This study predicts the behavior of welded plate panels (unstiffened plates) with different geometrical properties (slenderness ratio and aspect ratio) in order to address a rational structural design procedure, as these parameters are of great importance from a structural design perspective. Nonlinear finite element analysis has been used to simulate the butt-welding process of plate panels, giving the three-dimensional distribution of distortion and residual stresses induced by welding through the design of a moving heat source. The coefficients used in the equations were derived on the basis of curve fitting to a large number of computer solutions and are applicable to any buckle half wavelength or rotational restraint condition normally found in engineering structures. Abstract:
Robot integrated manufacturing has turned out to be the future of manufacturing automation technology. Worker assisting robots perform simultaneously operation including machining, assembly, inspection, material handling etc. and in some case multiple operations in the same system at a faster and precise rate. Collaborative robots are human and computer controlled hybrid material handling device which facilitates the concept of shared workspace. To exploit its function, gripper mechanisms are inevitable. This project focuses on the design of cobotic grippers for pick and place application. Of

A comprehensive nonlinear investigation is conducted on tapered plates having unsymmetrical geometry and subjected to five different in-plane compressive loads with the objective of reaching at simple design guidelines. The analyses considered both material and geometrical nonlinear behavior as well as post buckling of thin plates. Simply supported and clamped boundary conditions are considered herein to represent the upper and the lower bounds of most practical situations of tapered web plates in steel girders. The study covers plates with different tapering ratios as compared with the rectan

The Clutch Disk or plate is a part of the manual transmission system for your vehicle that delivers power from the engine to the transmission. It is mounted b/w the pressure plate & the flywheel. For high performance automobiles it is constructed from highly durable steel or sometimes other material. Performance of Vehicle Clutch plates on pad-to-disk interface touch conditions. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact on the friction & wear of Clutch Plate material from different material composition. If we use the composite material the cost instead of the traditional mate

Abstract:
The use of doubler plates or "doublers" has become routine for temporary ship repairs. It is the preferred method for ship structural repairs for plate corrosion due to its relative ease and low cost of installation over the more costly permanent welded plate insert repair. A lack of performance data and engineering design guidance are the reasons that repairs with doublers are currently considered only temporary. The objective of this study was to develop a set of guidelines for designing and applying doubler plate repairs to ship structures. The guidelines were established using the followin
