Optical metasurfaces are starting to find their way into integrated devices, where they can enhance and control the emission, modulation, dynamic shaping, and detection of light waves. In this study, we show that the architecture of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays can be completely reenvisioned through the introduction of nanopatterned metasurface mirrors. In the resulting meta-OLED displays, different metasurface patterns define red, green, and blue pixels and ensure optimized extraction of these colors from organic, white light emitters. A 1.03‐inch 2560x2560 low power OLEDoS backplane with a proposed in‐pixel up‐scaling technique is designed and implemented. Due to the proposed technique based on interpolated pixel scheme, the pixel density of the backplane realizes 3514 PPI (Pixels per Inch) with lower power consumption. The backplane has 1280x1280 input video resolution and output video resolution is upscaled to 2560x2560 without additional up‐scaler. A measured power consumption per 1 mega pixel without OLED frontplane is 16.3mW which is less than our previous 0.7‐inch 1920x1080 OLEDoS backplane with the same semiconductor

Wafer-scale blue micro-light-emitting diode (micro-LED) arrays were fabricated with a pixel size of 12 μm, a pixel pitch of 15 μm, and a pixel density of 1692 pixels per inch, achieved by optimizing the properties of e-beam-deposited and sputter-deposited indium tin oxide (ITO). Although the sputter-deposited ITO (S-ITO) films exhibited a densely packed morphology and lower resistivity compared to the e-beam-deposited ITO (E-ITO) films, the forward voltage (VF) values of a micro-LED with the S-ITO films were higher than those with the E-ITO films. This work presents a novel pixel circuit that consists of five transistors and two capacitors for active‐matrix micro‐LED (AMμLED) displays. The proposed pixel circuit uses external compensation to compensate for variations in the low‐temperature polycrystalline‐silicon thin‐film transistor (LTPS TFT) threshold voltage and adopts pulse width modulation (PWM) to modulate the grayscale. According to the simulation results and a layout example, the proposed pixel circuit is expected to be applied in high pixels per inch (PPI) car displays in the future.

The solution supports scalable resolution‐refresh rate configurations, such as 4K HSR 240Hz and 2K HSR 480Hz, offering a cost‐effective approach for high‐ PPI a

Quantum dot (QD)/organic nanohybrids were developed to be utilized in electrohydrodynamic (EHD) jet‐printed QD‐LEDs. Side‐chain copolymer with elongated aliphatic thiol groups was newly introduced into the nanohybrids to coordinate the polymer chains with the QD surface. The QD‐LEDs with the nonohybrids showed a higher current efficiency over 4‐fold than that with a QD‐only active layer. EHD jet‐printing was independently performed up to 5µm pixel pitch on a substrate, resulting in a resolution of ca. 5,080 pixels per inch.

LaserJets, like many other printers, print in lines per inch (Ipi). The lines represent in digital image printing lines of pixels. If the pixels are printed squarely than each square area (of a width equal to that of the actual line width) must be printed with a desired amount of ink variations in order to generate the gray levels (see John Russ’ book for a nice illustration on how this is done in a LaserJet). LaserJets and Inkjets use dots as the smallest printed entity.

Visual cryptography (VC) using bit-plane decomposition improves the quality of the reconstructed image. The disadvantage of this scheme is that the decoder needs computation in order to reconstruct the secret image from its bit-planes. To solve this problem, we propose a no-computation bit-plane decomposition visual cryptography (NC-BPDVC). In NC-BPDVC, we convert the grayscale secret image into a multitone image by multilevel halftoning. Then, by exploring the difference between a digital pixel and a printed dot, we design different dot patterns to render a digital pixel. By doing so, we aban

In recent years, image recognition, along with improvements in image processing technology, has become a mainstream method of object inspection. The quality of images directly affects the image-recognition rate. Track monitoring systems play an important role in ensuring safety and preventing derailments of trains, on the basis of the prevailing track conditions. Therefore, the conditions of track systems are very important. In this research, a high-speed frame grabber system is designed. It is a well-known fact that radiographs deteriorate with time. Substantial cost is attributed to cataloguing and storage. To eliminate deterioration issues and save time retrieving radiographs, laser scanning techniques were developed in conjunction with viewing and enhancement software. This will allow radiographs to be successfully scanned and stored electronically for future reference. Today’s radiographic laser scanners are capable of capturing images with an optical density of up to 4.1 at 256 grey levels and resolutions up to 4096 pixels per line.
