Abstract:
This thesis aimed to elucidate the demographic characteristics associated with elevated or reduced rates of pneumococcal conjugate 13 (PCV13) vaccination. A retrospective cohort study was performed using the Truven Health MarketScan® Database. Three cohorts were created corresponding to populations for which the CDC recommends PCV13 vaccination. Cohort 1: children < 36 months of age. Cohort 2: adults 19-64 years of age with high infection risk. Cohort 3: adults > 65 years of age. Odds of having a PCV13 claim were calculated for each cohort. For Cohort 1, 78% out of a total of 353,214 subjects

Abstract:
The Current Population Survey (CPS) has been a major source of disability data for public policy and research. The aim of this study was two-fold. First, the study examined the six disability measures added to the CPS in 2008 to determine if they are both a reliable and stable method of describing disability over a period of two survey administrations in a 12-month period. Second, this study then assessed the impact of disability upon labor force participation. This research used a subset of the respondents to the longitudinal CPS Annual Social and Economic Supplement; it included (N=11,

Abstract:

Abstract:
Governments require information about population counts and characteristics in order to make plans, develop policies and provide public services. The main source of this information is the traditional population censuses. However, they are costly, and the information collected by the decennial censuses goes out-of-date easily. For this reason, this thesis has two main aims: to develop methodologies to combine administrative data sources to estimate population counts in the absence of both a traditional census, and to produce uncertainty estimates for the estimated population counts. This study examines the similarities and differences between males and females from the Hispanic and Non-Hispanic White population in the Central Florida labor force regarding recruitment strategies and techniques of the Baby Boomers, Generation X and the Millennial population. The purpose of this study is to identify those Human Resources recruitment practices that are most effective in retaining: (1) males and females from the Hispanic population, and (2) whether or not theses recruitment tactics affect the generation groups differently. Abstract:
The theoretical framework of estimating the population totals from the Census, Survey and an Administrative Records List is based on capture-recapture methodology which has traditionally been employed for the measurement of abundance of biological populations. Under this framework, in order to estimate the unknown population total, N, an initial set of individuals is captured. Further subsequent captures are taken at later periods. The possible capture histories can be represented by the cells of a 2r contingency table, where r is the number of captures. This contingency table will have one ce

<p>This essay is a comparative empirical study of ethnic integration mainly of the Russian-speaking minorities in the three Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) in a post-communism setting. As Lithuania has a Polish minority that is as large as the Russian-speaking, they too shall be included in the study but not as thoroughly as the Russian-speaking minority. Thus the problem is: to what degree are the ethnic minorities integrated with the titular nations in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania? In order to study ethnic integration I have set up a theoretical framework largely based on Wein
