Using his seemingly crass and apparently pessimistic "This Be the Verse" as a point of departure, this paper examines Philip Larkin's poetry with regard to the poet's own attitude towards the reader. His highly accessible poems, penned in common language, resulted in a reputation as both a 'poet of the people' and a 'philistine'. There are many ways to look at the making of American poetry. The author begins with the land and Native Americans in the New World, including what is in the United States, decentring or defamiliarizing the Anglo-American tradition by beginning with the Indigenous peoples and their languages and discussing poets of aboriginal, African, and Asian backgrounds in poetry and translation. With settlers, the author begins with Gaspar Pérez de Villagrá, a Creole writing an epic in Spanish, and ends with Forrest Gander, also born in the United States, including a poem that mixes English and Spanish. Samsun grows into a big town after the constitutional monarchy comes into force. Theatres were opened; poetry volumes and novels were published in Samsun. İntibah-ı Milli, a play written by Remzi-i Ayntabî, was among these books. Although its publication date is unknown, it is thought that it appeared in 1911 or 1912. It was one of the first published plays. Even though its aesthetic quality can be questionable, it is an important work that represents the fall of the Ottoman Empire, and teaches some lessons to youth.
