This paper proposes a template to assist food value chain actors in their collaborative efforts to develop common sustainable strategies and business models. Inspired by the simplicity of the Business Model Canvas, the template reintroduces sustainable practices as a support for management solutions for sustainable food value chains. The template requires cooperation between actors and stakeholders and comprises three steps: (1) identification of needs for sustainability; (2) development of value chain practices aimed to deliver sustainable value, and assignment of responsibilities to actors f

Trade liberalization and globalization have resulted in the free flow of goods, services, capital and people. In this regard ports play a vital role in linking supply chains, as goods flow from the point of inception through the chain up to the customer at the end. The impact of logistics - measured in terms of costreduction, shorter lead times and better customer service - that would contribute to the competitive advantage of businesses was evaluated.

Bringing industry back to the sea is a formula that has a precise and extensive strategic and planning significance. Today, logistics chains are getting shorter. This is a contraction of the excesses of globalization. The pandemic in 2020 and the blocking of Suez in the spring of 2021 have demonstrated the need to create regional buffers capable of absorbing interruptions in the distribution of goods and processing them while also creating added value. The case of the Port of Trieste can be a model to be studied to understand how to effectively govern these transformations.

Abstract Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCS) technology is one of the most relevant technologies aimed at reducing GHG emissions. It is vital for the energy sector and industry, especially the hard-to-abate industries, to decarbonize them. When the CO2 is utilized, instead of stored, the overall technology is known as CCUS, where the "U" stands for utilization; although the market for CO2 utilization is small compared to the produced amount of CO2, it adds an attractive alternative to the storage, and it allows to introduce new or improved products into the market. Abstract:
This benchmarking study compares the performance of the Philippine livestock, poultry, and dairy (LPD) industries with other large LPD producers and consumers in Asia: China, Thailand, and Viet Nam, supplemented with figures from major global players. In the case of the Philippine swine industry, commercial farms’ unit cost of production is lower than that of backyard farms due to economies of scale. Moreover, the cost per unit of commercial farms in the Philippines is among the highest among the countries studied, primarily due to the higher feed and grower stock cost. As with swine, economie

Abstract:
In the context of decarbonization, green hydrogen (H2) could play a relevant role alongside electrification in meeting the energy needs of those activities that require high temperatures and great flexibility with no other alternatives currently available. However, it faces significant obstacles to its large-scale and commercial use due to its storage and transport limitations, low volumetric and energy density, and flammable nature. There are various solutions or hydrogen carriers for its transport and storage, which depend, among others, on the end use. Among the different carrier alternativ

Although water is essential for life, as per the United Nations, around 2 billion people in this world lack access to safely managed drinking water services at home. Herein we report the development of a two-dimensional (2D) fluorinated graphene oxide (FGO) and polyethylenimine (PEI) based three-dimensional (3D) porous nanoplatform for the effective removal of polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), pharmaceutical toxins, and waterborne pathogens from contaminated water. Experimental data show that the FGO-PEI based nanoplatform has an estimated adsorption capacity (𝘲ₘ) of ∼219 mg g⁻¹ for perfluoro

During research cruise AL595 (31.5. - 20.6.2023) onboard research vessel ALKOR, investigations were carried out at the Grimsey Hydrothermal Field offshore Northern Iceland as part of the Helmholtz InnoPool project “High CO2 – metabolic responses and bioeconomic opportunities”. For the first time, the Hover-AUVs Anton and Luise were successfully operated at water depths of up to 400m, which is close to the maximum operational depth of 500m specified for these Girona 500 AUVs. AUV Anton was used to measure high resolution multibeam data with a horizontal resolution of approximately 40cm cov- eri

Macroeconomic summary The Colombian economy sustained numerous shocks in the second quarter, pri¬marily related to costs and supply. The majority of these shocks were unantic¬ipated or proved more persistent than expected, interrupting the recovery in economic activity observed at the beginning of the year and pushing overall inflation above the target. Core inflation (excluding food and regulated items) increased but remained low, in line with the technical staff’s expectations. A third wave of the pandemic, which became more severe and prolonged than the previous outbreak, began in early Apr
