Abstract:
In 2005, fifteen southernpea (Vigna unguiculata L.) Walp. subsp. unguiculata (L.) cultivars were evaluated for yield and quality at Crystal Springs, Miss. Pods were hand-harvested at the green-shell stage on three dates in August and early September 2005. In-shell fresh weights, shelled seed weight, and percent shell-out were recorded. Data was compared with that from similar trials in 2003 and 2004. Little disease or insect pressure has been seen in any year. Most peas evaluated have been in the pink-eye class. In 2005, all pink-eye types produced statistically similar fresh seed yield. Top Pick Brown Crowder produced higher seed yield than all other entries. Cream peas tested were generally lower yielding than the pink-eye types, with the lone black-eye cultivar tested, California Blackeye No. 5, intermediate in seed yield. Weighted average days to midharvest was not different among pink-eye cultivars evaluated but was slightly longer for several cream entries and for California Blackeye No. 5. Percent shell-out was highest in Top Pick Brown Crowder and lowest in Mississippi Cream. Over 3 years, more than thirty cultivars have been evaluated in the trials. Overall, most peas within a seed type have produced similar yields with few exceptions. Some lodging of the top-setting peas has been seen. The top-setting peas may offer advantages of ease of picking for hand-harvest in pick-your-own, small farm, and home garden situations. This trial does not address performance for machine harvest.

Abstract:
Genetics of flower Colour in winka Catharanthus roseus (L) G. Don were in vestigate by inheritance two types (strains) of plants with different flowers colour were used in this study, pink corolla, and strong violet-purple eye color, and strong pink stem, and dark green leaf lamina (P), and White corolla, and yellow and greenish eye, and strong pink stem, and yellow and green leaf lamina (W) as parents, to determine the number of genes involved. This study was conducted at Horticulture Administration, Ministry of Agriculture, Kassala State, Sudan during for three years the period: Jan 2016 to Oct. 2020. First the two parents were covered to ensure self-pollination. Reciprocal cross has been carried out between the two inbred parents. The study showed that a single pair of genes is probably involved in flower colour and that gene for pink corolla, and strong violet-purple eye color, and strong pink stem, and dark green leaf lamina (P) is incompletely dominant over that for White corolla, and yellow and greenish eye, and strong pink stem, and yellow and green leaf lamina (W). The reciprocal crosses gave the same results indicating no role of cytoplasmic genes in the inheritance of these colors.

Abstract:
Conjunctivitis is the most common cause of red eye and one of the most frequent causes of visits to clinicians. There is significant controversy on the diagnosis and treatment of the disease and the use of ophthalmic antibiotics. The inconvenience of the untimely diagnostic tests led to the trend of treating conjunctivitis empirically with ophthalmic antibiotics. Subsequently, the diagnosis of bacterial conjunctivitis is higher than it should be resulting in overuse of antibiotics. Consequences of inappropriate diagnosis and treatment include increased virulence, increased health care costs, and incorrect use of antibiotics leading to possible adverse reaction and antibiotic resistance. Appropriate diagnosis and treatment will assist to reduce the diagnosis of bacterial conjunctivitis and use of ophthalmic antibiotics resulting in reduced virulence and reduced health care costs. The AdenoPlus test has been shown to be effective in appropriately diagnosing viral conjunctivitis and subsequently decreasing the use of ophthalmic antibiotics however this evidence in limited. A national retail clinic has adopted the use of this tool to assist with proper diagnosis and treatment of viral conjunctivitis. Data has not yet been analyzed to determine if the implementation of this test changes the practice of clinicians at the national retail clinic.

Abstract:
My Eyes Due See is a multidimensional examination of the “black experience” in America. The installation is composed of a single-channel video, a music composition that utilizes music samples and live instrumentation, and sculptures made up of car parts and broomsedge grass. Each of these elements arranged in space share a nuanced and complicated view of blackness through the lens of a black man decoding personal history and American history simultaneously. Autonomy is the overarching theme throughout the work as it pertains to race, identity, urban and rural environments, and the relationship between generational trauma and nostalgia.

Abstract:
Vengono applicati due differenti approcci appartenenti all'SfM, in seguito confrontati.

Abstract:

Abstract:
碩士<br>慈濟大學<br>生命科學系碩士班<br>99<br>Phosphatase of regenerating liver (PRL) protein family showed high degree of correlation with cancer metastasis and it has been considered as a potential target for cancer therapy. However, PRL substrate has not yet been identified and its function in development is still unclear. PRL is highly conserved in among species. In Drosophila genome, it has only one PRL gene with about 70% similarity to its human homologs, hPRL1, 2, and 3. Previous studies in our lab indicated that dmPRL knockdown caused cell death during Drosophila eye development. In this study we demonstrate that the phenotype of dmPRL knockdown can be rescued by overexpression of hPRL3 or zfPRL2. It has been shown that the PTEN and PI3K/Akt signaling pathways regulate cell proliferation and cell growth during Drosophila eye development. In human cancer cell lines, it has been found that hPRL can paticipate in the regulation of the PTEN/PI3K-Akt signaling. To test the genetic interaction of dmPRL and the PTEN/PI3K-Akt pathway during Drosophila eyes development, we constructed several versions of dmPRL mutant proteins. Our results indicate that dmPRL could be involved in the regulation of the PTEN/PI3K-Akt pathway. In proliferating cell, dmPRL overexpression can suppress the small eyes phenotype caused by overexpression of dPTEN or Dp110D954A. In differentiating cells, dmPRL not only affects the growth signal of the PI3K/Akt pathway, but also regulates cell death through signaling pathways which independent of the PI3K/Akt signaling.

Abstract:
碩士<br>國立中正大學<br>分子生物研究所<br>96<br>Abstract-I The Drosophila compound eye has been used extensively as a model system to study the signaling pathways involving in regulation of cell events during organogenesis. Previous studies have reported that activation of Notch (N) at dorsoventral (D/V) boundary activates the expression of the transcription factor, eyegone (eyg), which in turn activates unpaired (upd) and goes through Jak/STAT signaling pathway to regulate cell proliferation during Drosophila early eye development. We found a spontaneous mutant fly in our lab and named it freaky eye (fee). fee exhibits various levels of reduced eye phenotypes and sometimes has outgrowth of non-eye tissues at defect regions. Upregulation of Upd/Jak/STAT signaling activity and downregulation of both N signaling activity and eyg transcription were observed in fee. In contract with previous reports, evidences showed that ectopic activity of Upd/Jak/STAT signaling caused reduced eye through downregulation of N/Eyg signaling in fee. We also provided evidences to prove that fee is an allele of Lobe, which is an ortholog of human PRAS40 (praline-rich Akt substrate) and involved in PI3K/Akt/TORC1 signaling pathway. It is likely that the phenotypes of fee are caused by altered PI3K/Akt/TORC1 signaling pathway. Various studies reported that Notch, Jak/STAT, and PI3K/Akt/TORC1 signaling pathways are sometimes mis-regulated during tumorigenesis. In our study, we revealed that fee might be used as a model to clarify the networks among PI3K/Akt/TORC, Upd/Jak/STAT, and Notch signaling pathways, and also as a tool for tumor drug targets screening further. Abstract-II Cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) are proteins located on cell surface and involved in the cell-cell or cell-ECM (extracellular matrix) adhesion. The CAMs were reported to play roles in embryonic development, formation of nervous system, holding tissues together in adults, wound healing and inflammation, metastasis of tumors, signals transmit into and out of the cell. rail spike (risk) localizes at 60E on the second chromosome and risk mRNA is expressed in the epidermis, nervous system, dorsal vessel and hindgut in Drosophila. The previous studies in our lab showed that Risk mediates axon guidance in embryonic central nervous system (CNS). N-CAM is reported as a neural adhesion molecule involved in axonal guidance, neurite outgrowth and synaptic plasticity in vertebrates. In this study, we carried out the protein sequence analysis and found that Risk bears many protein properties that are similar to N-CAM. Risk was expressed in Drosophila melanogaster S2 cells for protein properties examination. We provided some data to prove that Risk really exhibits many properties of adhesion molecule and can mediate homophilic cell-cell adhesion. We also observed that reduction of Risk content in Drosophila causes shorter lifespan. Altogether, we revealed that one function of Risk in molecular level is to mediate cell-cell adhesion by in vitro assay, and we also found that Risk is involved in lifespan maintenance.
