Abstract:
Eleven species are reviewed. A lectotype of Pompilus sogdianus Morawitz 1893 is designated, illustrated and redescribed. The distribution of Arachnospila sogdiana (Morawitz) is limited to Tajikistan only. A new species from Tajikistan, A. gussakovskii sp. nov., is described and illustrated. A new synonymy is proposed for Pompilus clericalis Morawitz 1893 =Arachnospila mongolorufa Wolf & Móczár 1972, syn. nov. Psammochares subocellatus Haupt 1933 is synonymized with Psammochares effodiens f. quadrimaculata Haupt 1929, syn. nov., which is raised to specific status and removed to Arachnospila. The synonymy of Arachnospila sogdiana koenigsmanni Wolf 1970 with Pompilus sogdianus Morawitz 1893 is confirmed. Pompilus turcorum de Dalla Torre 1897 (=Pompilus vagans Radoszkowski 1877, nom. praeocc., nec Costa 1874) is resurrected and moved to Arachnospila. A key to the species for both sexes is given.

Abstract:
The three species and two subspecies of the Evagetes crassicornis species-group are reviewed. A new species, Evagetes orientalis, sp. nov., is described and illustrated from the Russian Far East. A lectotype of Pompilus sahlbergi F. Morawitz 1893 is redescribed. Evagetes crassicornis crassicornis (Shuckard) is recorded for the first time from Ukraine, Georgia, Kazakhstan, and Alaska. A key is presented for both sexes of this species-group.

We recorded 33 species in 19 genera of spider wasps from the Dominican Republic, of which four species are newlydescribed here: Auplopus charlesi Waichert & Pitts, sp. nov., Dipogon (Deuteragenia) marlowei Waichert & Pitts, sp.nov., Notocyphus anacaona Rodriguez & Pitts, sp. nov., and Priocnessus vancei Waichert & Pitts, sp. nov. Eight generaare reported from the Dominican Republic for the first time: Aporinellus Banks, 1912, Caliadurgus Pate, 1946, DipogonFox, 1897, Drepanaporus Bradley, 1944, Epipompilus Kohl, 1884, Notocyphus Smith, 1855, Priocnemis Schiødte, 1837,and Priocnessus Banks, 1925. Two hundred and forty-four valid species in 36 genera are listed. The genus Telostegus Costa, 1887 with the species T. inermis (Brullé, 1833) are newly recorded from Russia. Lectotypes are designated for Salius desertorum F. Morawitz, 1891, Psammochares amurensis Gussakovskij, 1932, and Pompilus cardinalis F. Morawitz, 1891. The generic status of Batozonellus Arnold, 1937, stat. resurr. is reinstated. Five taxa: Ceropales pygmaea pygmaea Kohl, 1880, C. ruficornis Gussakovskij, 1931, Eoferreola anatolica Priesner, 1973, Hemipepsis sinensis (Smith, 1855), and Telostegus nigritulus (Klug, 1834) are excluded from the list of the Russian fauna. The world number of genus-group names of Pompilidae is clarified: 451 nominal names, including 42 unavailable names, were proposed. Of the 409 available names, 254 are currently considered valid.

Abstract:
Microhabitats capacity to support insect species diversity and persistence were evaluated implementing solitary parasitoids and predatory insects according to different phases of herbicide and chemical fertilizer applications. Two species of the genus Xanthopimpla (Ichneumonidae) and one species of the genus Pompilus (Pompilidae) showed relationships on vegetation-type microhabitats, notably natural weeds, leguminous cover crops, and the beneficial plant Turnera subulata, while two species of the genus Evania (Evaniidae) showed relationships with chipped oil palm trunks. One species from the genus Odontomachus (Formicidae) as an exclusive predatory ant was related to both chipped oil palm trunks and the beneficial plant T. subulata. Xanthopimpla parasitoids exhibited abundance fluctuations difference around natural weeds during herbicide application phases between three- and six-years old oil palm stands, with decreased and increased abundance patterns of the former and the latter, respectively. 18 years old oil palm stand showed increased abundance patterns only along with the different phases of chemical fertilizer applications. The importance of natural weeds diversity, restrictions of leguminous cover crops, frequency of herbicide applications, and the arrangements between beneficial plants and wood-based microhabitats that benefited insect parasitoids and predators were discussed.

Abstract:
DNA barcoding studies to elucidate the evolutionary and dispersal history of the current populations of Nautilus pompilius allow us to develop a greater understanding of their biology, their movement and the systematic relationships between different groups. Phylogenetic analyses were conducted on Australian N. pompilius, and COI sequences were generated for 98 discrete accessions. Sequences from samples collected across the distribution were sourced from GenBank and included in the analyses. Maximum likelihood revealed three distinct clades for N. pompilius: (1) populations sourced from west Australia, Indonesia and the Philippines; (2) populations collected from east Australia and Papua New Guinea; (3) western Pacific accessions from Vanuatu, American Samoa and Fiji, supporting previous findings on the evolutionary divergence of N. pompilius. A minimum spanning tree revealed 49 discrete haplotypes for the 128 accessions, from a total of 16 discrete sampling locations. Population similarity reflects oceanic topographic features, with divergence between populations across the N. pompilius range mirroring geographical separation. This illustrates the success of DNA barcoding as a tool to identify geographic origin, and looks to the future role of such technology in population genetics and evolutionary biology.

Abstract:
The discovery of a specimen of Nautilus praepompilius Shimansky, 1957, from the Chegan Formation of Kazakhstan confirms that this species is assignable to Nautilus, and that this extant genus extends back to the late Eocene. It is morphologically closest to Nautilus pompilius Linnaeus. The nepionic constriction shows that the hatching size was ca. 23 mm dia, close to that for Nautilus pompilius (ca. 26 mm dia).

Abstract:
La découverte du feu a permis l'évolution de l'homme. Au fil du temps, le feu est devenu un fléau, affaibli, mais jamais éradiqué. Représentant parfois le bien, parfois le mal, il devient obligatoire de le combattre le métier de sapeur-pompier est né. Son évolution, parallèle à celle de la société est semée d'embûches. Aujourd'hui, le soldat du feu s'éloigne de sa mission première et voit celle-ci se diversifier et augmenter considérablement en quantité. Il est contraint de se former continuellement, sa responsabilité se trouvant engagée dans chaque nouvelle mission. En ce début de millénaire, le sapeur-pompier est un sauveteur à part entière et il doit se comporter comme tel. Il est forcé de s'intéresser aux modes et aux rythmes de vie de la population et doit acquérir une technicité et une connaissance approfondie dans de nombreux domaines. Son altruisme, son acceptation du risque demeurent ainsi son quotidien face à l'évolution de l'essor technique, de l'augmentation des blessures physiques et faits nouveaux de société ; les blessures morales. Le pompier ne possède pas de formations adéquates, pourtant, il doit faire face. La formation, jadis facultative devient obligatoire. De sa base, aux recyclages permanents, en passant par les formations nouvelles qui apparaissent au fur et à mesure des dangers nouveaux et de la nouvelle réglementation de plus en plus stricte, le pompier doit pouvoir suivre une formation rigoureuse, adaptée, performante et évolutive si nous voulons que l'exigence demandée soit en harmonie avec la compétence effectuée.

Les Français entretiennent une véritable " histoire d'amour " avec les sapeurs-pompiers. Mais à quoi tient cet " amour " entretenu depuis plus d'un siècle ; sur quoi repose cette " belle image " ? C'est à cette question simple que nous avons cherché à répondre en mobilisant les apports d'une sociologie pragmatique. Les sapeurs-pompiers ne présentent pas un seul visage, mais une image à plusieurs facettes (" figures "). Ils se laissent découvrir sous les traits du " technicien du risque ", du " soldat du feu " et du " pompier de Sainte-Barbe ". Nous formulons l'hypothèse que cet " amour ", cette " belle image " reposent sur la capacité des sapeurs-pompiers à susciter, à contrôler et à mettre en forme l'émotion éprouvée par les " profanes " (personnes étrangères à la profession) lors d'un sinistre ou lors d'une manifestation à caractère public. Si le " point de vue " (regard et jugement) des " profanes " évoluent aux cours des deux derniers siècles, à mesure qu'émergent ces différentes " figures ", les sapeurs-pompiers ont su inventer de nouvelles formes d' " attachement " (liens matérialisés et affectifs) qui les lient aux " profanes "
French people live a real " love story " with their fire-fighters. But what grounds this " love " that perdures for more than a century, on what is this " bright picture " based ? This is the simple question we tried to answer with the assets of a pragmatic sociology. Fire-fighters do not show a single face, but a composite picture of many " faces ". They are percieved as " risk technicians ", as " fire soldiers " and as " St Barbara fire-fighters ". We formulate the hypothesis that the " love ", this " bright picture " rely on the ability of fire-fighters to create, control and give form to the emotions experimented by " mundanes " (people foreign to the corporation) during an intervention or a public manifestation. If the " point of view " (onlloking and judgement) of the " mundanes " have evolved during the two last centuries, with the rise of these faces, fire-fighters were able to invent new means of " bonding " (affective and materialised bonds) who link them with the " mundanes "

« Les Sapeurs-pompiers, une identité temporelle de métier » Résumé Notre thèse a pour objet le travail des sapeurs-pompiers. Ce travail est soumis à une évolution notable. D'un côté, l'évolution récente du métier, avec la croissance des interventions de « secours à victimes » affaiblit l'image du pompier « héroïque » pour le transformer en « travailleur social ». D'un autre côté, les pompiers maintiennent leurs engagements professionnels et répondent aux attentes de la population en mobilisant des valeurs collectives. Nos analyses tentent de montrer les multiples facettes de ce travail d'urgence en variant les objets d'analyse : négociation et conflit à propos du temps de travail, interventions lors de la catastrophe "AZF", observation de la vie quotidienne des pompiers, analyse de leurs discours assistée par ordinateur. Notre thèse peut être résumée rapidement. Le travail d'urgence des sapeurs-pompiers est supporté par une identité temporelle de métier. L'identité des pompiers se construit autour de valeurs partagées, de représentations tout autant subjectives qu'imprégnées d'histoire de la profession. Le pompier reste pompier même en dehors de ses activités professionnelles. L'organisation formalisée des interventions est accompagnée d'une organisation collective non-formalisée, tributaire des évènements, mais qui renvoie à un ensemble de croyances et d'engagements orientés vers l'aide des victimes. Les temporalités de cette profession caractérisent bien cette identité particulière : des horaires peu communs, l'urgence des interventions, le refus de la distinction entre vie privée et vie professionnelle, une disponibilité permanente. Ces temporalités sont bien sociales. Elles transgressent les frontières établies entre les activités, les manières de classer et de mesurer l'effort des individus. Le métier de sapeurs-pompiers met en cause les cadres habituels d'analyse du travail. Ce métier de la « protection » des individus est en effet exercé à 85% par des non-professionnels. Les « volontaires » mettent en relief ce type d'engagement professionnel très particulier, à la limite d'un salariat classique, caractérisé par une vie associative et par une activité professionnelle complémentaire. L'identité temporelle de métier permet de déplacer le regard sur le travail, son organisation et sur sa finalité économique. Elle s'articule autour du don de soi, dans des collectifs soudés, en vue d'un service public de protection, du secours et de la solidarité sociale.

Dans cette recherche, nous nous demandons comment expliquer et favoriser l’implication des sapeurs-pompiers volontaires (SPV) au sein des Services départementaux d’incendie et de secours (SDIS). La première partie de notre recherche tente de combler un certain manque de connaissances organisationnelles concernant les SDIS. En nous appuyant sur une analyse pluridisciplinaire (sociologique, historique, juridique et politique), il apparaît qu'ils peuvent être apparentés au modèle de la bureaucratie professionnelle au sens de Mintzberg. Cette catégorisation induit notamment une complexité des relations entre sapeurs-pompiers professionnels et volontaires. Dans une deuxième partie, nous questionnons l'existence d’une « crise du volontariat » qui aurait un impact sur les effectifs de SPV. Sur la base de 9 entretiens exploratoires, nous infirmons partiellement ce constat. Il apparaît toutefois nécessaire pour l’organisation d’accroître ses efforts en vue d’attirer et de fidéliser les SPV. Le recueil des données est principalement constitué d’une série de 47 entretiens semi-directifs, complété d’une étude quantitative (n=173, taux de retour 52%) et d’une observation de 9 centres de secours. La dernière partie présente les résultats et leurs implications managériales. Les facteurs d'implication organisationnelle des SPV peuvent être classés en deux catégories : facteurs environnementaux et facteurs organisationnels. Pour mesurer l’attractivité qualitative et quantitative des centres de secours vis-à-vis des SPV, nous proposons un schéma quadridimensionnel permettant d’identifier le profil d’un centre, les opportunités et limites qu’il présente pour susciter l'implication des SPV
This research examines how to explain and increase organizational commitment of Volunteer Firefighters (VF) of French Fire Departments (FD). In the first part, we intend to fill a gap of organizational knowledge on French Fire Departments. Using a multidisciplinary approach, we demonstrate FD can be considered, in a certain extent, as a Mintzberg’s professional bureaucracy, involving complex relationship between Career Firefighters and VF. In the second part, we question the commonly accepted idea of “volunteer crisis”. An exploratory study partly undermines such statement but show some concerns for sustainability of such a model. For this reason, FD needs to increase effort and to find new ways to attract and retain VF. Research data is made up of a qualitative study (47 semi-directive interviews). A quantitative study (173 questionnaires, return rate 52%) were held to broaden findings of the qualitative study. In the third part, findings are presented and discussed along with their practical implications. Findings are divided in two parts: environmental factors and organizational factors of VF commitment. Environmental factors have a strong influence on decision to apply and to last for a long time in FD. Managing environmental factors can turn out to be productive but has to be done by circuitous ways. Amongst organizational factors of VF commitment, operational activities come to first rank. VF commitment seems to be negatively correlated with brigade’ size and more precisely seems depend on the presence or not of Career Firefighters in brigade. Finally, in order to present profile and assess brigades’ attractiveness for VF, a 4-dimension model is developped

Les sapeurs-pompiers volontaires français sont en pleine mutation. En effet, ils connaissent actuellement une crise qui, même si elle n'est pas nouvelle se fait de plus en plus inquiétante. Voici une dizaine d'années que les textes législatifs et réglementaires viennent encadrer sérieusement l'activité des sapeurs-pompiers volontaires. Le problème réside dans le fait que l'on cherche à professionnaliser une activité qui fait avant tout appel à la bonne volonté. Comment peut-on imposer de plus en plus de contraintes à des personnes qui peuvent du jour au lendemain démissionner ? Le sapeur-pompier volontaire français, contrairement à ses homologues européens se trouve dans un état de pauvreté qui tranche avec l'énergie et le temps consacrés à rendre service aux autres. Il est urgent, si l'on souhaite conserver un système de secours de proximité efficace, d'agir concrètement en faveur des sapeurs-pompiers volontaires et de reconnaître leur rôle en leur donnant un réel statut. Tout le monde est unanime pour dire qu'il faut reconnaître l'activité des volontaires. La reconnaissance, voici ce qui fait cruellement défaut. Le sapeur-pompier volontaire est encore trop souvent représenté comme celui ou celle qui rend service dans son village. Au contraire, il est un technicien du risque qui maîtrise comme un sapeur-pompier professionnel les différentes techniques de secours. Il se forme, se recycle, assure des gardes au détriment de sa vie de famille et bien souvent de ses loisirs. Il est plus que jamais nécessaire que l'État se montre attentif aux attentes des volontaires et consente à leur reconnaître des avantages sociaux et/ou fiscaux par exemple. Dans le cas contraire, il est à craindre que l'égalité de tous devant les secours ne soit plus la règle. Il est absolument nécessaire d'agir avant qu'il ne soit trop tard et avant que les sapeurs-pompiers volontaires se tournent vers d'autres activités

Abstract:
This paper studies the morphology and evolutionary growth of the Nautilus pompilius based on the fractional R1-trigonometry. Morphological models based on the fractional trigonometry are shown to be superior to those of the commonly assumed logarithmic spiral. The R1-trigonometric functions further infer fractional differential equations which, based on power law parametric functions, are used to develop a fractional growth equation modeling evolution from conception to maturity.
