Talbot, Christine. "Directing Virtual Humans Using Play-Scripts and Spatio-Temporal Reasoning." Thesis, The University of North Carolina at Charlotte, 2018. http://pqdtopen.proquest.com/#viewpdf?dispub=10791242.

Full text
Abstract:

Historically, most virtual human character research focuses on realism/emotions, interaction with humans, and discourse. The majority of the spatial positioning of characters has focused on one-on-one conversations with humans or placing virtual characters side-by-side when talking. These rely on conversation space as the main driver (if any) for character placement.

Movies and games rely on motion capture (mocap) files and hard-coded functions to perform spatial movements. These require extensive technical knowledge just to have a character move from one place to another. Other methods involve the use of Behavior Markup Language (BML), a form of XML, which describes character behaviors. BML Realizers take this BML and perform the requested behavior(s) on the character(s). Also, there are waypoint and other spatial navigation schemes, but they primarily focus on traversals and not correct positioning. Each of these require a fair amount of low-level detail and knowledge to write, plus BML realizers are still in their early stages of development.

Theatre, movies, and television all utilize a form of play-scripts, which provide detailed information on what the actor must do spatially, and when for a particular scene (that is spatio-temporal direction). These involve annotations, in addition to the speech, which identify scene setups, character movements, and entrances /exits. Humans have the ability to take these play-scripts and easily perform a believable scene.

This research focuses on utilizing play-scripts to provide spatio-temporal direction to virtual characters within a scene. Because of the simplicity of creating a playscript, and our algorithms to interpret the scripts, we are able to provide a quick method of blocking scenes with virtual characters.

We focus on not only an all-virtual cast of characters, but also human-controlled characters intermixing with the virtual characters for the scene. The key here is that human-controlled characters introduce a dynamic spatial component that affects how the virtual characters should perform the scene to ensure continuity, cohesion, and inclusion with the human-controlled character.

The algorithms to accomplish the blocking of a scene from a standard play-script are the core research contribution. These techniques include some part of speech tagging, named entity recognition, a rules engine, and strategically designed force-directed graphs. With these methods, we are able to similarly map any play-script’s spatial positioning of characters to a human-performed version of the same playscript. Also, human-based evaluations indicate these methods provide a qualitatively good performance.

Potential applications include: a rehearsal tool for actors; a director tool to help create a play-script; a controller for virtual human characters in games or virtual environments; or a planning tool for positioning people in an industrial environment.

Taylor, Shanea. "DIRECTING AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL THEATRE." VCU Scholars Compass, 2009. http://scholarscompass.vcu.edu/etd/1935.

Full text
Abstract:
This is an exploration of the director's role in autobiographical theatre. The director is in a unique position when storytelling on a personal level is being executed theatrically. I explored this topic over the course of directing three plays, each of which contained a strong personal storytelling element, which broadened my perspective of the director's role. The three plays were Slashtipher Coleman’s The Neon Man and Me, Birth by Karen Brody, and Will Power to Youth Richmond presents: William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. Traditionally, the director’s role includes a myriad of tasks. These tasks can include and are not limited to creating pictures on stage that reflect the story being told, coaching actors in their craft specific to the production, vocal and movement coaching, viii creating a concept, interpreting and translating the action, and being the intermediary amongst the creative team in reaching the overall artistic vision. However, when the director is presented with personal stories to shape and mold, this role changes; no longer can the director wear a traditional hat and assume that the story will tell itself through a series of pictures, but now the director dons different hats and accesses other skills that more closely reflect those of mentor, spiritual leader, psychologist, teacher, and friend. This thesis is a narrative of the explorative process that one director experienced when staging these three prototypes of autobiographical theatre.

This thesis is a partial documentation of the process of preparing and rehearsing Temple University Theatre's 2015 production of Tom Stoppard's Arcadia, and the ways in which the process was artistically challenging and personally transformative. It is a demonstration of the manifold procedure of discovering action through language in the rehearsal process, the essential relationship of language to behavior in all collaborative practice and both the embrace of constructive conflict and the fundamental exercise of self-reflection as the primary catalysts for artistic development.

Barroso, de Oliveira Anderson. "The poetics of a transcultural adaptation in the process of directing the play Razor in the Flesh by Plinio Marcos (1967)." Diss., University of Pretoria, 2009. http://hdl.handle.net/2263/67780.

Full text
Abstract:
This study takes place in the investigation of two aspects. The first was the process of translation and adaptation of the play Razor in the Flesh (1967) by the Brazilian playwright Plinio Marcos to South African English and its respective context, followed by a free adaptation for the context of 2017 in Pretoria. The second aspect was a reflection of the staging process of the same play from the director's perspective in a transcultural environment. Regarding the translation process, I sought in Walter Benjamins theory of translation, a translational methodology that could extract the essence of the text, that is, translate, transfer the poetic power of the original work to the new language and to the new context. In parallel with Benjamin's translational theory, I sought in Pavis the understanding of the translational process of the theatrical text and the cultural shift of signs from the original work to the arrival context and the embodied performance. It was a process coordinated from the foreign directors perspective who seeks to give the conceptual references of his practical work through reflections and quotes from various theorists and theatre directors that served as a basis for research. It is a theoretical and reflexive accompaniment of the phases that made up the staging process of Razor in the Flesh (2017).

Abstract:
The present research looks upon an original methodology for rehearsal process called Theatre Playground. In it the actors are put in a creative environment (Playground), built in order to establish a playfulness state and through it find the relationships and right tune needed to the performance. From the study of practical examples, specific procedures on directing shows and conducting theatre groups are taken as possibilities for training theatre actors and directors. The main aim for this thesis is verify the resonance of a practical approach on techniques related to theatre games, mainly according to the vision of Phillippe Gaulier, Luke Dixon, Anne Bogart and Jacques Lecoq. Also getting deep on the foundations that will allow this game to happen, based mainly on Meyerhold, Barba, Grotowski, Stanislávski and Vakhtangov. And perceiving on which level a group of theatre work, organized under specific ludic and psychophysics premises, can soften the ruptures found in a rehearsal process, specially when the show needs to find the fixed forms and the impro has to give place to the final movements on stage

Abstract:
In order to establish the appropriateness of the western model of non-directive play therapy within the Kenyan context, the study explored the experiences of trained play therapists using the western model of non-directive play therapy in their therapeutic work with a Kenyan child. The study used qualitative methodology with thematic analysis where six trained non-directive play therapists with more than two years' practical experience participated. The participants comprised of five females and one male aged between 40 to mid-50 years were interviewed using semi-structured interviews while the interviews were tape recorded prior to their transcription. Data analysis was done using thematic analysis guidelines and the findings generated two main overarching themes stating that the Western model of Non-directive play therapy used in a therapeutic setting with a Kenyan child is in a large scale 'appropriate' (effective) while in some cases the same participants found the model 'inappropriate' (not effective) based on the Kenyan cultural beliefs and practices. Within the two main overarching themes, emanated seven candidate themes perceived by my participants to be indicators of the appropriateness of the western model of non- directive play therapy within the Kenyan context, in which the therapists' experiences revealed that in their therapeutic work with a Kenyan child using this model, the child developed a sense of 'empowerment'; 'freedom' and at the same time became 'expressive' through the use of play. Meanwhile the inappropriateness of western model of non - directive play therapy in the Kenyan context were mainly perceived to be caused by 'lack of awareness' of the model's existence and/or importance by most Kenyan communities, 'cultural barriers' particularly with regard to the use of 'play' and 'non- direction' in this model, Kenya's 'directive education system' as opposed to the western non-direction and 'social economic status' of most Kenyans leading to access issues were also experienced as contributors to the models in appropriateness within the Kenyan context.

Ponce, Gabriela. "Staging Crave, a play by Sarah Kane." OpenSIUC, 2012. https://opensiuc.lib.siu.edu/theses/1063.

Full text
Abstract:
Crave, the play I chose to direct as my thesis final project, constitutes a complex and crude portrait of our time, a moment in history marked by violence and individualism. These themes permeate the whole script, with its experimental and poetic style constitutes a challenge at the moment of staging it. This document is intended precisely to register the whole process of staging Crave. The first chapter presents the pre-production research, in which I trace the artistic trajectory of the author, British playwright Sarah Kane, in the context of experimental theater. I also analyze the play, and I present my directorial approach to it. In the second chapter I register the actual process of staging it; the methodologies I used in working with the actors and the designers, as well as the challenges I faced in applying them. Finally, the last chapter is a reflection upon the whole process, with the intention of evaluating my growth as a theater director through this project, which constitutes my final step in these training years at SIUC.

Jaeger, Jessica. "Experts in play : the development and use of play-based evaluation methods in facilitating children's views of non-directive play therapy." Thesis, University of York, 2010. http://etheses.whiterose.ac.uk/858/.

Full text
Abstract:
Aims: This study investigates the use of play-based evaluation methods, developed by the author, in non-directive play therapy practice. A review of the child therapy literature demonstrates that there has been limited development of child-centred methods to ascertain children's views. Whilst there has been development of appropriate methods for gathering children's views in other settings, these do not fully translate to the complex setting of therapeutic interactions. The study aims to record children's views of play therapy as expressed through play-based evaluations; explore their use as a new method and, finally, explore what conditions are needed to fully facilitate children's exploration and sharing of their views when using play-based evaluations. Methods: The study employs a qualitative methodology utilising video observation as a less intrusive method for data collection of the children's views that are expressed during play-based evaluation. The videos are analysed in two main ways: to record the children's views and to explore the process between therapist and child during the interaction. Pre- and post- questionnaires are used to gain information regarding the children in the study and the therapists' perceptions. Utilisation of computer-assisted software, visual methods of analysis and in-depth micro-analysis of video observation are combined to create an innovative and thorough methodological approach. Exciting new methods of visual representation are employed to present the findings in a way that respects the need for participant anonymity whilst allowing the reader greater access to the non-verbal processes described. Conclusions: The study shows that play-based evaluation techniques are important and flexible methods for facilitating children's views of child therapy. The study shows how therapists take different approaches to delivering the sessions. It is argued that those therapists who incorporate their therapeutic skills effectively, maintain flexibility and sensitively attune to the child during the session, enable the child to explore their views more fully.

Pykhtina, Olga. "Magic Land design and the use of interactive tabletops in non-directive play therapy with primary school children : to play or not to play?" Thesis, University of Newcastle upon Tyne, 2015. http://hdl.handle.net/10443/2868.

Full text
Abstract:
This research considers the role and design of digital technologies in play therapy settings with young children. Through an aggregation of academic and practitioner literature, and the results of focus group and individual interviews with therapists and counsellors, a set of design requirements for digital technologies that support non-directive play within a play therapy context is proposed. The study explores how these complex requirements could support non-directive play therapy principles through the development and evaluation of Magic Land, a set of four play therapy applications for an interactive tabletop. On the basis of the qualitative research evidence, it is suggested that the design guidelines should be deeply rooted in the theoretical foundations of non-directive play therapy and reflect a number of psychoanalytic and child social development theories. The concepts developed in two opposing schools of thought by Piaget and Vygotsky are used to guide the design and map the research findings. Taking into account the children’s interest in technology, the therapists’ skills, the affordances of the technology and the design guidelines aligned with the core theories of play therapy, it was found that the Magic Land application on an interactive tabletop could support such non-directive play therapy principles as the development of a trusting therapeutic relationship, a child’s creative expression and the gradual nature of the therapeutic process. It created opportunities for children to practise exercising a feeling of mastery and taking the initiative, as well as allowing for joyful and non-goal oriented free play.

Currin, Lisa Natalie. "A journey with an abused child : a non-directive play therapy perspective." Thesis, Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, 2006. http://hdl.handle.net/10948/434.

Full text
Abstract:
The extensive amount of research conducted in the field of family violence internationally indicates that child abuse has a detrimental effect on both the physical and emotional development of children as well as having a profound effect on an individual’s psychological development and functioning in adult life. The aim of this research study was to describe the therapeutic process that unfolded with a seven year old allegedly abused female client within the framework of non-directive play therapy. The case was further contextualised utilising Erik Erikson’s theory of psychosocial development. This study served to broaden the body of psychotherapeutic knowledge by means of meaningful qualitative enquiry. The client was referred for therapy because of severe emotional and behavioural problems following the alleged sexual abuse. The client was seen over a period of eight months and this included 11 sessions of non-directive play therapy, three parent interviews and psychometric assessments conducted by a colleague. The case study method was utilised in this study. To achieve the aim of the research, the methodology of choice was the descriptive dialogic case study. A purposive sampling technique was used in the selection of the research subject for this study. The data collection and analysis were conducted according to Yin’s (1994) analytical generalisation, which consists of two main strategies: (a) using a theoretical framework as a guide to determine what data is relevant; and (b) developing a matrix as a descriptive framework for organising and integrating the data. Furthermore, the process of data analysis was aided by the use of guidelines proposed by Irving Alexander (1988) with Axline’s non-directive play therapy and Erikson’s theory of psychosocial development as the theoretical frameworks. The findings of this study suggest that plotting the play therapy sessions according to the framework of the four stages of play therapy was a particularly useful tool to monitor Michelle’s progression through the therapeutic process. This can be seen as a valuable application of a tool which can be used within the non-directive play therapy approach. Contextualising Michelle’s development according to the stages of Erikson’s theory of psychosocial development was also found to be a valuable endeavour. According to her chronological age, Michelle should have been in the fourth stage of industry versus inferiority, but in reality Michelle was still struggling to strike a healthy balance between the terms of conflict of trust versus mistrust issues of the first stage. From a therapeutic point, this was an important exercise as it helped to inform the therapist and consequently, the therapeutic process. This research undertaking can be recognised as a positive demonstration of the value of non-directive play therapy (Virginia Axline) and Erik Erikson’s theory of psychosocial development in the therapeutic process. In addition, this study has served to facilitate a more holistic understanding of the case study approach to research. Recommendations regarding future research undertakings that utilise the case study approach and methodology have been made. Key concepts: child abuse; family violence; non-directive play therapy; Erik Erikson’s theory of psychosocial development; analytical generalisation; case study research.

Abstract:
This study explores the experiences of play therapists practicing in the coastal region of Kenya. The study adopted a qualitative approach using descriptive phenomenological method. Six respondents with a practical experience of at least three years participated in the study with the use of semi-structured interviews. The data was analysed using Giorgi's (1985) method of analysis because of its descriptive nature. Informed consent, confidentiality and non-maleficence ensured the overall wellness of the study participants' wellness. Anonymity and confidentiality safeguarded their data. The findings established that therapists in the region lack confidence to practice non-directive play therapy. It also established that retrogressive culture and lack of professional support were the major contributors to the lack of confidence among the therapists. The study recommends that therapists in the region enhance professional development. Chapters 5 and 6 discuss limitations of the study and areas for further research. In chapter 5, there is an in-depth reflexive statement on my personal learning and growth. Workshops and conference presentations will be the means to disseminate the findings as a contribution to the enhancement of play therapy.

Full text
Abstract:
The ability to recognise the movements made by humans and other animals, referred to as biological motion, is a specialised human ability that develops at an early age. This perceptual ability is strong even for the minimal amount of information contained in a point-light display, which has been used to study specific features of biological motion to find out what properties contribute to this ability. The perception of biological motion depends on visual perception, visual attention and motor cognition, and perception depends both on the global form, configural information and local information of a body in motion. Depending on the situation, either global or local motions will be more salient and processed to a greater extent by the perceptual system. Previous research has shown that the local and configural information contained in the feet play an important role for identification, direction discrimination and the inversion effect. The salience of the feet for perception has previously been studied when they are subjected to focused attention, but not reflexive attention. The goal of this study was to investigate if the local and configural information of the feet can trigger reflexive attention and be incidentally processed by the visual system in a direction discrimination task. To test this experimentally, a masking paradigm was used where the feet were placed in a mask consisting of scrambled walkers. The results show that the feet affect recognition of target direction when the target is upright, but not when inverted. An interesting and unexpected finding was that for upright targets, the feet aid recognition when they move in the opposite direction of the target. Due to the experimental setup, it is difficult to say with certainty what the results imply, and suggestions for a follow-up study are presented.

Full text
Abstract:
The application of sociobiology to humans, a field to which I shall refer here as human sociobiology, gained recognition in the mid 1970s in Edward O. Wilson’s 1975 Sociobiology: The New Synthesis (ch 26). Ever since this book was published, a great debate, often acrimonious (e.g. Sahlins 1976), has flared over the academic and often even moral legitimacy of some of the propositions of human sociobiology (e.g. Kitcher 1985). The study of incest avoidance is considered by some of its sympathetic observers as a major success of human sociobiology, a success which demonstrates the power of human sociobiological method and propositions (Ruse 1982, ch. 11 ; Wilson 1983; Dawkins 1989, 293-294). Less sympathetic observers of human sociobiology are critical of both the evidence and the propositions put forth by human sociobiologists (e.g. Leavitt 1990). In this thesis I will try to avoid the general debate over human sociobiology and its acrimony. I will attempt a dispassionate assessment of the suggestions and propositions advanced by human sociobiologists concerning incest avoidance, and draw implications for future directions of anthropological research into human incestuous behaviour.

Abstract:

The work done on this project has combined the knowledge I have accumulated from nearly all of the classes and learning opportunities I have experienced over the course of college. The first semester's work consisted of a long literary analysis of Three Days in comparison to three other plays contemporary with it. This resulted in “Looking Behind Us As We Leap Ahead.” In the paper, I compared the use of time in Three Days of Rain, Sideman by Warren Leight, Angels in America, Part One: Millennium Approaches by Tony Kushner, and Sight Unseen, by Donald Margulies. All of these plays were written by American playwrights in the last decade of the twentieth century. The initial connection between the four plays was the fluidity of time, an element of dramatic structure that creates abstractions and skewed perception within the play. However, after studying the plays in conjunction with each other, I was struck by just how much the concept of time can affect a play not only in its form, but also in its content. Issues related to history, preservation, and planning for the future ran through all four of the plays, as it became obvious that time was of the utmost importance in the theater of the 1990s. The same proved to be true in the production of theater in 2004. The rest of the thesis was devoted to the production of Three Days of Rain, directed by me and produced by the Contemporary Theater in the Bonn Studio in March 2004. I kept journal entries throughout the process of creating this thesis, which aided in the final written part of the thesis, “One Year of Rain: Memoirs of a Director.” This section, while more personal in nature than the first academic writing, also deals with issues of time, as it documents the trials and successes of this production, as well as the personal growth of the author and director over the course of the project. The additional information supplied is evidence of dramaturgical research related to the production. Outside sources filled in the information about the world of the play that the text was missing. The combination of the support of this research and the production of the play allowed the ultimate goal of the director to be realized: To bring the play to life, and to bring real life to the play

Abstract:
When we teach a foreign language or in this case, French, in a class, we have to be aware of the different skills like communication, writing and reading whereas this study puts emphasis on the communicative skill. This skill can be more abstract than the rest of the skills since it consists of dialogues and discourses which don’t necessarily need to be written on a document. In this study we will try to reveal some applicable methods used by teachers to teach and improve students’ communicative skills at an upper secondary school in Sweden. The study also tries to find out how these teachers evaluate and grade this particular skill according to the syllabus and in what frequency the syllabus is used by the teachers as a tool in their teaching. The method used is a phenomenological study with a questionnaire consisting of qualitative questions in order to receive more accurate answers. Four teachers at an upper secondary school have been interviewed and the empirical data collected have been evaluated together with the theory chosen. The theory used in this study is a mixture of approaches for teaching a foreign language in schools. We have chosen approaches like code-switching, task-based learning, the communicative approach and a basic methodology of how to plan and evaluate the activities chosen. Lastly, we have been looking at the commentary section on the syllabus for foreign languages on stage 3 made by Skolverket (2011) in order to easier interpret the grading criteria in the syllabus. Briefly, the results showed that it is better to create smaller groups when teaching the communicative skill and that the advantageous tasks can consist of images to describe and genuine and adequate questions which concern the student’s personal life. This can generate that the students talk and express their thoughts more freely than with activities in larger groups and with display questions.

Walking is one of the most usual action that humans perform in everyday life. Curved walking is a fundamental motor synergy that allows humans to move efficiently in space maintaining security. The purpose of this work is to investigate curved walking to identify locomotor invariant not only to enhance our understanding of human motion in a biomechanical and neuroscientific point of view but also to provide a model for the generation of realistic trajectories in computer graphics and humanoid robotics. The proposed approach considers human walking in the curvature-velocity space. Firstly, we develop a discrete method to define a turn based on the relation between mean curvature and mean velocity for each step of a subject, comparing these parameters with those of straight forward walking. Secondly, we seek for power law relations between curvature and velocity in one single turn. We demonstrate that such an inter-individual relation exists at the maximal curvature. Finally, we take interest in the complex situation of collision avoidance between two subjects to identify locomotor strategies. These strategies depend on the order of subjects crossing

The adult incontinence market in China has been considered as one of the fastest-growing market, given the growing aging population and rising income spending. However, despite the boom in registered incontinence brands, the market has a low penetration of only four percent, of which only one-fifth of the products is designed for lighter incontinence leakage, a problem thirty percent of women struggled postpartum and many more who enjoy an active lifestyle. Unavailability of such products led consumers to seek inappropriate alternatives and worsen their condition physically and emotionally. There is a need for research to understand this group of consumers and their attitudes toward this issue. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to identify various strategies to increase customer awareness and demand. Moreover, this paper presents a business plan based on factors that influence consumer's buying behavior, the competitive advantage of DTC business model, and potential marketing and sourcing strategies. The vision of the startup is to normalize the seeking of solutions for the consumers and, in return to steer the industry back on the right track.

Abstract:
Both as a student of theatre and, eventually, as a professional practitioner, it has long been apparent to me that there is a dearth of reference material on what has become one of the modern theatre’s most important elements: the pause. Actors, directors and playwrights can only interpret the word ‘pause’ according to their own experience and its meaning remains nebulous, even after agreement has been reached in a specific context. The essay, Mind The Gap, examines the significance of the pause to these various practitioners. It suggests, with examples, close analysis of the purpose of each pause, differentiation of the terms used to denote them and interrogation of various well-known playwrights’ intentions with its use. Mind The Gap is offered as an initial investigation on which to base further, more detailed research from which students and professionals can reach agreement to find a common language to describe and define the unspoken. In Shadows, the major creative work, I use the form of the English burlesque to satirise the increasing influence that television is having on modern family life. I have experimented with filling the pauses in one narrative, the life of the Agnew family, with a second narrative, the television programme, Secret White Women’s Business. Bank Accounts, the minor work, is another experiment where several brief histories are embedded in a common narrative set in a commonplace environment. The pauses central to Bank Accounts are filled with the unspoken relationships between strangers. Both plays are intended to present women as equal players in the game of life rather than as victims of male chauvinism.

The golf industry in South Korea has been flourishing and has maintained high profitability. However, the South Korean market is not adequately prepared for the increasingly globalized world economy and resulting changes in the business environment. There is a need for research to guide the Korean golf industry based on long-term projections of the Korean economy and future market trends. An increasing number of golf customers are traveling abroad to enjoy high quality golf services at more affordable prices. Golf courses in China and Southeast Asia are actively attracting golf tourists by promoting their competitive pricing. The Korean golf industry must identify and promote its competitive advantages to survive in this increasingly competitive environment. The main purpose of this study is to identify various strategies to increase customer demand for Korean golf courses. This paper also illustrates the correlation between economic trends and the golf industry in South Korea. Moreover, a business plan based on the factors that determine the choice of golf clubs, the competitive advantages of South Korean golf clubs, and potential marketing strategies indicate future directions for the Korean golf industry.

Abstract:
Or, nos résultats confirment ceux d'autres études, i.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The California State Legislature passed Assembly Bill 97 in June 2013 and Governor Brown signed it into law on July 1, 2013. The legislation created the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) and the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). The LCFF changed the way that school districts in California receive education funding from the state, shifting from a complex categorical program towards a per-pupil based formula. Furthermore, school districts receive “supplemental” and “concentration” funds based on the number of English learners, low-income students and foster youth in the district. The LCAP is a key component of this new funding system and requires that school districts create an accountability document showing how they intend to allocate funds and how they propose to track student outcomes. The 2014-15 academic year was the first full-year of policy implementation, and this thesis investigates how districts around the state created their LCAP. Drawing from research reports, press coverage, and a case study of Claremont Unified School District, this investigation finds that the LCAP has the potential to make the California public education system more equitable and adequate.

Abstract:
The study of Patrick Kermann's work makes it possible to draw up the contours of a drama in which the words of the dead endanger the mimesis and become a real wager on absence. The different voices give presence to the departed, forming the framework of the drama through very condensed, intermittent and heterogeneous sound material. The rhythmic composition opens up on a polyphony of voices which produces a desperate appeal from the dead who have found no place among the living. A first part deals with the dramatic effects of what follows, when those who disappeared come back to relate their intimate disaster and the barbarity of the world. A second part moves the analysis to the angle of sonorous dramatic art and examines the way in which the textual score causes the language to resound, privileging auditory reception, which is not without questioning the reader's position and, perhaps, even more, that of the spectator. Thus it is that these abandoned voices meet producers who greet them with offers of unexpected areas intended to be an answer to the confusion resulting from listening to absent bodies

Abstract:
The purpose of this culminating project is to start translating quality Mexican and Latin American dramatic literature in order to provide to educators and theatrical directors a fundamental collection of plays. The author worked with her San Gorgonio High School students to conduct a dramaturgical study of the setting and political background of Rojo Amanecer by Xavier Robles, a play which outlines the events leading to the 1968 student massacre at Mexico City's Plaza de Tlatelolco. The author then directed the play in her role as San Gorgonio High School's new theater teacher.

Abstract:
When future becomes full of uncertainty and when career plans in firms are frozen, professionnal socialization takes direct part in the construction of anticipation practices. These depend on "labelling processes" and take place in a "reflexive control" of the labelling. The forms of anticipation which result from theses processes change with organizational context : they might stem from organizational learning of anticipation, or, on the contrairy, from inherited practices, that is to say from biographic resources, which play a growing part in the new ways of human resources administration

Abstract:
Under the influence of the successive reforms in which he was faced, the public sector knew several strategic and organizational changes. However ambitious they are, these reforms were not able to reach their goals without an active participation on of the civil actors, the place that occupies the intermediate frames in the setting-up of the change compulsory for the public sector within the framework of these reforms is essential, the implementation of the public reforms requires from them a double role of experts and managers whom only a successful Human Resources Management can guarantee. This thesis suggests analyzing the participation of the intermediate frames in the implementation of the public reforms under the angle of the role of the public Human Resources Management and in the era of the new public management, the case of the Plan Green Morocco as ground of study. Which public reforms in Morocco, which expectations of the intermediate frames and which Human Resources Management to accompany effectively these reforms, such are main axes all around of which articulates this study

Abstract:
The European Water Framework Directive (WFD; 2000/60/EC) was incorporated into the Swedish legislation in 2004 through the ordinance Förordningen om förvaltningenav kvaliteten på vattenmiljön (SFS 2004:660). The objective is that all water bodies shall reach a good status by the year 2015. In Sweden the comprehensive plans of the municipalities can play a large role in reaching these goals. A comprehensive plan deals with the long term water and land use of the municipality, which can facilitate an early consideration of water management in the planning process of the municipality. In Sweden five river basin districts have been established in accordance with the Water Framework Directive. The focus of this study is on the Northern Baltic Sea river basin district. Action strategies have been created for each river basin district, dictating what measures the authorities, among them the municipalities, need to take. The purpose with this study is to find out to what extent the municipalities have taken the action strategies regarding the Northern Baltic Sea river basin and the water quality standards set in Förordningen om förvaltningen av kvaliteten på vattenmiljön (SFS 2004:660) into account when working with their comprehensive plans. The study also sheds light on the municipalities’ view on the demands made on them and what actions can facilitate the working process. The study was made in three parts; a survey, literature studies and interviews. An overall study of all the municipalities in the county of Stockholm was made and three were selected for an in-depth study. The results of the study show that the demands on the municipalities have not been met due to lack of knowledge. The municipalities are aware of the existence of the Water Framework Directive but find it hard to interpret the environmental quality standards and the action strategies. The municipalities wish for a clearer legal definition of the environmental quality standards and a better definition of how the implementation of the action strategies can be made. The municipalities are asking for a clarification of the demands they can make on other organizations and of the demands made on them by the county boards and the River Basin District Authorities.
