Abstract:
Grunts (family Haemulidae) are among the most commercially important fish in Bangladesh. This paper provides brief diagnostic characters of five previously reported grunt species: Plectorhinchus pictus (Thunberg, 1792); Pomadasys andamanensis McKay et Satapoomin, 1994; Pomadasys argenteus (Forsskål, 1775); Pomadasys argyreus (Valenciennes, 1833); Pomadasys maculatus (Bloch, 1793) and two new distributional records: Pomadasys guoraca (Cuvier, 1829) and Plectorhinchus macrospilus Satapoomin et Randall, 2000. The fishes were collected from the Saint Martin’s Island coral reef-like ecosystem and t

The Tanjung Luar fish market is a place to find catches as well as a place to market them. There are various fish species including demersal fish species at the Tanjung Luar Fish Market, East Lombok District. The research was conducted in October 2022 with research method used is a survey and documentation method. Based on the results of the study, 25 species of demersal fish were found that belong to 12 families, namely Acanthurus lineatus, Heniochus singularius, Platax boersii, Plectorhinchus polytaenia, Plectorhinchus vittatus, Diagramma pictum, Choerodon anchorago, Cheilinus chlorourus, Pa

Abstract Harry hotlips (Plectorhinchus gibbosus), belonging to the fish family Haeumulidae, is recorded for the first time off the Iranian coast of the Oman Sea, Chabahar Bay (25°18′N, 60°37′E). Identification confirmed by comparing morphological data of the collected specimen with data of reported congener species off this area.

Abstract:
Seasonal aggregations at specific sites are common among some fish species. Experienced fishermen know where and when these aggregations happen, often targeting these spawning sites to increase their catch. This strategy can further contribute to endangering the survival of these species, especially for those already threatened by other forms of pressure. This study contributes knowledge to the spawning aggregation of fish in the north of Mozambique following survey work conducted around Cabo Delgado Province in six coastal villages in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Abstract:
Adult specimens of the Sordid Thicklip, Plectorhinchus sordidus, the Olive Grunt, Pomadasys olivaceus, and the Lined Grunt, Pomadasys punctulatus, were captured by gillnet off the coast of Fao City, Basrah, Iraq in March 2012 by commercial fishery activities using a small trawler. These are new records for the marine waters of Iraq, and, for the latter two species, new records for the entire Arabian Gulf region. We document the appearance and morphometrics of the specimens from Iraq.

Abstract:
The subfamily Plectorhinchinae (sweetlips) is composed of poorly-known species with high commercially and ecologically values that exhibit phenotypic plasticity and various morphologies. Few studies have assessed the validity of sweetlips, intergeneric relationships and evolutionary survey in this subfamily, which have not yet been resolved. This study investigated the DNA sequences of (1) the mitochondrial COI gene to delimit species, and (2) two mitochondrial (COI and Cyt b), and one nuclear (RAG1) markers to infer phylogenetic relationships and evolutionary and biogeographic history.
