Full textLundbergs Plåt AB is a small company situated in Jönköping. Their main task is to process different kinds of steel such as stainless steel. Lately, they have shown an interest in Lean production.
On the basis of the situation mentioned above, we developed the purpose to find and decrease the non value-added wastes in the production at Lundbergs Plåt AB. Out of this, we also developed and answered two questions:
- Which wastes can be found with help from a value stream mapping (VSM)?
- In what way can these wastes be reduced and how can these reductions contribute to an improved production?
VSM is the method used to find the non value-added wastes. In the context of Lean production this is a reliable method because it shows in a good way the wastes in a manufacturing process. The VSM was performed on the family of food bin, which is one of the company’s more recurring products.
During the analysis of the value stream we found several wastes in the manufacturing process. All categories of non value-added wastes are represented. Examples of identified wastes are unnecessary transportation and working movement. The limited access to operators who have the right competence and who are allowed to process the food bins, is in our opinion one of the factors that generate most of the non value-added wastes.
Several action proposals were worked out and a conclusion is that one action proposal can generate a reduction of different kind of wastes. The action proposals that can reduce the most of the non value-added wastes are a change of the layout and competence building. This means that one action proposal can reduce or eliminate several wastes at the same time.
Lundbergs Plåt AB är ett mindre företag i Jönköping vars huvudsysselsättning är plåtbearbetning. På senare tid har ett intresse väckts för att undersöka vad Lean skulle kunna ge deras företag.
Utifrån ovanstående formulerades syftet att finna och minska de så kallade ”sju slöserierna + ett” som finns beskrivna inom Lean. Utifrån detta preciserades två frågeställningar:
- Vilka slöserier går att urskilja med hjälp av en värdeflödesanalys?
- På vilket sätt kan dessa slöserier minskas och bidra till en förbättrad produktion?
Metoden som användes i sökandet efter slöserierna är en värdeflödesanalys,som är en väl beprövad metod i Lean-sammanhang. Detta för att den på ett bra sätt för upp slöserierna i ett tillverkningsflöde till ytan.
Värdeflödesanalysen utfördes på produktfamiljen livsmedelsbehållare som är en av företagets mer frekventa produkter.
Under analysen av värdeflödet fann vi ett flertal slöserier i tillverkningsflödet. Samtliga kategorier av de ”sju slöserierna + ett” finns representerade. De största slöserierna är enligt vår bedömning de som uppkommer till följd av företagets begränsade tillgång på operatörer som kan och tillåts bearbeta behållarna. Andra identifierade slöserier är onödiga transporter och arbetsmoment som sker i tillverkningen.
Förbättringsförslagen arbetades fram utifrån syftet att minska och eliminera funna slöserier. De åtgärder som kan minska flest antal slöserier är layoutändring av produktion och flöde samt kompetensutveckling av personalen. Detta innebär att ett och samma åtgärdsförslag kan generera flera minskade eller eliminerade slöserier.

Full textOutokumpus Stainless AB is a global manufacturer of stainless steel. In Outokumpus steelwork in Avesta, the heat rolling unit has problems with the risk of personal injury when handling defective pieces of sheet metal after steckel rolling. This handling of defective sheets is currently manually executed by operators, where high-lift risks with defective plates have been given high risk points in Outokumpu's risk assessment.Outokumpu as a client wants to investigate the possibility of developing a conceptual proposal to reduce the risk of personal injury in handling defective sheet to be disposed of from the production line. The concept should also reduce the cycle time of the handling and be adapted to existing construction.This report presents a requirement specification and a selection of concepts evaluated based on requirements specification and soft criterias. After the evaluation, the concept with the best evaluation points has been worked on to set dimensions and analyze the concept.The result of the conceptual development became a concept that, with a beamwork, lifts the defective plate directly above the rolling path using four hydraulic cylinders. In the raised position, the plate is on the beamwork and is pushed off the rolling roller directly onto a bolster with a ruler driven by two hydraulic cylinders. The concept meets the requirements of the requirement specification and reduces the risk in Outokumpu's risk assessment.Keywords: Risk

The project is about to develop a product concept for a double-reel. Camatec Industriteknik AB is a consulting company and works in a close relationship with the company Camcoil Systems AB. Camcoil Systems AB manufactures single-reel’s, machines as used in the steel industry in handling thin sheet, strip steel. Camcoil Systems AB has expressed the desire to in the future be a double-reel manufacture. By this project Camcoil Systems AB wants to build a base to develop the produced concept. In order to develop a sustainable product concept there are four major categories in this project which are investigated; Market, technology, design and budget. Security is something that is also taken into consideration in the project. The design-process is applied in order to achieve the goal. A feasibility study is the basis for the entire project, where all these four main categories, scientific theories regarding to perception, colour theory, product development and design laws are treated. The produced concept is built upon a clean design in which the functions and the design are synchronized towards each other. In that way, they reinforce each other. There are also a sustainable technology and a good security. At the same time the costs are not too high. With the produced concept, there is a foundation which enables a further development for Camcoil Systems AB to be a potential entrant for the market in producing double-reels.

Full textProjektgruppen har genom ett samarbete med Plåtslageriernas Riksförbund identifierat de ergonomiska behov som finns inom takbranschen. Många takarbetare har förslitningsskador på grund av den dåliga arbetsställning de utsätts för varje dag. Detta är främst det oundvikliga knäståendet som krävs för att över huvudtaget nå de objekt som ska bearbetas.
Projektgruppen har därför tagit fram en helt ny typ av hjälpmedel som inte bara erbjuder en bättre arbetsmiljö utan även förenklar arbetet och spar tid. Projektgruppen upptäckte även att tidsbesparingen var av yttersta vikt för att en takarbetare ska vilja använda en ergonomiprodukt.
Resultatet av projektet är Expresser ES, en produkt som främjar ett längre aktivt arbetsliv för takarbetare. Projektgruppen har under sitt examensarbete på Utvecklingsingenjörsprogrammet vid Högskolan i Halmstad utvecklat något takbranschen länge behövt. Man är både stolt och nöjd över att ha lyckats ta projektet så långt som man gjort under en så kort tid.
The project group has together with Plåtslageriernas Riksförbund identified the need of ergonomical products in the roofing business. Many roofers have repetitive strain injuries due to the bad working posture they face in their everyday work. It is first and foremost the inevitable kneeling which is required to be able to reach the objects that is going to be processed.
That is why the project group has developed a new type of aid that not only offers a better working environment but also makes the work easier and saves time. The project group also discovered that the time saving is of great importance if the roofers are going to use an ergonomical product at all.
The result of this project is Expresser ES, a product that promotes a longer active working life for roofers. The project group has during their bachelor´s thesis at Utvecklingsingenjörsprogrammet at Högskolan i Halmstad developed something that the roofing business has been in need of for a long time. One is both proud and content with the extent of the project compared with the short time span it has been carried out within.
