Postoperative delirium (POD) is associated with increased complication and mortality rates, particularly among older adult patients. However, guideline recommendations for POD detection and management are poorly implemented. Fast-and-frugal trees (FFTrees), which are simple prediction algorithms, may be useful in this context. We compared the capacity of simple FFTrees with two more complex models—namely, unconstrained classification trees (UDTs) and logistic regression (LogReg)—for the prediction of POD among older surgical patients in the perioperative setting. The development of soybean (Glycine max) is regulated by the photoperiod, with genes related to photoperiod sensitivity primarily focused on the flowering time. However, their roles in post-flowering reproductive development and the mechanisms by which the photoperiod affects them are not yet determined. In this study, we found that pod formation is sensitive to the photoperiod. Long-day conditions tended to extend the time from flowering to pod formation, and the first wave of flowers tended to fall off. Additionally, the photoperiod affected the pistil morphology; under short-day conditions,

Abstract:
This workshop covers the potential outcomes approach to identification and estimation of causal (or treatment) effects in several situations that arise in various empirical research fields. The settings include unconfounded treatment assignment (with randomized assignment as a special case), confounded assignment with instrumental variables, and regression discontinuity designs. An official Instats certificate of completion is provided at the conclusion of the seminar. For European PhD students, the seminar offers 2 ECTS Equivalent point.

Abstract:
This report releases 235 runs of whole-rock geochemical and assay results of 235 samples/subsamples from the Archean banded iron formation-hosted gold mineralization in the Geraldton area, eastern Wabigoon subprovince, northwestern Ontario. The samples were collected during the 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016 field seasons as part of a PhD study by the senior author (Tth, 2018) at Laurentian University in Sudbury. Geochemical analyses were paid in part by the GSC for the 2012, 2013 samples, while the 2014 and 2016 samples were graciously paid by the second author, Bruno Lafrance and Greenstone Gold

Abstract:
This seminar, taught by Dr. Mike Crowson, is designed to introduce students and researchers to the basics of linear regression analysis using SPSS, including automated moderation analysis (interaction effect tests) using the PROCESS macro. The seminar is designed for anyone who wishes to better understand linear regression concepts and assumptions and how to perform regression analyses involving both quantitative and qualitative predictors with moderation effects. In addition to developing practical skills setting up regression models, testing hypotheses, and generating results, a central focu
