Abstract:
In the france of the 17th and the 18th century some prominent writers like corneille, bossuet, montesquieu and rousseau, simple essayists like saint-evremond, and revolutionaries like marat and robespierre did not adhere to the admiration of ancient rome that had become traditional in europe since the renaissance. The author makes this point by a detailed study of the works of these writers who, in spite of texts written with certain precautions of style, denounce the excessive cult of rome of modern europeans, its aspiration to universal domination, its institutions and the corruption which takes over after several centuries of existence. These studies are accompanied by analyses which link these critical opinions of rome to the political views which are implicit or explicit in each work. In order to understand the influences of foodplant and vegetation composition on oviposition habitat selection and egg survival of Byasa polyeuctes termessus, this study investigated the distribution of two foodplants, Aristolochia foveolata and Aristolochia palmate at different altitudes in Lilung Mountain. From March-1-2009 to March-27-2010, we weekly measured the two foodplant density, foodplant leaf abundance and vegetation composition in oviposition microhabitat of B. polyeuctes termessus, and monitored the survival of each eggs recorded. The results showed that the number of eggs and larvae distributed consistently with the number of both foodplants at different altitudes. The two foodplant resource and the species number of non-foodplants in oviposition microhabitats were significantly higher than that in non-oviposition microhabitats. Female butterfly laid only limited number of eggs on each foodplant, and resulted in a scatter distribution of egg-laying in habitat. In the field, parasitism rates of eggs could reach to 50%, which was higher in microhabitat with more foodplant leaves than that with less leaves. Vegetation coverage and the number species of non-foodplants did not significantly influence the survival of the eggs. In conclusion, the foodplant availability is the key point for oviposition habitat selection of B. polyeuctes termessus. The female butterfly was able to search the two foodplants within microhabitat growing with many non-foodplants, and the scatter distribution of egg-laying in habitat not only may reduce the risk of egg parasitism but also ensure the foodplant supply for the larval growth in microhabitat.

Phylogenetic relationships among the Troidini butterflies in Taiwan were analyzed by comparing 830 nucleotide sequence of mitochondrial gene encoding cytochrome oxidase I (COI). The phylogenetic analysis reconstructed by neighbor-joining (NJ) and maximum-parsimony (MP) method suggested that the genera Byasa and Atrophaneura were closely related. The Atrophaneura horishana is the conservative butterflly in Taiwan, The Atrophaneura spp. is predominantly tropical, distribured in the low latitude area in South-East Asia, and the low altitude area in temperate Asia. Atrophaneura horishana is an endemic species in Taiwan, distributing at an altitude from 1500 to 2500 meters, mainly at mountains in central Taiwan. Atrophaneura horishana in Taiwnan must be suffered from the environmental changes during glacial periods. It is unknown that the implication of conservation of Atrophaneura horishana though such the evolutionary process. For understanding the post-glacial recolonization history of Atrophaneura horishana, it might be possible to study comparative phylogeography of Atrophaneura horishana the sympatric species Byasa polyeuctes termessus. The results show that the gene flow of low altitude populations of Byasa polyeuctes termessus is very frequently. The population differentiation of Byasa polyeuctes termessus distributed at high altitudeis not significant because of flying abilities. Comparatively, the populstions of Atrophaneura horishana in high alititude mountain area are more differentiated, but gene flow is still frequently. From the results, we suggest that the populations of Atrophaneura horishana in Taiwan is an Evolutionary Significant Unit (ESU), and it will be very important for the conserevation strategy of Atrophaneura horishana to monitor population dynamics and population genetic structure campared with Byasa polyeuctes termessus.

Abstract:
214 Abstract Conceptualization of Mores in Seventeenth-Century French Tragedy This thesis is devoted to the study of interpretations of how tragic characters should be portrayed ("mores", "ethos", "mœurs") in French seventeenth-century theories on Tragedy. The theoretical writings of Jean Chapelain, La Mesnardière, Pierre Corneille, d'Aubignac, René Le Bossu, Rapin, Saint-Évremond, Jean Racine and André Dacier are examined in detail. Their findings are compared with the Latin and Italian commentaries on how the Aristotelian notion "character" ("éthé", "éthos") ought to be perceived and understood and what its impact is on dramatic action. The main focus is paid to the detailed analysis of very divergent and often incompatible interpretations of the four Aristotelian conditions outlined briefly in Chapter XV of Poetics and on how the French theorists and dramatists responded to Aristotle's requirements. The first condition requires dramatic character to be "good of its kind" ("chrestos", "ethos" "chreston", "ethe chresta"). The detailed study of contemporary criticism draws us to a conclusion that there are schematically two approaches on how the French theorists conceptualized this very elusive criterion. Whereas Chapelain in his Préface à l'Adone explicitely rejects the moral meaning of "chrestos" and thus...
