Transparent luminescent TiO2/polymer nanocomposites were obtained through the combined use of copolymerization of a novel titanium ion containing monomer with a liquidsolid reaction. The titanium ions are covalently introduced into polymer chains and transformed into TiO2 nanocrystals directly in the solid-state polymer matrices. That allows the generation of high-quality anatase TiO2 nanocrystals with a narrow size distribution in the polymer matrices. The luminescence of the TiO2 nanocrystals is dominated by band-edge luminescence at room temperature.

The behaviour of the luminescence spectra of the organic dye R6G in a multiple scattering polymer matrix was studied with reference to the parameters of the scattering media. It was found that some of the luminescent parameters depend on the concentration of scattering particles, the refractive index of the scattering particles and the sample thickness. As it was shown, that the reason for these dependences is the reabsorption of luminescence light enhanced by multiple light scattering. AbstractThe paper reports on the dependence of the absorbance and luminescent intensity from pH of novel poly(oxyethylene phosphate) tris(β-diketonate) europium (III) complexes. The photophysical data obtained allow some preliminary assumptions about the nature of this phenomenon. Increase in luminescent efficiency is a consequence of enhanced efficiency of energy transfer caused by structural changes in complexes after water deprotonation. Remarkable change has been observed in photophysical properties of the polymer complexes by studying the fluorescent emission and excitation spectra and ab

In this work, photoluminescent properties of Ru (bpy)32+ incorporated in cellulose nanofiber (CNF) film was investigated by comparing with those in polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyacrylic acid (PAA) films. In the polymer films, the luminescence intensity of Ru (bpy)32+ was high and λmax of luminescence spectra was blue-shifted compared with those in aqueous solution. The high luminescence intensity was also observed in cellulose nanofiber (CNF) films but the spectrum was red-shifted. Luminescence decay measurement showed that the decays in polymer films were exponential and the lifetimes were

Polymer luminescent compositions based on polystyrene (PS), polycarbonate (PC) and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) doped with boron difluoride dibenzoylmethanate (DBMBF2), boron difluoride anthracenoylacetonate (AntAcBF2) and their mixture were investigated. Composition based on PS has a maximum quantum yield of luminescence. The role of PS in increasing the efficiency of energy transfer from the donor (DBMBF2) to the acceptor (AntAcBF2) is revealed, which is due to the formation of exciplexes between DBMBF2 and phenyl rings of PS.

The obtained rod-coil polymers have the average molecular weight of 15212 (PFPA) and 15130 (PFNA) with polydispersity indices (PDIs) 1.07 and 1.3, respectively. The polymers have good solubility and high thermal stability with the decomposition temperature of 362 °C (PFPA) and 367 °C (PFNA) correspondingly. Furthermore t

In this work, we present a novel pyrene-functionalized benzoxazine (Py-BZ)/single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) complex material as an efficient luminescent chemosensor for gaseous amines. It is shown that an interaction of poly(Py-BZ)/SWCNTs nanocomposites with analyte vapor leads to the increase of the intensity of luminescence. The response of these sensors to methylamines by static and dynamic flow measurement were studied.

The excitation and emission spectra of polymeric matrices—poly(ethylene oxide), PEO, and poly(propylene oxide), PPO—containing different concentrations of EuBr3 were recorded and most of the observed transitions identified. The Stark components of the 7F0−4, 5D0 levels and the corresponding barycenters were calculated based on the emission lines assignment to the 5D0,1 → 7F0−4 transitions. The spectra were discussed in terms of a C2v local Eu3+ coordination. The relative intensity of the 5D0 → 7F2 hypersensitive transition was related to the electrolyte morphological changes due to increasing

AbstractA simple fluorescence microscopy technique is developed and presented to investigate heterogeneities in emission intensity and quenching responses of luminescence sensors and to measure diffusion and permeation coefficients of oxygen in polymers. Most luminescence oxygen sensors do not follow linearity of the Stern-Volmer (SV) equation due to heterogeneity of luminophore in the polymer matrix. To circumvent this limitation, inverted fluorescence microscopy is utilized in this work to investigate the SV response of the sensors at the micron scale. It was found that intensity is higher i
