Abstract:
ABSTRACT Beards are an indication that man has reached maturity. It is with this idea in mind that the songs from the second album by artist Baco Exu do Blues, Bluesman, are analyzed. At the early age of 22, in his act of creation, Baco criticized the conditions of socioeconomic inequality and racism imposed on people of African descent, acting as an ideological sign in the construction of a Black Consciousness. As a symbol of insurgency, Baco also used mythical language to compose an identity and format his rap, creating a hero. Hip hop criticizes racial capitalism, established in Brazil with the colonization and the arrival of enslaved Africans. The compositions are analyzed as cries of resistance to necropolitics – a call to perform acts that relate ethical values and poetry when doing politcs.

Abstract:
The author critically discusses the theses about the relation between literature and politics which were presented in Vojislav Stanovcic?s work ?A Contribution of the Historical and Literary Works to the Understanding of Political Phenomena?. The first part points to the basic concepts of knowledge, symbols, notions, truth, literature and politics. The second part includes the experimental analysis of the relation between literature and politics. The conclusion underlines the claim that there is no general knowledge about the link between literature and politics and that every specific relation should be discussed separately.

AbstractSaid's work has had different significance in different contexts. From a literary perspective his greatest achievement has been his challenging of the New Critical separation of aesthetic and political concerns. His seminal work Orientalism has been the central influence of the last twenty years for literary scholars concerned with cultural exchanges between Asia and America, even though his professed task was the discussion of European and Middle Eastern political and aesthetic interrelations. This paper examines the political significance of Orientalism in the light of the struggles within literary studies that gave rise to the text. but there is a difference between overstatement for effect and overstatement as doctrine....'

In this essay the author reflects on a monograph by Krzysztof Łęcki, Według Tukidydesa. Rozważania socjologa literatury nad ‘Wojną peloponeską’ [According to Thucydides: Reflections on the Sociological Literature about The Peloponnesian War] (2019), and seeks themes in it that extend beyond the sociology of literature. He concludes that Łęcki’s analysis convincingly adds to the body of knowledge on Thucydides’s text in philosophy and the sociology of politics. The book touches on many themes relevant to historical sociology or the sociological (and politological) understanding of rules governing the mechanisms of politics and international relations.

Abstract:
Th e article discusses the status and functioning of so-called small literatures, including Lithuanian literature, in the global system of world literature. Referring to Franco Moretti and Pascale Casanova’s interpretation of world literature system as based on the principle of inequality, the author discusses the conception of belonging to small literatures as a destiny and interprets the onecentric world literary system as hegemonic. Being dominated by grand literatures, small literatures have very restricted possibilities of gravitation towards the center of world literature. In that theoretical context, the article considers the following issues: is it possible and how is it possible to avoid the destiny of small literatures staying in the periphery of world literature, what role in this situation plays the writer himself, what depends on the culture and research politics, could literary scholars play the role of mediators and what could be the alternatives for onecentered world literary system.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTThe author presents an empirical study of the direct corporate taxation policy process in the European Union. The study links three public policy literatures that are usually considered somewhat distinct and independent: the literature on the politics of tax reform, the literature on policy change and the political role of knowledge, and the literature on European integration. The examination of these literatures leads to a series of hypotheses which are used for addressing the analysis of the policy process. The conclusions assess the hypotheses and draw implications for the study of knowledge utilisation, policy change, and policy types.
