Rice blast caused by Pyricularia oryzae (P. oryzae) is one of the most serious diseases infecting rice worldwide. In the present study, virulence pattern of six P. oryzae pathotypes (P0.0, P0.2, P1.0, P3.0, P7.0 and P9.0) identified from the blast pathogen collected in Peninsular Malaysia, were evaluated using a set of 22 IRRI-bred blast resistance lines (IRBL) as well as to determine the resistance genes involved. The D defect, which causes the degradation of gate oxide integrities (GOI), can be revealed by Secco etching as flow pattern defect (FPD) in both float zone (FZ) and Czochralski (Cz) silicon crystal or as crystal originated particles (COP) by a multiple-step SC-1 cleaning process. By decreasing the crystal growth rate or high temperature annealing, the FPD density can be reduced, while the D defectsize increased. During the etching, the FPD surface density and etch pit size (FPD #1) increased withthe etch depth, while the wedge shaped contours do not change their positions and curvatures (FIG.

Pit membranes in between neighboring conduits of xylem play a crucial role in plant water transport. In this review, the morphological characteristics, chemical composition and mechanical properties of bordered pit membranes were summarized and linked with their functional roles in xylem hydraulics. The trade-off between xylem hydraulic efficiency and safety was closely related with morphology and properties of pit membranes, and xylem embolism resistance was also determined by the pit membrane morphology and properties. Besides, to further investigate the effects of bordered pit membranes mor

Dye-based chromoendoscopy (DCE) with targeted biopsies is recommended for surveillance of patients with long-standing inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD), but endoscopic features that predict dysplasia are not fully clarified. We here aimed at identifying predictive factors of dysplastic/neoplastic lesions in IBD patients undergoing DCE. Two-hundred-and-nineteen patients were consecutively and prospectively enrolled from October 2019 to March 2022. One-hundred-and-forty-five out of 219 patients underwent DCE, and 148 lesions were detected in 79/145 (54%) patients. Thirty-nine lesions (26%) were

The pathogenicity of 192 blast isolates collected from regions across the whole of Laos from 2007 to 2009 showed a wide variation in terms of the frequencies of virulence toward differential varieties (DVs) and the susceptible control cultivar Lijiangxintuanheigu. High frequencies of virulence (>50%) were found in the reactions of DVs for Pit, Pia, Pi3, Pi5(t), Pik-s, Piz-t, Pi19(t), and Pi20(t); intermediate values (from 10 to 50%) were found in DVs for Pib, Pii, Pik-m, Pi1, Pik-h, Pik, Pik-p, Pi7(t), Piz-5, Pita (two lines), Pita-2 (two lines), and Pi12(t); and low frequencies (<10%) w

However, the similarities and differences in forces and deformations between foundation pits excavated by the zonal method and those excavated by the conventional method still need to be further explored. In this study, the deformation was monitored and analyzed by taking the zonal excavation of a foundation pit of the ‘New World’ project in Hangzhou City as the research object. Temperature is of crucial importance, affecting all aspects of insect life such as survival, development and daily activity patterns, and consequently behaviour. In the present study we evaluated the effect of temperature on the behavioural plasticity of antlion larvae, the sit-and-wait predators, which are considerably more dependent on local habitat conditions. We provided ethological descriptions of pit construction and feeding behaviour. An increase in temperature led to greater activity and consequently to greater frequency of sand tossing during pit construction. Larvae constructed bigge

Etching process happens on diamond substrates using a variety of etch mask materials including copper and nickel. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and atomic force microscope (AFM) show different kinds of diamond etching pattern of two mask materials. It is observed that the etching pit of copper is tetrahedron, while the etching pit of nickel is step structure. This indicates diverse etching mechanism of diamond etched by different metal.
