Abstract:
My point of departure for this thesis is Jacques Derrida's article 'Structure, Sign, and Play in the Discourse of the Human Sciences', which argues that structure exists as a concept that has both come to represent a concept of construction, but is also something that is itself constructed. I consider 'plot' under this same premise - as a term that has come to represent a notion of structure, but is also something that is in turn structured through a diversity of discourses. This thesis does not look to define what plot is, but rather considers a variety of constructions of plot that exist wit

<p>This thesis is focused on the improvement of an existing implementation of a waveform visualizer. The problem area handled in this work has its focus on how to reduce the number of points to be plotted. The given waveform visualizer was extended by the use of two additional algorithms. First, a Level Of Detail (LOD) algorithm that gives the subset of points that are necessary to plot the waveform in the current zoom level. Second, a straight line identification algorithm to find a series of points aligned in a straight line, only leaving the end points and then drawing a line between them.

I have developed models of these two processes and used the distribution of albedo on the surfaces of these two bodies to study surface temperatures, distribution of volatile ices, and lower atmospheric structure. My initial studies focused on Triton, which was encountered by Voyager 2 in 1989. One of the surprising results is that Triton's South Polar Cap is considerably larger than predicted by my model. James conveys the Other Plot by means of code, the primary signifiers of which are references to the well-established homosexual subcultures of London and Paris. Shame might suggest a catastrophic aftereffect of the failure of women's initial investment of the love plot; however, I argue that shame functions in place of the love plot and helps to provide a critique of the oppressive and patriarchal nature of conventional romance.
