In the karst regions of Vietnam, there are many different terrains. The most important one is karst polje. Because there are a lot of residential areas and important economic regions. Based on the study of Geomorphology, geological structure analysis, Geophysics document analysis, and karstification process research at Lang Son karst polje. The author gives conclusions: Lang Son karst polje was formed from the limestone of Bac Son Formation, 700 – 800 m thick. Lang Son karst polje was formed from anticline structure, the limestone of Bac Son Formation that has high karstification level. Lang S

The Sivas Basin, Central Anatolia, includes one of the most outstanding gypsum karst terrains in the world, covering an area of 2140 km2. The karst landscapes are developed on late Eocene gypsum deposits. The fact that the polje shapes that are commonly seen in the limestone karst terrain also seen in the Sivas gypsum karst area further increases the importance of this area in terms of geomorphology. This study is focused on the explanation of the morphometric properties and formation mechanism of poljes around the Kızılırmak River in the Sivas gypsum karst area. The geomorphological evolution

A detailed analysis of the Viñales National Park (VNP) was carried out to evaluate the main geosites of geomorphological interest inside the park. This allowed the selection of areas (AIG) and localities (LIG) with 20 geosites of geological interest (PIG) suitable to evaluate their importance as geoheritage. Moreover, three field trips and one virtual itinerary encompassing the park aimed to improve the geological–geomorphological knowledge to be used in geotouristic and preservation issues. The methodology included preparing five maps: relief, drainage pattern, slopes, lithology and geomorpho

Rivers and streams are heterogenous ecosystems that host a great number of vascular plant communities. The territory of Slovenia is highly diverse regarding geomorphologic, geologic, climatic, and edaphic conditions. We presumed that environmental variability will also affect the distribution of hygrophilous vascular plants in running waters and consequently the structure of plant communities they form. We analyzed macrophyte, spatial, and environmental parameters in 906 stretches of the watercourses occurring in the Dinaric, Pannonian, and Po lowland hydro-ecoregions. We determined 87 vascula

Jovan Cvijić (1865–1927) was a physical geographer, which is only one aspect of his field of endeavor but the one I will focus on in this presentation. As such, he played a role in the development of this discipline at national and international levels. His personal qualities were crucial to this recognition, but the intellectual background of the second half of the 19th century and the transnational context of the Austro-Hungarian Empire facilitated this threefold development. With his thesis entitled Das “Karstphänomen” (“The Karst phenomena”), defended in Vienna in 1883, he succeeded in pro
