No Maastrichtiano, ocorre elevação do nível do mar. No Paleoceno, a intensa atividade tectônica propiciou soerguimento de áreas-fonte, com intenso vulcanismo associado, ea formação de bancos bioclásticos paralelos à linha de costa. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT
The studied area is located on the Black Sea coast, central-northern Turkey, where Pontides Belt outcrops are exposed. The studied interval belongs to Akveren Formation, a sedimentary section deposited during the Upper Cretaceous to Lower Cenozoic (Lower Campanian to Upper Eocene), as dated by Kirici et al. (2007). Theaim of this study is to present depositional models for the Pontides Belt in the studie darea, based on field geology, sampling, petrographic descriptions, facies association and stratigraphic relations. Akveren Formation is a Lower Campanian to Eocene marine carbonate sequence, withpaleo-Tethyan fauna, well exposed in Pontides Belt at Black Sea coast. Bioclasts accumulations tend to form sigmoidal progradational bars, in high energy shallow water environments. Laterally, lagoonal facies from restricted shallow waters, and slope facies from higher water depth in the external portions of the platform arealso observed. In Paleocene/Eocene, high energy shallow water bioclastic banks parallel to the coastline are formed by red algae and macroforams as Discocyclina. Some calciturbidites and tempestites were also observed, as result of reworking in higher energy transportevents.During Lower Campanian, it was registered a high level sea water system tract with progradation of bioclastic bars. In Upper Campanian, a relative sea level fall occurred, causing partial exposure and erosion of the platform. In Maastrichtian, sea level returnsto rise, but at to lower levels than found in the Campanian. Intense tectonic activityduring Paleocene uplifted the area with intense associated volcanism. The Upper Paleocene/Eocene relative sea level fall led the transport of terrigenous sediments tothe platform, which were reworked during the early stages of the transgressive systemtract.

Full textThe study in object gives a synchronical description of the pontic Greek language (dialect of xaldhia) spoken in Greece since 1924 by exchanged populations from eastern turkey. The work is divided in three sections : 1) general introduction to the pontic speaking group, 2)descriptive grammar of the language, 3) an extent sample of the corpus, with translation and comments. - the introductive section gives short historical survevy of the pontic area, with an exposition of the field-work conditions. - the grammatical section describes first the phonological structures and, after that, the morpho-syntactic structures of pontic. The latter begins with the description of the morphology of n phrases and of the v phrases. The work gives a very particular attention about the aspectual system and the relations between syntactic structures and enonciative markers. The last chapter looks upon the patterns of spatial markers, which are a rather original feature of the language. - The work ends with a corpus constituted by several texts exemplifying the main grammatical rules explained above. Besides their intrinsic linguistic weight, the texts are also important by giving basic informations about crucial issues of pontic society and they give the possibility to sketch out the socio-historical context of the described language

Full textThe aim of the thesis is to identify the influence of various factors on blood indices and breathing function of the Black sea dolphins (Tursiops truncatus ponticus) that are kept in dolphinariums and also to do analysis of the reasons of dolphins’ diseases and death. The goals of the thesis: 1. Determine the physiological morphological and biochemical parameters of the dolphins’ blood with regard to their age and sex. 2. Determine the influence of the size of the pools on the respiratory rate of dolphin females and calves during the postnatal period. 3. Analyze the diseases affecting dolphins and the frequency of their occurance. 4. Study morphological and biochemical changes in dolphins blood parameters with regard to the diseases. 5. Identify the causes of death through pathological, anatomical, histopathological and microbiological examinations. The research has broadened the scientific knowledge about the Black sea dolphins’ (Tursiops truncatus ponticus) physiological characteristics and pathological conditions. It has been found out that the size of a pool has influence over the Black sea dolphin females and calves' respiratory rate as well as behaviour. Bearing in mind that there are genetic differences among other Tursiops truncatus dolphins, in the current research healthy Black sea afalins’ blood physiological morphological and biochemical parameters have been identified with regard to their age and sex. Full textThe process of drug discovery is long and tedious. Besides, it is relatively inefficient in terms of hit rate. The identification of candidates through experimental testing is expensive and requires extensive data on the mechanisms of the target protein in order to develop efficient assays. Virtual screening can considerably accelerate the process by quickly evaluating large databases of compounds and determining the most likely to bind to a target. Some success stories have emerged in the field over the last few years. The objectives of this work were first, to compare common tools and strategies for structure-based virtual screening, and second, to apply those tools to actual target proteins implied notably in carcinogenesis. In order to evaluate the docking and scoring programs available, the protein kinase GSK3 and a test set of known ligands were used as a model to perform methodological studies. In particular the influence of the flexibility of the protein was explored via relaxed structures of the receptor or the insertion of torsions on the side chains of residues located in the binding site. Studies concerning the automatic generation of 3D structures for the ligands and the use of consensus scoring also provided insights on the usability of these tools while performing a virtual screening.Virtual screening of the human protein Pontin, an ATPase implied in tumor cell growth for which no inhibitors were known, allowed the prioritization of compounds from commercial databases. These compounds were tested in an enzymatic assay via a collaboration, and led to the identification of four molecules capable of inhibiting the ATPase activity of Pontin. Additional screens of in-house oriented databases also provided at least one innovative inhibitor for this protein. On the contrary, a study of the human PLA2-X, a phospholipase that requires a Ca2+ atom to bind to its active site in order to catalyze the hydrolysis of its substrate, revealed the limits of our docking tools that could not handle the metal ion and the need for new tools

Full textThis work is a critical edition and presentation of the memoires du sieur de pontis (memoirs of the sieur de Pontis). These first memoirs written in port-royal, were published in 1676 and then overshadowed by the memoires de monsieur de Pontis, published in 1678. In 1657-8, the writer, du Fossé, a follower of Antoine Lemaistre, encouraged the officer Pontis to relate his life in camps and at court in order to discern how god led him to port-royal. The success in 1676 indicates the qualities of this account of actions, in which the spoken word is assimilated into the written word. In 1678, the publishers corrected oversights and made many concerted changes which gave rise to a new project. The unified, sustained tone met with requirements of the classic taste. Questions arise: why publish a text in 1676, calling for such extensive work two years later? The importance port-royal attached to these atypical memoirs, to their rapid publishing and then to their perfection, invites conjecture: in these last days of peace within the church, this account of conversion may be an indirect, self-interested tribute to the "war king". It is at any rate aimed at the old nobility, the ally which honored Port-Royal and often followed its direction

Full textPontin/Reptin complexes offer new therapeutic opportunities despite the fact they are still notwell known. In addition to their ATPase activity, multimeric complexes of Pontin/Reptin were reported as hélicases able to unwind nucleic acids. Molecular modeling techniques are a powerful tool to study proteins, both a docking and molecular dynamics were applied.Considering the size of a twelve sub-units complex, simulations taking into account all atoms were too expensive in terms of computational costs. A mesoscopic approach, called coarse grain, was used to reduce the number of particles. The calculation time saved with this model allowed the study of Pontin/Reptin complexes in the presence of diverse partners like small ligands (ATP or ADP) and/or nucleic acids. Reverse transformation from coarse-grain to the atomic level led to a DNA double helix opening along to the single strands rearrangement.Several mechanistic hypotheses for the complex helicase activity were formulated from these results
Essaidi, Mouna. "La poétique de l'exil et de la mort dans les Tristes et les Pontiques d'Ovide." Strasbourg, 2011. http://www.theses.fr/2011STRA1080.
Full textI am interested in working on the poetics of exile and of death in Les Tristes et les Pontiques, a series of collections composed by Ovid during his nine-year exile. This study is concerned with the ovidian poetic discourse which oscillates between death and the transcendence of death through art. The theme of exile as related to death, which is a common theme in Modern literature, is, in fact, not a modern invention. Our poet, for instance, stands for evidence for this fact since he developed this theme in his two collections. This theme has drawn the interest of Sulmonese specialists. However, the question has been tackled only within the framework of punctual approaches which briefly deal with the question and could not give credit to the complexity and the originality of Ovid’s exile writing. My thesis purports to fill up this gap. In my opinion, the main contribution of Ovid’s poetic work lies in the ambivalence of the relationship between exile and death. I am concerned with three main points: lexicon, themes and a study of intertextuality and autotextuality, which are present in every section of the thesis. The first section deals with intertextuality in Les Tristes et les Pontiques as well as the various elements which reflect the impact of exile on Ovid’s writing. The second section aims at shedding light on the characteristics of the universe of the ovidian banishment, in its most concrete aspect, as reflected in his poetic discourse. The third section is devoted to the study of the ambivalence of the poetics of exile and death: from death to the immortality of a rescuing art. Decline and death affect his body as well as his spirit and his creative capacities. Yet, it is through art that he reaches immortality and that his pain is rendered universal

Full textIn this thesis, I investigate the complex and contradictory dimensions of the settlement of the Greek diaspora originating from the Soviet Union in Greece since 1985. This analysis learns from this group's historical journey during the last two centuries. The historical departure of analysis leads to an analysis of the two models of this group's settlement in Greece. On one hand, a state strategy of controlled settlement in Trace took place, with important demeographic and socio-cultural consequences for this peripheral geographical region. On the other hand , a voluntary settlement of this group in the broader capital territory of Athens led to the development of novel forms of residential and peripheral urban spaces. .

Full textThe thesis studies the presence and influence of the Iranian peoples and tribes in the Pontus region from the origins to the fall of the Achaemenid Empire. While the sedentary Iranian people have been the center of attention, this work focuses firstly on the nomadic Iranian peoples originally living in western Siberia and who moved later in the north-Pontic region. In the absence of Cimmerian and Scythian written documents, the first part of thesis attempts to reconstruct a historical narrative of the migration and invasion of these people through the references made to them in ancient Greek and Assyrian texts, as well as by archaeological evidence. Modern debate about the Cimmerians’ linguistic and ethnic affiliation continues at a lively pace, for the existing documentation is both sparse and full of contradictions. Nonetheless, the inclination today is to consider them as an Iranian people. The second part of thesis traces the history of Scythian tribes in the North Pontic region. The first Scythian legend of origin, as related by Herodotus is studied and it is suggested that this legend incorporates typical features of Iranian legends of origin. The third part of the thesis studies the history of Pontus regions in the Achaemenid period and attempts to evaluate the impact of Persian and Iranian presence there. This part discusses the political status of the Pontus regions within the Achaemenid empire and attempts to determine the nature and the level of political incorporation of these regions into Achaemenid administrative organization. The work concludes by reviewing the written, archeological, artistic and various other sorts of evidence which suggests that there was not only a permanent presence of Persians and Iranians of the imperial diaspora, but also a considerable impact by the Achaemenid political and cultural influence in the Pontus region. This was due to the intense intercultural exchange between these Iranians and local populations

Full textHepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the main primary cancer of the liver and is often associated with poor prognosis. Our team has demonstrated that Reptin and Pontin, two AA+ ATPases, are overexpressed in HCC compared to normal liver. Moreover this overexpression is also associated with poor prognosis. In the course of my PhD, I demonstrated that shRNA-mediated silencing of Reptin is sufficient to inhibit tumor growth and even can promote their regression in xenografted mice. These encouraging results suggest that Reptin might represent a novel therapeutic target in HCC. As the use of siRNA as therapeutic tools is still debated, the targeting of Reptin enzymatic activity might represent a more relevant approach to impair its functions. To this end I first proposed to determine the involvement of Reptin ATPase activity in HCC oncogenesis. My results show that ATPase inactive Reptin mutants (D299N and E300G) play dominant negative roles toward Reptin functions and are unable to complement for the depletion of endogenous Reptin, thereby leading to a significant decrease of cell growth and to a significant increase of apoptosis in HuH7 and Hep3B cells. These results show that Reptin’s ATPase activity is necessary for HCC cell growth and survival. Moreover, using a transcriptomic approach that compared gene expression upon siRNA-mediated Reptin or Pontin silencing, we identified specific genes whose expression is under the control of those proteins and whose functions might provide mechanistic explanation to Reptin’s involvement in HCC. Collectively, the results obtained during my PhD thesis have characterized the contribution of Reptin ATPase activity to HCC growth and development and might represent a founding step in the understanding of Reptin’s biology in cancer development
