Abstract:
ABSTRACT A massless particle can be naturally captured by a celestial body with the aid of a third body. In this work, the influence of the mass ratio on ballistic capture is investigated in the planar circular restricted three-body problem (CR3BP) model. Four typical dynamical environments with decreasing mass ratios, that is, the Pluto–Charon, Earth–Moon, Sun–Jupiter, and Saturn–Titan systems, are considered. A generalized method is introduced to derive ballistic capture orbits by starting from a set of initial conditions and integrating backward in time. Particular attention is paid to the backward escape orbits, following which a test particle can be temporarily trapped by a three-body gravity system, although the particle will eventually deviate away from the system. This approach is applied to the four candidate systems with a series of Jacobi constant levels to survey and compare the capture probability (quantitatively) and capture capability (qualitatively) when the mass ratio varies. Capture mechanisms inducing favourable ballistic capture are discussed. Moreover, the possibility and stability of capture by secondary celestial bodies are analysed. The obtained results may be useful in explaining the capture phenomena of minor bodies or in designing mission trajectories for interplanetary probes.

AbstractThis paper presents my own recollections of the difficult relations that existed between the IAU and a fraction of the public, especially in the USA, following the IAU decision to reclassify Pluto as a dwarf planet at the 2006 General Assembly in Prague, and which ultimately led the IAU to organize the NameExoWorlds international contest to give public names to selected exoplanets and their host stars. In spite of the success of the International Year of Astronomy in 2009, the Pluto controversy continued, and its consequences climaxed during my term (2012-2015), as NASA’s New Horizons probe approached Pluto for a flyby just before the 2015 General Assembly in Honolulu. It was during this period that the IAU launched the NameExoWorlds contest, which also came to a conclusion in Honolulu after over half a million votes were cast from all over the world. While the inside story of how the contest was organized has appeared elsewhere, here I focus on the historical and sociological context that made Pluto such a sensitive issue, especially in the USA, explaining why this contest generated another controversy between the IAU and the New Horizons team. However, after the world-wide success of NameExoWorlds, the IAU and the New Horizons team eventually reached an agreement on finalizing the characterization and names of a number of newly discovered Pluto and Charon surface features (an on-going process), while a new edition of NameExoWorlds is in preparation for the IAU centennial in 2019.

ABSTRACT Melissococcus pluton is the causative agent of European foulbrood, a disease of honeybee larvae. This bacterium is particularly difficult to isolate because of its stringent growth requirements and competition from other bacteria. PCR was used selectively to amplify specific rRNA gene sequences of M. pluton from pure culture, from crude cell lysates, and directly from infected bee larvae. The PCR primers were designed from M. pluton 16S rRNA sequence data. The PCR products were visualized by agarose gel electrophoresis and confirmed as originating from M. plutonby sequencing in both directions. Detection was highly specific, and the probes did not hybridize with DNA from other bacterial species tested. This method enabled the rapid and specific detection and identification of M. pluton from pure cultures and infected bee larvae.

Plato’s Republic suggests that everyone is better off being just than unjust, yet scholars have disputed whether Plato actually proves it. It is especially unclear whether the Republic shows that non-philosophers are better off being just. I argue that, despite appearances to the contrary, Plato knowingly offers no convincing proof of this, though it is reasonable to infer from the text that Plato genuinely believes it. Thus, the Republic comes to light as a complex piece of protreptic rhetoric: offering an exhortation (‘Be just!’) while withholding the rational basis for that exhortation – thus provoking philosophic inquiry rather than concluding it.

The aim of my article is the analysis of the selected letters attributed to Plato to answer the question: what conception of Plato as a person can a reader create after reading his correspondence. The philosopher proves himself as a faithful friend, judicious advisor and mentor, who is willing to serve his help to everyone who wants to listen and follow his hints. Although Plato realizes his position and significance in a Greek world, in his Letters there is a note of bitterness and disappointment because of his unfulfilled political ambitions and disappointed hopes. Plato also shows his feelings of regret caused by the loss of his two friends, Socrates and Dion. The form and style of Plato’s letters are as interesting as the content. The author repeatedly writes down his thoughts in so realistic and vivid way as he would have a lively dialogue with his fictional interlocutor. In his Letters Plato uses willingly dramatic elements to depict the referred events in form of the scenes taking place, as it were before the reader’s eyes.

To the best of my knowledge the soundness of the first six words of this sentence (Οὐκο⋯ν…μετιέναι) has never been questioned, yet to accept them as they are in the manuscripts means to close one's eyes to the direction of the argument.At 260d5–9 rhetoric personified and allowed to plead its case makes the ‘big’ statement that anyone learning how to speak would do well to know the truth about his subject but that even if he knows it he would not be able ἄνεν ⋯μο⋯, i.e. without the aid of rhetoric, πείθειν τέχνῃ. From that point on the issues are whether rhetoric justly claims to be a τέχνῃ, what territory it covers and how the procedure of someone practising it τέχνῃ may differ from that of one for whom it is an ἄτεχνος τριβή (see 260e3–5). Rumah Sakit merupakan sarana kesehatan yang menyelenggarakan kegiatan pelayanan kesehatan serta dapat dimanfaatkan untuk pendidikan tenaga kesehatan dan penelitian. Peralatan makan adalah salah satu faktor yang memegang peranan di dalam menularkan penyakit, sebab alat makan yang tidak bersih dan mengandung mikroorganisme dapat menularkan penyakit lewat makanan, sehingga proses pencucian alat makan sangat berarti dalam membuang sisa makanan dari peralatan yang membantu pertumbuhan mikroorganisme dan melepaskan mikroorganisme yang hidup. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keberadaan Escherechia coli dengan menggunakan metode usap pada alat makan di Rumah Sakit Umum Andi Makkasau Kota Parepare. Jenis penelitian ini menggunakan survey yang bersifat deskriptif dengan analisa laboratorium untuk mengetahui Escherichia coli yang terdapat pada peralatan makan yang digunakan di Rumah Sakit Umum Andi Makkasau Kota Parepare. Sampel dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 4 alat makan (Plato). Data dianalisa secara deskriptif dengan menggunakan tabel manual dan diuraikan dalam bentuk narasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peralatan makan pada Plato A di peroleh jumlah E.coli sebanyak 30 koloni/cm², Plato B sebanyak 11 koloni/cm², Plato C sebanyak 70 koloni/cm², dan Plato D sebanyak 120 koloni/cm. Peralatan makan tersebut positif mengandung Escherichia Coli dan termaksud dalam kategori tidak memenuhi syarat sesuai dengan peraturan yang telah dibuat dalam bentuk Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan RI No.1096/Menkes/SK/VI/2011, bahwa untuk persyaratan higiene sanitasi jasa boga, angka kuman pada peralatan makan 0 (nol)

Pemisahan unsur radioaktif dan logam tanah jarang yang dilakukan di PLUTHO menghasilkan limbah yang masih mengandung torium dan uranium. Limbah yang dihasilkan memerlukan pengolahan lanjutan agar ramah lingkungan. Tujuan penelitian adalah menurunkan kadar torium dan radioaktivitas dalam limbah cair proses pengolahan monasit pilot plant PLUTHO menggunakan koagulan fero sulfat. Pilot Plant PLUTHO merupakan suatu fasilitas yang didirikan untuk untuk memisahkan uranium, torium, dan logam tanah jarang (LTJ) dari mineral monasit dan mineral lainnya dalam skala pilot. Perlakuan variasi yang dilakukan pada penelitian adalah dosis koagulan dan pH. Pengukuran kadar torium dilakukan dengan metode Spektrofotometer UV-Vis, sedangkan pengukuran radioaktivitas dilakukan dengan alat ukur radiasi Ludlum Model 1000 Scaler. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kondisi optimum koagulasi pada pH 8,0 dengan dosis koagulan FeSO4 225 mg/L yang dapat menurunkan kadar torium sebesar 45,20 % dan menurunkan radioaktivitas sebesar 100 % dari kadar torium dan radioaktivitas awal yaitu 0,73 mg/L dan 1,35 Bq/g. The separation of radioactive and rare earth mineral carried out in PLUTHO produces waste that still contains thorium and uranium. The resulting waste requires further processing to be environmentally friendly. The purpose of study is to reduce thorium content and radioactivity in liquid waste of PLUTHO monazite treatment process using ferro sulphate coagulant. PLUTHO Pilot Plant is one of facility that built to dissociate uranium, thorium and light rare earth from mineral of monazite. Variations of treatments applied in the research are coagulant dosage and pH. Thorium content is measured by Spectrophotometer UV-Vis method, whereas radioactivity is measured by radiation counting meter Ludlum Model 1000 Scaler. The result shows that the optimum condition of coagulation is in pH 8,0 with concentration of ferro sulphate 225 mg/L which may reduce thorium content up to 45,20 % and reduce radioactivity to 100 % out of its initial thorium content and radioactivity as much as 0,73 mg/L and 1,35 Bq/g, respectively.

DE ENSINO<br>Se ainda hoje permanece a dúvida a respeito da possibilidade de se encontrar, na filosofia grega, um conceito que possa corresponder ao conceito latino de vontade, ninguém parece questionar o fato de que foram os gregos os primeiros filósofos a tentar compreender o fenômeno que hoje chamamos de fraqueza da vontade – e que eles chamavam simplesmente akrasia. Embora o primeiro filósofo que tenha empregado tal termo ao discutir o problema tenha sido Aristóteles (EN VII.1), a primeira discussão filosófica acerca da akrasia pode ser encontrada no Protágoras de Platão. Lá, o fenômeno que é discutido recebe o nome de ser vencido pelos prazeres. Como sabemos, Sócrates nega que tal fenômeno seja possível e afirma o famoso paradoxo Socrático segundo o qual ninguém erra voluntariamente. Nosso trabalho tem por objetivo principal traçar uma comparação entre o problema da akrasia nas filosofias de Platão e de Aristóteles, para que possamos compreender melhor algo que até hoje é motivo de grandes controversas, a saber, em que media Aristóteles se afasta da explicação socrática da akrasía e em que sentido ele a aceita. Para tal, procuramos esclarecer não somente as diferenças notáveis entre os dois autores no que diz respeito à descrição da akrasia mas também à maneira como cada um dos autores concebem o ato voluntário. Além disso, dedicamos nossa introdução à discussão de duas peças de Eurípides, Hipólito e Medéia, com o objetivo de iluminar isso que poderíamos chamar, talvez, de raízes pré-filosóficas do problema.<br>Although to this day some doubt remains about whether we can find, in Greek philosophy, a concept that corresponds to the latin notion of the will, nobody seems to question the fact that the greek philosophers were the first to try to understand the phenomenon which today we call weakness of the will – and that they called akrasia. Although the first philosopher employed this term when discussing the problem was Aristotle (EN VII.1), the first philosophical discussion about akrasia is to be found in Plato’s Protagoras. In this dialogue, the phenomenon that is discussed is called being defeated by pleasures. As we know, Socrates denies that such a thing is even possible and affirms his famous paradox according to which nobody errs willingly. This works main goal is to compare the problem of akrasia in Plato and Aristotle, so that we can better understand something which is still a matter of great dissent: how much of the Socratic explanation of the phenomenon is accepted by Aristotle and how much of it is discarded? In order to answer this question, Ive tried to highlight the differences that separate the authors in what concerns both their description of akrasia and the way they conceive the voluntary act. Ive also dedicated the introduction of the work to a discussion about two plays of Euripides, Hyppolitus and Medea, with the objective of shedding some light in what we might perhaps call the pre-philosophical roots of the problem.

Abstract:
This paper purports toshow that it is not necessary to read the early Platonic dialogues starting from the classic theory of Forms. It argues, instead, that it is possibleto analyze them and, above all, to explain the use of the vocabulary of presence starting from the more general and prior possibility of distinguishing a subject from its accidental predicates, especially quality. The relation of present in or being in to which Plato recurs. is inherited by Aristotle. The distinction between being said about something as asubject and being in something as in a subject (Categories 2) seems to be anatural development of Platonic ontology. It is argued that the Aristotelian conception is closer to the earlier than to the intermediate dialogues.<br>El trabajo se propone mostrar que no es necesario leer los diálogos platónicos tempranos desde la teoría clásica de las Formas, sino que es posible analizarlos y, sobre todo, explicar el uso del vocabulario de la presenciaa la luz del problema más general -y previo- de la posibilidad de distinguir entre un sujeto y los predicados accidentales, en especial la cualidad. La relación de presente en o de estar en a la que recurre Platón es heredada por Aristóteles. La distinción entre las expresiones decirse de algo como de un sujeto y estar en algo como en un sujeto(Categorías 2) parece ser un desarrollo natural de la ontología platónica. Sostendremos que el planteo aristotélico está mucho más próximo al de los diálogos tempranos que al de los medios.

In the Apology Plato ascribes to Socrates a kind of knowledge that distinguishes him from others, viz., the knowledge that in truth he is worthless in respect of knowledge. Furthermore, the cultivation of this ‘Socratic wisdom’ is presented by Plato as necessary for anyone wishing to pursue the examined life, the only life worth living for a human being, and therefore as something that we all should seek to acquire. In the Charmides, however, Socrates argues at length to the conclusion that such knowledge is neither possible nor, even if it were possible, of any use. This apparent contradiction in Platonic doctrine is the problem of Socratic wisdom in the Apology and the Charmides. The thesis first constructs the problem of Socratic wisdom from the text of the two dialogues. It then considers various strategies in the long tradition of Platonic scholarship by which proposals have been made to resolve this and other inconsistencies in Plato. These strategies are assessed and reasons are given for preferring a recent approach called the ‘double dialogue’ reading of Plato, which treats his works not primarily as vehicles for publishing his doctrines, but as philosophical challenges for the reader. The thesis then conducts a double dialogue reading of the second half of the Charmides and demonstrates how this way of reading Plato provides a resolution to the problem of Socratic wisdom. The resolution lies in showing how, in the Charmides, Plato issues a challenge to the reader to address the inadequacies of the model of knowledge that underlies the apparent success of the dialogue’s refutation of Socratic wisdom. Thus, not only is the problem of Socratic wisdom resolved, but the double dialogue strategy of reading Plato is validated for further employment in resolving other inconsistencies in Plato.

Nietzscheâ s view of Socrates has been studied at length by a number of scholars, and yet the accounts resulting from these studies, even when descriptively correct, have not given a full explanation of the relationship between the two philosophers. More specifically, they fail to clarify the proper connection between Nietzsche and Socrates in terms of fundamental aspects of Nietzscheâ s thought, especially in terms of his view of reason. The most influential interpretation of Nietzscheâ s relationship to Socrates comes from Kaufmann, who claims that Nietzscheâ s view of Socrates is one of pure admiration. More recently, scholars such as Nehamas have corrected Kaufmannâ s flawed interpretation. Although Nehamas has properly understood Nietzscheâ s view of Socrates to be one of ambivalence, his interpretation is wanting in that it provides only a partial explanation of this ambivalence. <p> My argument will take the following form. I will first establish in Chapters 2-5 (A) Nietzscheâ s ambivalence toward Socrates. Then, independently of that discussion, I will reveal in Chapter 6 (B) his ambivalence toward reason. The strict parallelism between these two manifestations of ambivalence in Nietzsche will permit me to make the claim that (B) explains (A). By this analysis I will demonstrate that Nietzsche is not only positive and negative in his assessments of both Socrates and reason, but that he is ambivalent to both for the same reasons. More specifically, for Nietzsche, Socratesâ emphasis upon dialectical reason as the one and only medium for attaining eudaimonia is ultimately nihilistic. It stands as a singular example of the variety of nihilistic practices that emphasize one perspective over all others; and to deny perspective, is, for Nietzsche, to deny life itself. Thus Nietzsche understands such practices, among which he includes Christianity, ethical objectivism, and Platoâ s metaphysics, as a misuse of reason. However, the appropriate use of reason involves experimenting with other modes of expression such as aphorisms, the performing arts, and poetry, which grant the individual as much moral and intellectual freedom as necessary so that they may affirm life in the manner they find most satisfying and rewarding. Hence, it is only through a thorough investigation of Nietzscheâ s view of reason that his ambivalence toward Socrates can be fully understood, namely, as a manifestation of his ambivalence to reason.<br>Master of Arts

Abstract:
Much modern moral philosophy has conceived of its interpretative and critical aims in relation to an entity it sometimes terms 'common-sense morality'. The term was influentially used in something like its canonical sense by Henry Sidgwick in his classic work The Methods of Ethics (1874). Sidgwick conceived of common-sense morality as a more-or-less determinate body of current moral opinion, and traced his ('doxastic') conception through Kant back to Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics and the practice of Plato's Socrates before him. The Introduction to this thesis traces the influence of Sidgwick's conception both on subsequent (mis)understandings of Socratic practice as well as on the practice of moral philosophy in the twentieth century. The first essay offers a challenge to Sidgwick's understanding of Socratic practice. I argue that Socrates' questioning of his interlocutors, far from revealing some determinate body of pre-existing beliefs, is in fact a demonstration of the dynamic and partially indeterminate quality of common-sense morality. The value for the interlocutor of engaging in such conversation with Socrates consisted primarily in its forcing him to adopt what I term a deliberative stance with respect to his own practice and dispositions, asking himself not 'what is it that I believe?' but rather, 'what am I to believe?' This understanding of Socratic practice gives us a way of reconciling the often puzzling combination of conservative and radical elements in Plato's dialogues. The second essay is a discussion of the reception of Sidgwick's conception of ethics in twentieth-century Oxford, a hegemonic centre of Anglophone philosophy. This recent tradition consists both of figures who accepted Sidgwick's picture of moral philosophy's aims and those who rejected it. Of the critics, I am centrally concerned with Bernard Williams, whose life's work, I argue, can be fruitfully understood as the elaboration of a heterodox understanding of Socratic practice, opposed to Sidgwick's. Ethics, on this conception, is a project directed at the emancipation of our moral experience from the many distortions to which it is vulnerable. Williams's writings in moral philosophy, disparate and not entirely systematic, are unified by these emancipatory aims, aims they share with strains of psychoanalysis except in that they do not scorn philosophical argument as a tool of emancipation: in this respect among others, I claim, they are fundamentally Socratic.

Nesta tese estudamos algumas regiões de aparente estabilidade no cinturão de asteróides e no cinturão de Kuiper, analisando a evoluçãao dinâmica dos objetos nessas regiões por intervalos de tempo muito longos, em geral, da ordem da idade do Sistema Solar. Centramos principalmente nossa atenção no estudo das populações de pequenos corpos ressonantes, analisando três exemplos diferentes: a ressonância 2/1 com Júpiter e seu entorno (falha de Hecuba), a ressonância 2/3 com Netuno (Plutinos), e a ressonância 1/1 com Júpiter (Troianos). Atacamos o problema com diferentes ferramentas numéricas e analíticas: integração numérica direta de modelos precisos, modelos estatísticos de caminhada aleatória, modelos semi-analíticos baseados no desenvolvimento assimétrico da função perturbadora, cálculo de expoentes de Lyapunov, análise de freqüências, determinação de elementos próprios e taxas de difusão, etc. Os resultados obtidos permitem elaborar conclusões sobre a possível origem e evolução dinâmica destas populações.<br>In this thesis, we study some regions of regular motion in the asteroid main belt and in the Kuiper belt. We analyze the dynamical evolution in these regions over time scales of the order of the age of the Solar System. We centered our study on the populations of resonant minor bodies, discussing three examples: the 2/1 mean motion resonance with Jupiter (Hecuba gap), the 2/3 resonance with Neptune (Plutinos), and the 1/1 resonance with Jupiter (Trojans). We attack the problem with several different tools, both analytic and numeric: integration of N-body models, random-walk statistical models, semi-analytical models based on the assymetric expansion of the disturbing function, calculation of the maximum Lyapunov exponent, frequancy analysis, estimates of the diffusion of proper elements, etc. The results allow to draw conclusions about the possible origin of these populations.

Abstract:
In keeping with Socrates’ advice that it is “a better thing to accomplish a little well than a lot inadequately” (Theaetetus, 187d), this master’s report provides a detailed study of a few relatively short sections of Plato’s Theaetetus. After an analysis of the beginning of the work and its opening themes, I examine the Protagorean thesis as it is first revealed in Theaetetus’ second endeavor to say what knowledge is. Rather than follow the entire course of Socrates’ account of Protagoras’ position, I bring out a few of the essential features of this initial presentation and attempt to gain some clarity as to the possible meaning and purpose behind Protagoras’ enigmatic declaration that man is the measure of all things. The final section of my paper entails a close analysis of the dialogue’s last definition of knowledge: true opinion with speech. Although this account does not answer all of the questions posed by the Protagorean thesis, we find within it the most promising approach to answering the question of the dialogue: “What is knowledge?” While the Theaetetus comes to a close with this final attempt and ultimate failure to answer the question with which it began, I show that Socrates’ spurious arguments often serve more as pointers toward the truth than as refutations of the “truths” proposed.<br>text

Grounded on the reading of Timeus, book X of The Laws, and book V of The Republic, this chapter analyses the process of invention of idealism, which consists first and foremost in the subordination of the material principle of the atomists to a higher divine principle. Through this process, Plato is able to shape the idea of a hierarchy of perfection in the universe which, as on a scale, relies but also distinguishes superior and inferior things. Monstrosity thus becomes the feature of the lower parts of the universe, the material and necessary parts, recalcitrant to their ordering by the superior and divine ones. This chpapter’s thesis is that, in Plato, the threatening character of monstrosity becomes a dangerous threat for the order and harmony of the universe. Monstrosity is the inferior other of divinity. Plato also reinforces Socrates’s teleology and opposes the realm of ideal truth to that of aimless, rumbling and chaotic causality that monstrously characterises the lower reality.

This chapter begins with Deleuze's theory of immanent problems or ideas. Examining the ways in which the two main theorists of ideas — Plato and Kant — shape Deleuze's own theory, this chapter shows that ideas are the problems of the world, and the various actualised individuals we experience are the divergent solutions to these problems. The Deleuzean idea, as for Plato and Kant, is characterised by three dimensions, which are called the ‘three-part problem-structure of ideas’: firstly, the undetermined elements are, secondly, reciprocally determinable through differential relations, which are organised by, thirdly, the determination of singularities. Unlike the idea in Plato or Kant, though, an idea for Deleuze is not a transcendent unified identity but is instead a truly generative and immanent ontological structure.

The book begins by setting up what Løgstrup calls the main traditions of Western ethics: teleology and deontology. The teleological tradition is the oldest, originating in Plato and Aristotle, but it also includes Utilitarianism along with early twentieth-century thinkers such as Max Scheler and Nicolai Hartmann. The central proponent of the deontological tradition is Kant, but it also includes Kierkegaard. Also, Løgstrup very briefly introduces a third, ontological, tradition with reference to Luther’s idea of natural law, and which is based on the fundamental conditions of our human existence. This tradition is further described in the subsequent chapters of the book.

Though Plato never wrote a dialogue that explicitly asks, "What is education?", few argue that he is uninterested in the subject; after all, Plato, like Socrates, was a teacher. In his magnum opus, the Republic, Plato deals with education repeatedly. The eduction of the guardian class and the allegory of the cave present two landmark pedagogical passages. Yet to catch a glimpse of Socratic pedagogy, we must first sift through the intricacies of dialogue. In addition to the complexity inherent in dramatic context, it seems clear that Socrates’ remarks are often steeped in irony. Thus, we stumble upon a problem: how should we read these passages on education? Does Plato mean for us to read them genuinely or ironically? I will argue that Plato uses the dramatic context of the Republic to suggest that Socrates presents the education of the guardians ironically, while reserving the allegory of the cave for a glimpse of Socrates’ genuine pedagogy.

The aim of this paper is to defend that Plato’s philosophy, embodied in the hypothesis of forms that has in its scope an account of sense data and sensitivity. They do not have to be left out, as the secondary literature usually holds. In Theaetetus, Socrates analyses exhaustively the possibility of sensitivity be held as knowledge; In Phaedo, using the reminiscence argument, Plato admits that in order to have learning process and memory, it is necessary that we have two correlative and mutually necessary cognitive experiences, namely: a sensitive perception (aísthesis), which gives rise to anamneses, and the soul’s contact to the forms, which is prior to birth. This is so, because the individual can only have memory of what he knew beforehand. This paper holds therefore that there is a perception philosophy in Plato.

In this paper I aim to show that the restoration model of pleasure as we find it in Plato’s Gorgias, Republic, Timaeus, and Philebus contains a common psychological core, despite the substantial developments and greater sophistication in the later works. I argue that, contrary to the scholarly consensus, all four dialogues take the necessary condition for pain to be a state of imbalance or disharmony rather than a process of destruction or deterioration. Given that the necessary condition for pleasure is a process of restoration, it follows that the restoration model offers a strikingly asymmetrical account of pleasure and pain. This unorthodox interpretation of pain is not only favoured by the textual evidence but is also more charitable, as it attributes to Plato a more plausible view of impure pleasures, a more realistic account of desire, and a more compelling argument for the greater pleasantness of the philosophical life.

A partir de un proceso de elaboración de un plato de cocina, desarrollamos una actividad orientada a ilustrar a los estudiantes conceptos relacionados con los planes de control y los conceptos de calidad. La actividad desarrollada permite realizar el proceso completo de preparación de un plan de control, determinando las variables a controlar y las herramientas de control, su posterior aplicación durante una sesión outdoor, y finalizando con la discusión sobre el proceso de ejecución, determinando las variables críticas de control y las mejoras que se podrían introducir. Los resultados de la actividad son esperanzadores. La evaluación de la actividad por los alumnos participantes indica una motivación alta hacia la actividad y una percepción de la utilidad de la actividad también elevada.

The reasons are to be sought in the following circumstances: capitalism has undergone fundamental changes; it has entered a stage of global integration; the scientific-technical revolution has raised it to a greater height; new technologies have entered the economy; electronization, robotization, computerization, science has penetrated all spheres of life, has become an immediate productive force; it is rising to a higher level; production is being naturalized, it is becoming a field of application of science. History, however, follows its own logic. The immature economic forms of production do not submit to exact theoretical reflections; as they change, so do our ideas about them.
