Abstract:
John Clare's confessed preference for the ‘vulgar’ names of flowers and his apparent dismissal of the sexual system as ‘darkness visible’ seems to keeps the taint of Linnaean influence at a distance. His enumeration of flowers in ‘The Wild Flower Nosgay’, however, looks very much like two eighteenth-century descriptive procedures: poetic diction and binomial nomenclature. Dryden's popular translation of Virgil's Georgics modified a classical inheritance of compound epithets into phrases later recognised as poetic diction. This inheritance finds an unexpected consonance in the binomial nomenclature of Linnaeus, who loved the Georgics and referred to them in his work. By comparing poetic diction and binomial nomenclature, this essay investigates the resources of compression or visibility which either procedure might offer to a bookish and keen-sighted poet like Clare. In doing so, it reiterates the case for Clare's immersion in eighteenth-century poetic procedure.

Abstract:
Computing programs are internationally available at different levels and nomenclatures. The popular levels in this regard are Bachelors and Master’s Degree. Internationally the Bachelors programs are commonly available as BS and MS program. Though UK and its follower countries the level and nomenclature are also called and popular as BSc and MSc programs. Worldwide Computing and IT programs are available only in science platform (except few countries that offers Master of Engineering/ Technology program). As far as Research levels are concerned most common are PhD and M.Phil. Though, among these, PhD is most common. However, it is worthy to note that M.Phil. Program is not offered and not so much popular in some countries. M.Tech by Research is considered as another program of research level offered to the B.Tech. / BE degree holders and in some cases MSc degree holders. In India, M.Phil. and PhD are available in IT and Computing fields for the science candidates, though engineering post graduate in related fields may also join the program. M.Phil. program in India is offered only at universities. In recent past, the number of private universities has been significantly increased and thus many of them are offer M.Phil. And many of those private universities offer M.Phil.in the field of IT and Computing. The traditional M.Phil. Programs are concentrated on broad areas viz. Computer Science/ Applications. Though, a significant move was undertaken by the Srinivas University, Karnataka for offering M.Phil.in subfields of IT. The paper discusses in detail of M.Phil. Program available in India with a special focus on specialized M.Phil.in Cloud Computing, Big Data Analytics etc. Paper also tries to move into healthy educational policy related work for future potentialities.

Sinnyovsky, Dimitar. "Precambrian metamorphites as part of the petrographic diversity of Rila Geopark." Review of the Bulgarian Geological Society 82, no. 1 (March 2021): 11–29. http://dx.doi.org/10.52215/rev.bgs.2021.82.1.3.

Abstract:
The petrographic diversity of Rila Mountain is an important prerequisite for the development of Rila Geopark and its nomination for UNESCO Geopark. According to the principle of the thematic geodiversity, the leading theme of the geopark – glacial landscapes, is complemented by the remarkable petrographic diversity of igneous and metamorphic rocks, in which alpine glacial forms are developed. Following a recent review of the intrusive rocks that make up the Rila-West Rhodope Batholith, the concept of Rila Geopark would not be complete without a retrospective of the metamorphic rocks that are an integral part of its petrographic diversity. The different approaches (lithodemic and lithotectonic) to the mapping of the Rila-Rhodope Massif divided the geologists into two camps. This led to a discrepancy in terminology and nomenclature of the metamorphic units, which is unacceptable in the context of the educational priority of the geopark. For the purpose of geotourism, clear and understandable interpretations are required to provoke the visitors’ interest in geological processes and phenomena, rather than confusion and perplexity. This article is a historical overview of the geological study of the metamorphic terrains in Rila Mountain with a scheme of lithodemic units based on the existing lithostratigraphic nomenclature. This approach allows the preservation of the names of the lithostratigraphic units, whose toponymic adjectives derive from well known geographical features in the Rila-Rhodope Massif. The rank term is replaced by a lithological or descriptive term, which frees the nomenclature from the dogmatic restrictions of the stratigraphic code and reduces the distance between the strictly scientific and popular science approach used for interpretation of geological information in a popular language accessible to the general public. This methodology is consistent with the approach recommended for mapping of non-stratified bodies on the Geological Map of the Republic of Bulgaria at a scale 1:50 000.

Abstract:
A brief overview of the biography and scientific achievements of Anatoliy Shcherbukha — a prominent Ukrainian zoologist, museologist, collector, fish expert, developer of the Ukrainian fish nomenclature, and promoter of science. Biographical information reconstructed from a personal file found in the archives of the National Museum of Natural History NAS of Ukraine (NMNH), as well as some scientific works of the researcher are presented. An overview of his works, both articles and monographs, including reference books, scientific monographs, popular science publications, catalogues, textbooks, and identification keys is given. The entire creative path of the researcher was connected with the academic Zoological Museum, which was alternately part of the Institute of Zoology and the Central Museum of Natural History, NAS of Ukraine. The researcher went from a scientist who studied the fish fauna of a small river Psel to a prominent expert of the fish fauna of all types of water bodies of Ukraine, both natural and artificial, fresh and marine waters, aboriginal and alien components of fauna, rare and industrial fish species. The researcher's achievements in the development and approval of the Ukrainian nomenclature of fishes are also significant, including the definition of the central role of genus names, from which the names of both species and families and other taxa are formed. The zoological collection of the NMNH contains more than 2,000 fish specimens of 59 species collected by A. Shcherbukha. The researcher paid much attention to the promotion of scientific knowledge and authored two popular publications on fishes, each of which was republished. The five most cited works of the researcher are the monograph "Percomorpha" in the series "Fauna of Ukraine" (1982), the catalogue of NMNH collections "Lampreys and Fishes" (2003), the popular science book "Fishes of Our Waters" (1987), the scientific article “Fish fauna of Ukraine in retrospective and modern problems of its diversity conservation” (2004), and the reference book “The Ukrainian Nomenclature of Fishes of Ukraine” (2003). The last work of the researcher was "Key to Fishes of Continental Waters and Streams of Ukraine" written in collaboration with colleagues from other institutions (2020).

Abstract:
The taxonomy, nomenclature, identification, introduction history, biology, and economic importance of Chaetocnema concinna (Marsham, 1802) are reviewed, and its status as pest or beneficial insect is discussed. While it is the most important pest of sugar beet in Europe, its economic importance has not yet been demonstrated in North America. Chaetocnema concinna is widely distributed in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island and presently known from only two localities in New Brunswick. On the basis of voucher specimens available, we determined that it was introduced in these provinces in the late 1980s. Since C. concinna is associated with many species of plants and can be either harmful or beneficial, we consider that “brassy flea beetle” is the most appropriate popular name available.

Abstract: In recent years na increasing number of ethnobiological studies have been undertaken to better understand how human populations perceive and categorize information with respect to the liveng world around them. A universal hypothesis with respect to the living world around them. A universal hypothesis was introduced by Berlin, Breedlove and Raven (1973) dscribing similarities between systems of classification. In the past ten years research has, in general, reinforced these proposed universals of classification. But there is still a lack of adequate information as to how biological units are put together. Clearly, studies of a more restricted nature than ¿the word¿ and yet more general in scope than just on culture could contribute useful information along this line. This study examines classification system of birds among four indigenous Amazonian groups of people all with similar but not identical cultures and environments (Wayampi, Urubu-Kaapor, Sater-Mawe, Apalaí). The first three are related linguistically (all from the Tupi linguistic trunk) whereas Apalaí is from the Karib linguistic family ( an entirely different trunk). The purpose of this thesis is to identify those aspects which seem to be characteristic of tupi classification system in order to better understand the roles which the physical environment, culture and language play in the evolution of those systems ...Note: The complete abstract is available with the full electronic digital thesis or dissertations

The snakes of the genus Sibynomorphus, popularly known as “Dormideiras”, are goo-eaters and have nocturnal habits. In the state of Minas Gerais, two species of the genus are found: S. neuwiedi and S. mikanii, being the first one, an endemic species of the Atlantic Forest biome, while the second is found both in the Atlantic Forest as in the Cerrado biome. In the present work, it was detected sexual dimorphism in both species of the genus. In both species the females had higher averages for the total length and width of the head, while males showed higher number of subcaudal scales. Therefore, that S. mikanii did not differ only regarding the variable length of the head, while S. neuwiedi did not show dimorphism with respect to the tail length and the number of ventral scales. Through diafanization, it was observed cranial disparities related to the diet of the snakes; therefore, S neuwiedi presented more robust and longer bones, which enables the species to prey on shelled molluscs. On the other hand, S. mikanii demonstrated greater number of teeth in the dental bone. In second chapter, it was demonstrated through the application of semi-structured questionnaires, the relationship of vegetable producers of Viçosa with “Dormideiras” snakes, given that they are often found in gardens (plot for growing vegetables). Through that method it was also possible to realize inefficient ways, according to the scientific conception, to distinguish between poisonous snakes and not poisonous ones, which is often disseminated by population or by didatics books. These snakes are normally confused with medical importance species, which justifies its overestimated dangerousness. Finally, it is described a chromatic anomaly specimen of S. neuwiedi collected in Viçosa, MG.

The ethnoictiology to describe and use the knowledge of fishermen, by studies that show that they are carriers of bio-ecological knowledge about fish they catch. Thus, the objective was to compare the knowledge of fishermen of public dams Araras and Edson Queiroz (Middle Acaraú River Basin, Ceará) with the scientific literature. With this end, we selected a representative population for each of these reservoirs. Therefore, there is the Ilha de Esaú, for the dam Araras, and Vila São Cosme, to Edson Queiroz. Were performed participant observation, semi-structured interviews, visual stimulus, and guided fishing tours of these populations. Twenty fishermen were interviewed in Vila Sao Cosme and twenty-four on the Ihla de Esaú The interviews aspects ethnoecological of the main fish species caught by fishermen. Were cited twenty ethnospecies fish and shrimp as captured in the reservoirs. Among these, the most important, economically, are cará-tilapia [Oreochromis niloticus (Linnaeus, 1758) and Tilapia rendalli (Boulenger, 1897)], curimatã [(Prochilodus brevis (Steindachner, 1874)], pescada [Plagiossion squamossimus (Heckel, 1840)], piau (Leporinus sp.),traíra (Hoplias brasiliensis e H. malabaricus) and tucunaré [Cichla cf. ocellaris (Bloch; Schneider, 1801)]. In the classification of fishes, fishemen used morphological and ethological aspects, presenting several ethnospecies with generic names and few with binomial names. In your diet, these populations consume fish as the main source of animal protein, with social and cultural restrictions. As for ethnoictiology, it is concluded that the fishermen have consistent knowledge about the general ecology, trophic and reproductive of fishes captured. Therefore, the consistency of the knowledge of fishermen on the Ilha de Esaú and Vila São Cosme, this knowledge can contribute to future scientific studies and be incorporated in the preparation of management plans and sustainable management of water resources and fisheries in the middle region Acaraú.

Abstract:
If there is one phrase that has been used most often by Western audiences for popular Indian cinema, it is the phrase “musicals.” The description gestures both at the fixation of Indian cinema on an earlier stage of cinematic evolution and the simple and uncomplicated pleasure derived by the audience from popular Hindi films that have an audience all over the world. This essay examines Hindi film “song and dance” spectacles as the art of deferment in the postmodern cinema of seduction, a notion derived from the work of Jean Baudrillard and the insights of Freud-Lacan-Zizek and Baudrillard himself on deferral and seduction. This chapter makes this claim not as an overarching theoretical nomenclature for all song and dance sequences in Hindi films. Instead the author argues for the primacy of the art of deferment and play in a postmodern cinema of seduction within the limited scope of her reading of a North Indian subaltern/folk-inspired song and dance Hindi film, Amol Palekar and Sandhya Gokhale directed Paheli (Riddle, 2005).

Abstract:
This chapter demonstrates how, although historians emphasizing popular consent for the Third Reich have accurately identified the fluidity of racial nationalism, they problematically assume a distinction between Nazism as ideology and Germans as people. Such approaches imply a relatively self-contained German national community, whose continuity was fundamentally interrupted by fascism's arrival. Yet, as demonstrated by some Mennonites' production of racial knowledge, it would be inaccurate to think of “ordinary Germans” as merely accommodating themselves to racial nationalism. Studies of Mennonite language, nomenclature, genealogy, and disease, for instance, popularized the notion of a racial church while also providing new means of articulating members' relationships to other confessions. As quintessential Aryans, Mennonites simultaneously became understood as “anti-Jews”—an idea denoting their confession as an Aryan version of Judaism as well as an antidote to Jewish degeneracy.

Joseph, Sophy K. "Common Concepts." In Customary Rights of Farmers in Neoliberal India, 37–74. Oxford University Press, 2020. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oso/9780190121006.003.0002.

Abstract:
This chapter intends to clarify primary concepts such as ‘farmer’, ‘customary rights of a farmer’, and ‘principle of common heritage’ with the help of important literature. While discussing the pedagogy of the book, it is important to discuss the nomenclatures used in the title. This is aimed at clarifying the perspective from which the author is analysing the subject. In pedagogical sense, there is a movement from popularly used meaning to particularly ascribed meaning to explain the terminologies such as ‘farmers’ and ‘customary rights’. This has been done with the help of historical analysis through different phases. The author argues that popular legal definition of ‘farmer’ is exclusionary in character and therefore the benefits of commercialization cannot reach the original owners of plant genetic resources.

Abstract:
The purpose of this chapter is to discuss Empirical Orthogonal Functions (EOF), both in method and application. When dealing with teleconnections in the previous chapter we came very close to EOF, so it will be a natural extension of that theme. However, EOF opens the way to an alternative point of view about space–time relationships, especially correlation across distant times as in analogues. EOFs have been treated in book-size texts, most recently in Jolliffe (2002), a principal older reference being Preisendorfer (1988). The subject is extremely interdisciplinary, and each field has its own nomenclature, habits and notation. Jolliffe’s book is probably the best attempt to unify various fields. The term EOF appeared first in meteorology in Lorenz (1956). Zwiers and von Storch (1999) and Wilks (1995) devote lengthy single chapters to the topic. Here we will only briefly treat EOF or PCA (Principal Component Analysis) as it is called in most fields. Specifically we discuss how to set up the covariance matrix, how to calculate the EOF, what are their properties, advantages, disadvantages etc. We will do this in both space–time set-ups already alluded to in Equations (2.14) and (2.14a). There are no concrete rules as to how one constructs the covariance matrix. Hence there are in the literature matrices based on correlation, based on covariance, etc. Here we follow the conventions laid out in Chapter 2. The post-processing and display conventions of EOFs can also be quite confusing. Examples will be shown, for both daily and seasonal mean data, for both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere. EOF may or may not look like teleconnections. Therefore, as a diagnostic tool, EOFs may not always allow the interpretation some would wish. This has led to many proposed “simplifications” of the EOFs, which hopefully are more like teleconnections. However, regardless of physical interpretation, since EOFs are maximally efficient in retaining as much of the data set’s information as possible for as few degrees of freedom as possible they are ideally suited for empirical modeling. Indeed EOFs are an extremely popular tool these days.

Abstract:
In a central receiver solar power plant, heliostats are arranged with respect to the central receiver so as to reflect the rays from the sun onto the power tower with high precision by tracking the sun in both the azimuth and elevation directions. The master control system of a solar power plant consists of different levels. The first level is local control; it takes care of the positioning of the heliostats when the aiming point and the time are given to the system, and informs upper level about the status of the heliostats field. The second logic level makes some important dispatch calculations of heliostats field. The most popular linear two-axis local driving system of heliostat consists of two linear driving actuators, the driving mechanism with rotary joints, and the controller. Traditional methods for heliostat design are often based on a sequential approach in which the mechanical structure is designed first and then the control system is advised. In order to reach the optimal design of heliostats, an integrated design approach that concurrently considers the interactions between the mechanical and control subsystems is necessary. In this article, an integrated design methodology of heliostat drive system is presented. The methodology is based on modeling and simulation. The dynamic models that describe the behavior of the mechanical and control components are presented. These models involve mechanical and control design variables such as the motor parameters, power screw (including back lash), heliostat mass, load forces, and wind forces. Matlab, Solidwork, and Simulink are chosen to apply PID tracking control to heliostats, due to the ability to arbitrarily model complex mechanical systems, directly import properly constructed, third-party 3D CAD models, simulate integrated control, handle a variety of robotics nomenclature, and other features. The present methodology is employed for integrated design of a single facet small size heliostat with mirror area of 3 m2.The methods described in this article also show a way to rapidly simulate novel and complex heliostat geometries. Analysis of the heliostat drive system performance and dynamic characteristics according to mechanical and control design variables is conducted for the purpose of control system design and performance optimization. The drive system performance is evaluated in terms of positioning tracking errors, system response, and control system behavior. It is shown that the mechanical characteristics of the ball power screw actuator such as ball-screw diameter, lead, overall flexibility, stiffness, backlash, and inertia significantly influence the performance of drive system.
