15% of pineapple by-product demonstrated the highest acceptance, followed by cookies with 15% of apple by-product, control and 15% of melon by-product. By quantitative descriptive analysis (QDA), it was found that the addition of fruit by-products altered the sensory profile of the cookies. From the results obtained, it can be concluded that the fruit by-products are potential ingredients for cookie formulation, attributing to them specific physicochemical, technological, nutritional and sensory properties which can vary according to the by-products employed.<br>O presente estudo visou caracterizar subprodutos de abacaxi, maçã e melão e avaliar seu potencial como ingrediente para substituição parcial de farinha de trigo em formulações de biscoitos. A adição de subprodutos de frutas contribuiu para elevar o teor de fibras dos biscoitos. O subproduto de melão se destacou por seu conteúdo mineral, enquanto que o subproduto de maçã apresentou resultados mais relevantes para compostos fenólicos e capacidade antioxidante (DPPH e ABTS). Tais comportamentos se refletiram nas formulações de biscoitos. Oito compostos fenólicos (ácido vanílico, ácido gálico, ácido sinápico, ácido salicílico, ácido p-cumárico, catequina, epicatequina e rutina) foram identificados e quantificados por HPLC tanto nos subprodutos como nos biscoitos. Com relação aos fatores antinutricionais e biodisponibilidade mineral, observou-se que a adição de subprodutos de frutas em biscoitos diminuiu os teores de fitato e oxalato e promoveu mudanças na biodisponibilidade de cálcio, ferro e zinco. Frente aos aspectos tecnológicos, observou-se que o uso de subprodutos interferiu na cor dos biscoitos, tornando-os levemente mais escuros e também enfraqueceu a rede de glúten formada, promovendo variações do diâmetro e fator de expansão. Por outro lado, observou-se que quanto maior a concentração de subprodutos, maiores foram os valores de dureza (textura), sendo as amostras consideradas mais firmes e crocantes. Do ponto de vista sensorial, verificou-se que o biscoito com 15% de subproduto de abacaxi foi o que demonstrou maior aceitação, seguido pelos cookies com 15% de subproduto de maçã, controle e 15% de subproduto de melão. Por meio de análise descritiva quantitativa (ADQ), observou-se que a adição de subprodutos de frutas alterou o perfil sensorial dos biscoitos. A partir dos resultados obtidos, concluiu-se que os subprodutos de frutas se apresentam como potenciais ingredientes para formulações de cookies, atribuindo-lhes propriedades físico-químicas, tecnológicas, nutricionais e sensoriais específicas as quais podem variar de acordo com o subproduto empregado.

Scholars in science and technology studies have long been concerned with a variety of issues revolving around technological change, such as explaining the origins of technological innovation and arguing for or against technological determinism. This thesis reviews a number of theoretical models developed by historians, philosophers, sociologists, and other scholars to explain technological change. A case study of technological innovations in industnal forestry and timber harvesting practices provides a basis for a critique of these previously proposed models and for an argument for a new model. This work presents a project following a path from kinetic art to immaterial art through synchronization of dynamical systems. Two or several robots driven by a chaotic system follow irregular trajectories and their motions are coordinated. Then thanks to a pattern of lights the robots generate interesting images and patterns. In this way the viewer-user is invited to take an active role in the creation of this kind of immaterial art. The present work is organized as follow into seven chapters that cover R&D conducted at the DIEES department on several aspects related to the topic of Interactive Platforms for the creation of immaterial art. The thesis is divided into three important sections 1)Chaotic robots and kinetic art: Interaction between art and technology. This part shows the process of interaction between art and technology, and describes in details the realized platform and the obtained results. 2)From kinetic art to immaterial art through synchronization of chaotic robots. The realized platform for the synchronization of two robots is here described. The process of creation of art through the interaction between user and robot is also explained. 3)Mirror neurons robots: Learning synchronization and immaterial art. The research takes inspiration from the study of the applications on robotics of Mirror Neurons as principles of imitation and learning of movement. In this last section the principles of the learning synchronization between two robots are described. The realized platform for the creation of immaterial art through the interaction between user and mirror neuron robots is here described.

Thesis (DPhil)--University of Stellenbosch, 2008.<br>ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This thesis presents the findings and conclusions of the function of research in the technikons’ journey from apprenticeship training to technological degrees. The analysis and interpretation of primary sources on the development of technical higher education and research revealed that research developments at technikons evolved in a pattern so closely resembling and reflecting an evolving technical education mission that it is difficult if not impossible to pinpoint cause and effect. The evolving technical education mission was characterised by diversity entrenched in the provision of technical education, a continuing problematic process of differentiation between vocational and technical education, the development of formal centrally-controlled technical higher education and continuous differences between the Education Department and the sector officials on the nature of the technical higher qualifications and the role of research in these qualifications. As a result of the factors characterising the development of technical higher education, gaps were created between the technikon officials’ vision of research at technikons, the strategies and plans to establish a research culture and the technikons’ research performance. In addition, an evaluation of technikon research performance in terms of the nature, scope, content and volume of research reflects a limited understanding of the relation between the input factors and the process factors utilised to lead to a system capable of sustaining a research culture, especially in view of maintaining the newly-assigned University status.<br>AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Hierdie dissertasie handel oor die bevindinge en slotsom ten opsigte van die funksie van navorsing in die technikons se reis van vakleerlingskapopleiding tot die aanbied van tegnologiese grade. Dit maak dit moeilik, indien nie onmoontlik nie, om die oorsaak en gevolg vas te stel. Die evolusie van die tegniese onderwysmissie is gekenmerk deur diversiteit wat ingebed is in die voorsiening van tegniese onderwys, ‘n voortdurende problematiese proses van differensiasie tussen beroeps- en tegniese onderwys, die ontwikkeling van formele sentraalbeheerde hoër tegniese onderwys en voortdurende verskille tussen die Department van Onderwys en die sektorbeamptes oor die aard van die hoër tegniese kwalifikasies en die rol van navorsing in hierdie kwalifikasies. As gevolg van die faktore wat die ontwikkeling van hoër tegniese onderwys gespeel het, het gapings ontstaan tussen die technikonbeamptes se visie van navorsing aan technikons, die strategieë en planne wat ontwikkel is om ‘n navorsingskultuur te vestig en die technikons se navorsingsuitsette. Saam daarmee het ‘n evaluasie van technikonnavorsingprestasie in terme van die aard, omvang, inhoud en volume ‘n beperkte begrip van die verhouding tussen insetfaktore en die prosesfaktore wat gebruik word om tot ‘n sisteem te lei wat daartoe in staat is om ‘n navorsingskultuur te onderhou, gereflekteer, veral met die doel om die nuuttoegekende universiteitstatus te onderhou.

AbstractComposting is one of the most widely used technologies for the recovery and use of organic waste from municipal solid waste (MSW); however, its implementation in some developing countries has mostly been ineffective. This chapter documents the experience of the composting of municipal organic waste in the urban area of ​the municipality of Versalles, Valle del Cauca, Colombia. Within the locality, composting of organic waste occurs at an MSW management plant (SWMP), after being separated at the source and selectively collected. The information presented was generated through collaborative research projects, conducted with the cooperation of Camino Verde APC (a community-based organisation providing sanitation services) and Universidad del Valle (Cali, Colombia). The evaluations undertaken show that (i) within the locality, high rates of separation, at the source, in conjunction with selective collection and efficient waste sorting and classification processes in the SWMP, have significantly facilitated the composting process; (ii) the incorporation of locally available amendment or bulking materials (e.g. star grass and cane bagasse) improves the physicochemical quality of the processed organic waste and favours development (i.e. a reduction in process time), leading to an improvement in product quality; (iii) the operation, maintenance and monitoring of the composting process can be carried out by previously trained local human talent; and (iv) revenues from the sale of the final product (compost) are not sufficient to cover the operating costs of the composting process. Despite this current lack of financial viability, the application of technology entails environmental benefits (e.g. a reduction in the generation of greenhouse gases) and social benefits (e.g. employment opportunities), which, given the conditions in the municipality studied, highlight the relevance of this technological option.

In this study, we report the functionalization of imidazolium-based ionic liquids (ImIL) onto mesoporous silica SBA-15 nanomaterial with a larger surface area of 737.96 m2/g and an interpore distance of 10.68 nm. Imidazolium-based ionic liquids, 1-(3-triethoxysilylpropyl)-methylimidazolium chloride was functionalized with concentration of 1.0, 2.0, 4.0, 6.0, 8.0 and 10.0 mmol onto SBA-15 via a sol-gel method to obtain xImIL-SBA-15 nanocomposites. Small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), N2 adsorption/desorption analysis and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) were used to characterize the ImIL-SBA-15 nanocomposites. SAXS patterns of ImIL-SBA-15 nanocomposites possessed (1 0 0), (1 1 0) and (2 0 0) diffractions respectively, which indicated that the well-ordered hexagonal mesostructure of SBA-15 support remained intact after functionalization of ImIL. The total surface area, total pore volume and BJH pore size distribution of all ImIL-SBA-15 nanocomposites decreasing with the increasing amount of ImIL from 393.27 to 354.39 m2/g which indicated that the pore channel and/or surface of SBA-15 were occupied by ImIL without significant reduction of the quality. It was found that the grafted amount of ImIL on SBA-15 nanocomposites increased from 0.60 to 0.97 mmol/g when amount of ImIL content in the mixture was increased from 1.0 to 10.0 mmol. FESEM micrographs showed a similar pattern as SBA-15 indicating that the mesoporous hexagonal structure of SBA-15 was still retained. Thus, it can be concluded that xImIL-SBA-15 nanocomposites was successfully synthesized by functionalization of ImIL onto mesoporous silica SBA-15.

The study purpose: systematization of research results on the production technology and properties of triclabendazole (TCB)-based solid dispersions and polymer substances. Research results: we performed the analysis of technology features for producing solid dispersions (SDs) of the TCB substance with various polymeric substances (polyvinylpyrrolidone, hydroxyethyl starch, pectins, arabinogalactan, etc.), physicochemical properties of the obtained SDs (solubility, TCB preservation and release in model systems), toxicity, and biological activity. HPLC and UV spectroscopy methods were used to study the TCB solubility, preservation, and release from SDs. The solubility rate was taken as an optimization parameter according to which Triclafascid was selected in the form of a SD in the formulation TCB:AG (1:9) for its further introduction into veterinary practice. We studied parameters of the toxicity and antifasciloid effect, process performance, and other parameters as required to introduce Triclafascid. To improve the solubility of Triclafascid, an alternative approach was used to obtain its salt forms by including succinic acid in its formulation. The resulting SDs had significantly higher solubility and efficacy parameters when the TCB dosage was reduced. A series of studies was conducted to develop laboratory regulations and pilot production regulations for introducing Triclafascid into veterinary practice. Conclusions: the systematization of the obtained data on formulation, and on studying physical, chemical, technological, and biological properties made it possible to determine measures to introduce Triclafascid into veterinary practice.

This research aims to summarize and update the topic of recycling thermal insulation materials, exploring methods for their reuse and, when recycling is not possible, their disposal. The increasing amount of construction waste from demolished buildings, particularly thermal insulation materials, poses a challenge for the environment and human health. This challenge is especially evident in Ukraine, where the amount of construction waste from the war damage is growing daily. To reduce the impact on landfills, ecology, and to introduce a promising direction in the economy, it is necessary to implement measures for recycling and reusing such materials. The focus is on existing efficient recycling methods at the international level, disposal, and reuse of thermal insulation materials, as well as studying new technologies that could be adapted during the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine in the context of current environmental, economic, and technological challenges. The research includes the theoretical study of the physicochemical properties of materials for their use and recycling. In cases where recycling of certain materials is not feasible, methods for their energy recovery are considered. The research methodology involves a comprehensive evaluation of methods for determining their suitability for reuse, a comparative analysis of recycling technologies, combining theoretical, economic, and environmental approaches. The conclusions contain recommendations for implementing a more effective method of recycling thermal insulation materials in Ukraine, taking into account international experience and Ukrainian realities. This will contribute to the creation of sustainable models for managing construction waste, reducing negative environmental impacts, conserving resources, and enhancing the energy efficiency of reconstructed facilities.

Brazing is a physicochemical process that combines adsorption, diffusion, dissolution, wetting, capillary flow, adhesion, melting and crystallization. The joining of materials of different nature, despite significant progress in this direction, still requires detailed fundamental research - physical, chemical, technological and improvement of already existing technological processes and solders, development of new multi-component solders, metallization coatings and methods of their application [1–4] . The purpose of this work is to find means of reducing the destruction of the surface of a ceramics during its metallization by rubbing with new designs of tools for rubbing, to determine their effect on wetting and brazing modes of oxide ceramics with metal solders. Three new types of Ti tools for grinding non-metals using a spongy porous structure and a foil with a thickness of 0.07-0.10 mm have been produced. Samples of A995 and VK94-1 high-alumina ceramics metallized by the proposed method were obtained. It was established that the surface roughness of non-metals affects the composition and microstructure of the applied coating in air. As the roughness decreases, both the density and oxidation of the coating increase. Wetting of ceramics with this coating with PSr72 solder (copper-silver eutectic) was studied, soldered joints were obtained, and the microstructure of the metal-oxide contact zone was studied. Studies of the microstructure of the soldered joint showed that the PSr72 melt permeates the titanium coating, saturates with Ti and wets the ceramics. That is, such metallization does not require coating density and accelerates the saturation of the melt with Ti. The main role of metallization by rubbing is to supply Ti to the base of the solder melt. The advantages of rubbing ceramics with titanium in the form of a porous spongy structure and foil in comparison with a compact metal tool are given. The best results are obtained using a tool made of porous Ti.
