Abstract:
The Armenian word čandar-i appears in two basic meanings: ‘plane tree’ and ‘poplar, aspen’. It is attested in a Commentary on Genesis hesitantly attributed to Eɫišē. The other two attestations of the word come from authors originating from eastern parts of Armenia: Kirakos Ganjakec‘i (13th century) and Zak‘aria Sarkawag K‘anak‘eṙc‘i (17th century). Particularly important is the testimony from Chapter 21 of Ganjakec‘i who mentions čandari, the local equivalent of sawsi ‘plane tree’. The Iranian origin of čandar-i is obvious, though the etymological details are unclear. Łarabaɫ tənǰərí/ɛ́, which

The neoteny of 64-day-old European plane tree autovegetative progeny is described, starting from the fact that sexual maturity in the juvenile stage of tree development is a rare and significant process by which the period of synthesis of new lower taxonomic units is shortened. The observed formation of European plane tree reproductive organs has been classified as induced neoteny. Compared to the inflorescences of mature European plane trees, the number of precocious inflorescences was lower, flower structure was simpler, and the diameters of inflorescences were the same. The London plane (Platanus × acerifolia (Aiton) Willd.) street tree is a symbolic tree species in Nanjing City, which is known as the “city card”. However, accidents such as street trees falling over cars, affecting traffic, and hurting people have seriously affected the daily lives of citizens. Thus, it is of vital significance to accurately assess the potential for tree failure in London plane street trees in Nanjing City. This study comprehensively considers the growth condition of London plane street trees and their impact on traffic, establishes a scientific street tree failure assessment

A \(k\)-plane tree is a tree drawn in the plane such that the vertices are labeled by integers in the set \(\{1,2,\ldots,k\}\), the children of all vertices are ordered, and if \((i,j)\) is an edge in the tree, where \(i\) and \(j\) are labels of adjacent vertices in the tree, then \(i+j\leq k+1\). In this paper, we construct bijections between these trees and the sets of \(k\)-noncrossing increasing trees, locally oriented \((k-1)\)-noncrossing trees, Dyck paths, and some restricted lattice paths.

The protection number of a plane tree is the minimal distance of the root to a leaf; this definition carries over to an arbitrary node in a plane tree by considering the maximal subtree having this node as a root. We study the the protection number of a uniformly chosen random tree of size n and also the protection number of a uniformly chosen node in a uniformly chosen random tree of size n. The method is to apply singularity analysis to appropriate generating functions. Additional results are provided as well.

How to construct the “appropriate” split hyper-plane in test nodes is the key of building decision trees. Unlike a univariate decision tree, a multivariate (oblique) decision tree could find the hyper-plane that is not orthogonal to the features’ axes. In this paper, we re-explain the process of building test nodes in terms of geometry. Based on this, we propose a method of learning the hyper-plane with two stages. The tree (TSDT) induced in this way keeps the interpretability of univariate decision trees and the trait of multivariate decision trees which could find oblique hyper-plane. The te

Similarly, given a connected arrangement 𝒮 of line segments in the plane and a nonempty subset 𝒮′ ⊆ 𝒮, we define a guarding tree for 𝒮′. Since at least the time the Akkadian version of The Epic of Gilgamesh was preserved in clay tablets nearly four thousand years ago, human beings have weaved plants and gardens into their stories. The way they appear in myth and literature is often as diverse as it is fascinating: they might figure as settings, metaphors, analogies, or be imbued with symbolism. This particular treatment of plants and gardens is not limited to myth and literature though. In a number of Plato’s dialogues he utilises them in a similar way.
