Modern global trends show the preferred low-rise construction, even in large cities. Lightweight concrete is the most common material for low-rise construction. Existing lightweight concrete with the wood residues addition have several disadvantages due to the properties of the aggregate. In the southern regions of Russia, walnut grows in large quantities. Only a small part of the shell is processed, the rest is buried in the ground or burned. The proposed aggregate from crushed walnut shell has several advantages compared to the traditional natural organic fillers: low water demand and decay,

Introduction. Walnut (Juglans regia L.) is a medicinal plant containing a large number of biologically active substances. A number of authors propose to use walnut leaves as medicinal raw materials, in which juglone, flavonoids, tannins, ascorbic acid and other substances are identified. Currently, a standardization technique for this type of raw material has been developed and proposed. However, the medicinal plant walnut can be a source of other types of raw materials, such as milky-waxed walnuts, walnut bark, and walnut partitions. Abstract The corrosion of steels in power plants (coal combustion, waste incineration) is mainly due to condensed chlorides in the ash deposited on the boiler tubes. These chlorides are stabilized by HCl in the combustion gas. In the case of coal as a fuel, chlorine is present as chloride minerals in the raw material which is converted to HCl during the combustion process. Corrosion of steels in chlorine containing environments occurs by the ‘active oxidation’ mechanism, which is a self - sustaining accelerated oxidation process, catalysed by chlorine. This study shows that solid chlorides rea

Water lily (Eichhornia crassipes) has been identified as an invasive exotic plant with high proliferation in Mexico, affecting aquatic bodies, such as lakes. After extraction, the water hyacinth biomass can be used as raw material for the production of bioproducts and bioenergy, however, the majority of them not covered the region's needs, and their economic profitability decreases significantly. Also, few reports present its use as raw material inside a biorefinery scheme. In this work, we propose a local biorefinery scheme to produce power and bioproducts from water lilies, using Aspen Plus

In this work, we propose a Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP) model to determine the optimal sustainable design of a poly(hydroxyalkanoate)s (PHAs) production plant configuration and its heat exchanger network (HEN). The superstructure-based optimization model considers different carbon sources as raw material: glycerol (crude and purified), corn starch, cassava starch, sugarcane sucrose and sugarcane molasses. The PHA extraction section includes four alternatives: the use of enzymes, solvent, surfactant-NaOCl or surfactant-chelate. Model constraints include detailed capital cost for

Abstract:
In recent years there has been a growing concern over the performance of Israel and U.S. agricultural marketing organizations. In Israel, poor performance of some marketing institutions has led to radical reforms. Examples are the two leading export industries - citrus and flowers. In the U.S., growth of local market power is eliminating competitive row product prices which served as the basis for farmer cooperative payment plans. This research studies, theoretically, several aspects of the above problem and develops empirical methods to assess their relative importance. The theoretical part d

This master thesis explores the challenges for waste management business models in the field of textiles regarding the requirements of the circular economy, as well as improvement potentials in the current framework conditions. It is concerned with the research question: "Is it advisable to change the frame-work conditions at meso or macro level, with regard to business models for waste management companies in the textile sector that are oriented towards the requirements of the circular economy, and - if so - in what way?” The approach of the study is based on the delta analysis of the e Socie

Abstract:
This technical report details the testing plan, methodology, and results used to characterize the paste constituent materials for Charleroi Concrete Mixture 2. Raw materials were characterized for physical and chemical properties of interest including chemical composition, mineralogy, particle size, and absorption capacity. Isothermal calorimetry was used to study the reactivity of constituent materials, and rotational rheology was used to study the impact of various constituent materials on the expected workability and fluidity of the composite paste.

A great deal of energy can be sourced both directly and indirectly from waste. For example, municipal waste with an energy content of around 60 petajoules is incinerated in Switzerland every year. The energy recovered directly from this waste covers around 4 % of the Swiss energy demand. However, the greatest potential offered by waste management lies in the recovery of secondary raw materials during the recycling process, thus indirectly avoiding the energy-intensive production of primary raw materials. In order to optimise the contribution to the energy turnaround made by waste management, a

Abstract:
Life cycle assessment (LCA) is the predominant approach for evaluating the environmental impacts of asphalt pavement. A comprehensive LCA framework for assessing the environmental impacts of asphalt pavements in Saudi Arabia was defined. This model framework presents a clear approach for estimating the emissions generated from mix production in the cradle-to-gate state. Energy consumption and transport distance (i.e., the distance between raw material production facilities and asphalt plants) are two of the main factors that need to be considered in estimations of greenhouse gas (GHG) emission

Southern Ontario offers valuable insights into the supply chain dynamics of fish harvesting and processing across the Great Lakes region. This report analyzes the existing supply of raw materials produced by fish processing plants and evaluates the feasibility of integrating these resources into other markets. The synthesized report compiles and integrates information from various databases. The analysis examines the quantities and rhythms of fish components from Walleye and Yellow Perch. The findings reveal that combining components from the two species can mitigate supply volatility througho
