Abstract:
Because pools are tested instead of individuals in group testing, this technique is helpful for estimating prevalence in a population or for classifying a large number of individuals into two groups at a low cost. For this reason, group testing is a well-known means of saving costs and producing precise estimates. In this paper, we developed a mixed-effect group testing regression that is useful when the data-collecting process is performed using inverse sampling. This model allows including covariate information at the individual level to incorporate heterogeneity among individuals and identi

Natural gas marketing has considerably evolved since the early 1990s, when a set of liberalizing rules were passed in both the United States and the European Union that eliminated state-driven regulations in favor of open energy markets. These new rules changed many things in the business of energetics, and therefore new research opportunities arose. Econometric studies about natural gas emerged as an important area of study since natural gas may now be sold and traded in a number of stock markets, each one responding to potentially different behavioral drives. International relations scholars make frequent use of pooled cross-sectional regression in which N dyads over T time points are combined to create NT observations. Pooled estimates were derived from random-effects meta-analysis. Meta-regression was used to explore sources of heterogeneity among studies. Abstract Background The Atellica Solution comprises chemistry (CH) and immunoassay (IM) analyzers. Recently, six early adopter clinical laboratories across Europe evaluated the analytical performance of 20 CH and IM assays. To measure analytical performance quality, Sigma metrics were calculated for individual-site and pooled-site results. Methods Precision, detection capability, linearity, and method comparison studies were performed according to Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute protocols. Global Sigma metrics across sites were calculated from pooled data at the medical decision level

The objective of this study was to determine if total plant leaf numbers in a large data set could be predicted from individual plant shoot dry weight measurements using regression equations derived from a subset of the data. The species used were annual bluegrass (Poa annua L.) and creeping bentgrass (Agrostis palustris Huds. ’Penncross’). There was significant correlation between leaf number and shoot dry weight measurements in data subsets. Leaf numbers for the total data set were estimated by the regression equation derived from a subset consisting of pooled data from one, two or three rep

Background: The central vein sign (CVS) is a radiological feature proposed as a multiple sclerosis (MS) imaging biomarker able to accurately differentiate MS from other white matter diseases of the central nervous system. In this work, we evaluated the pooled proportion of the CVS in brain MS lesions and to estimate the diagnostic performance of CVS to perform a diagnosis of MS and propose an optimal cut-off value. Methods: A systematic search was performed on publicly available databases (PUBMED/MEDLINE and Web of Science) up to 24 August 2020. Analysis of the proportion of white matter MS le

Background: The incidence and mortality of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) after kidney transplantation (KTx) remain unclear. This study's aims were (1) to investigate the pooled incidence/incidence trends, and (2) to assess the mortality/mortality trends in KTx patients with RCC. Methods: A literature search was conducted using the MEDLINE, EMBASE and Cochrane databases from inception through October 2018. Studies that reported the incidence or mortality of RCC among kidney transplant recipients were included. The pooled incidence and 95% CI were calculated using a random-effect model. The protoco

Background Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is a common endocrine metabolic disease, involving a carbohydrate intolerance of variable severity during pregnancy. The incidence of GDM-related complications and adverse pregnancy outcomes has declined, in part, due to early screening. Machine learning (ML) models are increasingly used to identify risk factors and enable the early prediction of GDM. Objective The aim of this study was to perform a meta-analysis and comparison of published prognostic models for predicting the risk of GDM and identify predictors applicable to the models. Methods F

Group testing has been verified as a cost-effective and time-efficient approach, where the individual samples are pooled with a predefined group size for subsequent testing. Recent research has explored the integration of covariate information to improve the modeling of the group testing data. While existing works for high-dimensional data primarily focus on parametric models, this study considers a more flexible generalized nonparametric additive model. Nonlinear components are approximated using B-splines and model estimation under the sparsity assumption is derived employing group lasso. Th
