Twenty-five arthropod species, field-collected from habitats adjacent to cotton in Mississippi, were evaluated in laboratory arenas for their potential as late-season predators of the tarnished plant bug (TPB), Lygus lineolaris (Palisot). Five species were documented for the first time as predators on TPB: Jalyssus wickami Van Duzee (Heteroptera: Berytidae), Stiretrus anchorago (F.) The type species of Stoliczka O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1885—S. insignis O. Pickard-Cambridge, 1885—is redescribed for the first time, based on a lectotype here designated. The genus has an uncertain taxonomic position. Originally, it was placed in Lycosidae, while it is currently considered a Pisauridae (Pisaurinae). It includes only two species known from the Western Himalayas, of which the type species remains known only from the females and S. affinis Caporiacco, 1935, which is known from a juvenile only. An uncommon behavioral feature of these spiders is the attachment of egg cocoons to the s

Phylogenetic relationships within the superfamily Lycosoidea are investigated through the coding and analysis of character data derived from morphology, behaviour and DNA sequences. In total, 61 terminal taxa were studied, representing most of the major groups of the RTA-clade (i.e. spiders that have a retrolateral tibial apophysis on the male palp). Parsimony and model-based approaches were used, and several support values, partitions and implied weighting schemes were explored to assess clade stability. The great abundance of this treefrog in the region, combined with its small body size during the juvenil stage, favor its predation by generalists predators. Abstract:
AbstractThe spider genus Ancylometes Bertkau, 1880 is revised. A. vulpes Bertkau, 1880, type species of the genus, is considered a junior subjective synonym of Dolomedes concolor Perty, 1833. Both types are lost and we redescribe the species based on specimens similar to those found at the type locality of A. vulpes. Spiders of the genus are large nocturnal ground-living hunting spiders with a strong affinity in most species, to water bodies within their tropical environment. Those species hunt also on small vertebrates like frogs, tadpoles and fishes. All species show slight sexual dimorphism

Abstract:
While identifying Pisauridae from Laos and checking various genera of this family from Southeast Asia, two monotypic genera were striking: Hesydrimorpha Strand 1911 and Papakula Strand 1911. Both were described by Strand (1911) from Eastern Indonesia and the type material was deposited in the Senckenberg Museum (SMF). They were recorded from the same island (Kobroor) and the same locality (Papakoela, Papakula). The labels and original descriptions state they were collected by H. Merton. Strand (1911) also mentioned in the publication that the specimens were collected in a house, most likely th
