Full textHarvesting step in a global operating microalgae process whose contribute substantially to whole process cost. Identifying and characterizing low-energy processes to fully or partially replace centrifugation, the reference method, represents a major challenge. In this context, the present work investigates the potential of natural flocculation and membrane processes. So, it has been shown that the natural rise in the culture pH associated with photosynthesis allowed cells flocculation by the precipitation of calcium phosphate or magnesium compounds. Thus, the cells could be preconcentrated up to 30 gMS. L-1. This process is rather long and must be controlled by adjusting the ionic composition of the culture media (nitrate as the nitrogen source; concentrations in Ca2+, PO4 3-, Mg2+). Natural flocculation seems feasible only for marine microalgal strains for which culture media are rich in salts, but not for freshwater strains. As natural flocculation produces a low concentrated harvest, it should be considered as a preconcentration technique which will probably require an extra step of concentration for most of applications. One stage membrane processes without fouling control (backwashing, enhancing shear-rate. . . ) was also investigated. Microalgal cells were concentrated up to 100 gMS. L-1 but with low permeation flux (< 30 L. H-1. M-2). Enhanced dynamic filtration that limits strongly membrane fouling allowed to obtain higher filtration fluxes (40 < J < 80 L. H-1. M-2). The moderate flux fall with cells concentration is promising regarding the ability of this kind of filtration to reach high cell concentrations in a single step

Full textNatural catastrophes are complex hazards which generate major losses, especially in the agricultural sector. As a result, their insurability is limited and the insurance market is incomplete. Facing these limitations, we develop an innovative combination of insurance and financial instruments adapted to the coverage of the different aspects of natural risks. Our application focuses on crop insurance which is being reformed in France. The thesis is organized in four main parts: the first part presents a survey of literature on catastrophic risks and the potential insurance and financial instruments. The second part exposes a case study on flood risk management at the river-basin scale. In a third part, we develop a theoretical model that tends to offer an optimal coverage against catastrophic risk. The fourth part consists in an empirical validation of the model performing regressions and a full set of tests

Full textThe post-harvest cooling of horticultural products is an essential operation to ensure optimal conditions of preservation and of marketing. This operation which is often carried out using air flow is highly energy-consuming. Therefore it is important to dispose some tools that can optimize the design and management of such installations. This work concerns the pre-cooling of cauliflower which requires a cooling phase of several hours. The macroscopic properties that are needed for the numerical simulation of heat conduction within the product were determined. An experimental facility was set up in order to establish the cooling kinetics of a product placed in an air flow. From these experimental data, a first 3D numerical model that takes into account the thermo-aeraulic phenomena and thermal conduction has been implemented. The equations have been implemented under COMSOL Multiphysics software. A second 1D numerical model that calculates the fields of temperature and water content in a product was then developed to simulate the cooling of several products lined up in an air flow. The comparison of simulation results with experimental surveys on an industrial site shows the relevance of the method. These numerical developments were then used to initiate an offline approach of the optimal control of the ventilation. Two criteria are taken into account: the desired final temperature and the energy consumption owing to the thermal losses of the building envelope

Full textThe food storage is a key step in the chain of plants processing activities. Despite the abundance of work in this domain, field surveys are widely dispersed. The objective of our work is to establish a repository interpretative of plant products storage structures and to identify ail the factors determining the use of a structure rather than another. This study describes and identifies the technical function of the main storage structures encountered during a survey in three regions in northern, western and southern Morocco. The survey shows that rural moroccan tribes do not have the same importance to the various plant food storage techniques. From north to south of Morocco, we met with various techniques. This technical choice is not only linked to changes in regional eating habits, it is also influenced by a variety of environmental and socio-economic. The type of cereal does not govern this choice: it is the destination of grain harvested (sale, consumption or sowing), which determines the storage system. The study also addresses the conservation of crops which are not always attaches importance. Cereals are stored in Morocco as part of food security until the next harvest. Depending on the length of storage, the efficacy of cereals storage techniques. These commodities may suffer substantial qualitative and quantitative losses due to a variety of pests. This research presents the results of an evaluation of dry weight losses due to the insects attacks during the underground storage (underground pits) and aboveground storage (plastic bags) of the cereals (durum wheat, common it and maize). Our study bas been performed in the region of Doukkala (North Western of Morocco). During a period of tow, six and twelve months, we have taken 80 samples of wheat and maize from the underground pits and plastic bags. Results Shaw the corns were preserved better of underground pits than of plastic bag. The maize represents the highest losses rates in the level of underground and aboveground storage, a weight decrease of about 3,5% and 8,740/ were recorded during its conservation. Rates of insects attacks which are low or almost zero at the beginning of storage, easily reach 4,74% and 19% at the end of one year of storage. This work evaluates cereals weight losses due sects attack during storage in our area of study, and identifies the sources and the factors responsible for insects' infestation

Full textThese works deal with the computation of optimal motions for the humanoid robots. Most of the motion planning methods come from the motion planning of the manipulator robots. They rely on optimization algorithms which need a motion parametrization and a time-discretization of the constraints that define the physical limits of the robot. We show that a time-grid discretization is hazardous for the safety and the integrity of the robot. That is why, we propose a new method for the guaranteed discretization that computes the extrema of the constraints over time-interval that covers the whole motion duration. This method of discretization is time consuming. Thus, we developped a hybrid method that ensures the constraint validity within the same range of time of the state-of-the-art methods. With this method, we created a database of motions to follow a moving target. Consequently, we can generate an optimal motion that fits to the environment. However, there is no method which is fast enough to compute a new motion adapted to a new environment. Thus, we present a re-planning method that produces a new motion from a previous one. To do it, we compute, offline, a feasable sub-set around the motion that respects the constraint validity. The re-planning process consists in finding, in this sub-set, a new motion that is adapted to the new environment. We tested this re-planning method with a kicking motion where the position of the ball changes and we are able to find and adapted motion within 1. 5s of CPU-time
